Miss Germany Sarah-Lorraine Riek was quoted in an interview with Natalia Cruz; saying she’s upset over Wurtzbach winning the crown and expressed her support for 1st Runner-Up Miss Colombia Ariadna MarÃa Gutiérrez Arévalo. Gutierrez was still relishing the victory with the crowd and supporters for about three minutes when Harvey announced the mistake. She was later stripped of the crown which was eventually handed to Wurztbach before the shocked audience. But Miss Germany Sarah-Lorraine Riek believes Miss France is the rightful winner, and not Wurtzbach, since not one among the candidates supposedly voted for Miss Philippines.“I really couldn’t believe it, I was so upset. For me Miss France as the real winner,†Riek told Cruz in a recorded interview uploaded on the Facebook page “I was very happy for Miss Colombia because she really deserved it. I’m really not happy with the result and so are the other girls, I’m sorry to say it,†added Miss Germany. “Because no one of us voted for Philippines. Unless your margin was 60% of the total vote, I don't think it matters that anybody voted for her. None of their answers were all that amazing. And idk where you live, but you will most certainly not find a girl like that at a mall anywhere on the east coast of the USA. And she's acting as if votes from the contestants make up 100% of the decision for the final winner. It's not Miss Philippines' fault that Miss Colombia absolutely bombed the question about why she should be Miss Universe. Both Miss Colombia and Miss USA's answers were not great at all. Miss USA's answer was so cliche whereas Miss Colombia made it about herself. It's pretty clear why Miss Philippines won. I was rooting for Miss France as well but I'm not about to be petty when Miss Philippines was deserving of it. She handled herself with class and grace--she approached Miss Colombia afterwards but the girls surrounding her didn't even look at Miss Philippines. Cuz those were the top three, where is Miss France in all that? Either she's noise-marketing or she's friends with Miss France and honestly wtf is wrong with her. Both Miss Philippines and Miss Colombia already got screwed over. It's not like Miss Philippines will remember her win nicely like she should, and Miss Colombia probably suffered the greatest let-down of her entire life. Meanwhile, we have Miss Germany being a complete bitch about the results as if her opinion or the opinion of the other contestants (supposedly) decides who Miss Universe is. All the other girls apparently rushed to comfort Miss Colombia afterwards and paid no attention to her even though she was the rightful winner. Like two women just went through this ordeal, one humiliated and the other got her big moment stolen away. No one needs anymore negativity and this "she really deserved it" crap. She was graceful enough to accept defeat when everyone thought she was 1st runner up. But when she won, you could tell she was still being considerate of Miss Colombia as well.
