Why does literally EVERY female think they have resting bitch face?!

I see it all the time in my newsfeed.

Some friendly-face ass girl will be like

"Omg I have resting bitch face blah blah blah~"

"It's not me it's my face yap yap yap~"

What is resting bitch face? Does it make you feel like you're intimidating? Am I supposed to be scared of you? What?! Sit your friendly-face ass down.

And I swear 90% of females I know swear up and down that they have it. And only 10% actually DO have it.

And they look like puppies :derp:

At least I can ADMIT I am a friendly looking girl. Not saying I am though

I'm often told to smile by strangers when they look at me and my TA was afraid that I was mad at him for critiquing my paper when I was actually just focused on what he was saying and asking questions on how I could improve my work. I think it's different for everyone.

Well, for me, I don't think I have it, but maybe I do/did based on things people have said to me. Like one time a girl in high school told me, out of nowhere, to stop staring at her in an angry voice when I wasn't even looking at her, just in her direction. It was weird. Maybe she was just crazy though. Then another time one of my friends asked me what was wrong, and when I told her "nothing" she said I'd looked sad. Actually, that happened at least twice with different friends. There were other incidents too, with people telling me to smile and stuff. Although, all of that happened before I had glasses, so maybe it was because I was always squinting at things and people, and it made me look mean. That's one of my theories at least.

"And they look like puppies" Aww HAHAHA. I actually had a really bad case of resting bitch face when I was young. I'm assuming cos the older I got, my appearance changed a bit so I look nicer than before. But literally so many of my friends thought I used to hate them when in fact, I was kinda just staring at people and happened to look really mad LOL.

LOL, so true. Most of the times it's really obvious people say that to make it look like they are cool and intimidating when usually people who actually have a case of resting bitch face (aka don't smile easily) are either considered rude or introverts.

I feel like as a girl if you're not CONSTANTLY smiling, people assume you're a bitch. I have lost count of how many times people have stopped mid convo to ask me "Are you okay" "Are you mad at me?" "You look bored" even though I'm just listening to them.

Or the ultimate insult, people running up to you afterwards to "clarify" shit afterwards to make sure you're not mad at them. Like no, I don't even remember what you said let alone hold a grudge?

Double standards for female expressions ARE REAL. I see them everyday in terms of how people treat my brothers vs myself, at work and in the media. A man is "stoic and charismatic" a woman is "bitchy and arrogant".

That's not to say that you can't be rude with your expressions, you certainly can give a very bad impression if you're acting very bored, but from the comparisons I've seen; women are held up to much higher expectations to be more "cheery" or risk being called out for having a bad attitude.
