Someone please bless us with a Mei Qi fancam I know it's mostly Cheng Xiao blowing up right now with her dance/flip, but Mei Qi really shined as a dancer as well. I would love to see a fancam that focuses only on her.

Ikr? How could nobody film her Catch Me performance?  I can't take my eyes off her during the whole performance (except for Cheng Xiao's flip). Her dancing skills blew me away, I didn't expect that she's such a powerful dancer. Her hair flip was so glorious too.

I know.  I'm not sure about Catch Me. I think she sings more but she shares her parts with other members most of the time. Even after watching their individual fancams, I still can't figure out who's singing what because they either lipsync terribly or they just mime to other members' lines. At least she's dancing in the center quite a few times in Catch Me unlike MMM so I won't complain.

I still can't get over her slayage in Catch Me. Too bad she (and everyone else) got overshadowed by Xiao's aerial flip so barely anyone talks about her amazing performance. 

 

I hope we will get more of this 

 

 

Cheng Xiao is 100% the main dancer considering she's in the center the majority of time, at least she will be promoted as such, so Mei Qi could be considered just a lead because I don't know any groups that have two main dancers. But Mei Qi deserves to be a main, imo she has much better techniques than Xiao.

I put Zhao Mei Qi (趙美å²) for her Chinese name when I originally created the OP but since it's not 100% verified, I just kept the English name to Mei Qi. Will try to confirm.

 

At this rate I have to book a one-way ticket to Korea to found a proper Mei Qi fansite and record a Mei Qi fancam by myself.

I'd guess that Cheng Xiao has a likelihood of knowing Cantonese, considering she studied dance in Shenzhen (which is in Guangdong province).

 

That's very likely. I guess that's why they make Cheng Xiao the representative Chinese speaker instead of Xuan Yi (the oldest) because she knows both dialects.

Alright, so when I was watching MOMOMO MV, after looking out for my bae Xuan Yi, next was Mei Qi and I was also sad at how shafted she was hardly a line, and barely any screen time </3

BUT THEN. I watched Catch Me performance and THIS. She's definitely the main shining gem here:

After that, I was like never mind~ it's all good

Y'all, let's wait a bit because I think they'll really let her take the limelight in Catch Me MV. (Well, they better. If not, then we can really go ahead with the #justiceforqisus thing.)

 

They don't even give any C-members more lines in the Mandarin version so I'm not sure her screentime will be much better in CM. At least she got to dance in the center for a few times so that's still better than MMM. She's destined to be the underpromoted member this era, I can feel it. Her time will come though. 

 

I saw your comment about your disappointment at the chinese version. For me, I prefer the chinese version because their voices sound much less grating compared to the korean version. The advantage of not understanding the language, you can enjoy the song without getting distracted by bad pronunciation   I'm dying to hear the Chinity's version of the song though, with proper pronunciation and all.

The pronunciation is painful, you don't even know.   By the time Xuan Yi's line finally comes along, it's so gratifying to my ears. Before, I never paid attention to people who called WJSN as female EXO but now I'm just like. Okay. When it comes to Chinese pronunciation,  that statement is so true LOL. If they're going to continue doing Chinese versions, I hope they switch up the line distribution, or maybe the girls will improve.

 

 

 

Omg lol poor you. They really need to utilize the chinese speakers better if they want to release music in China, or else no one would want to listen to those songs. I never know that exo-m's pronunciation is also that bad lol. What do you think about Super Junior's mandarin songs? Are they decent at least? 

 

 

I have the same experience with those "Hitler reacts to...." meme videos. They are supposed to be very hilarious but because I understand the conversations so I just find those videos cringey. Sometimes understanding a language takes the enjoyment out of certain things.

I guess it's a good thing they didn't waste time on a Chinese album since they treated line distribution like the Korean version.

 

Kinda wish their Mandarin fluency levels could compare to UNIQ's Korean members.

 

I'm still a bit mad that they don't change the line distribution, instead they let the Korean girls parroting the lyrics instead.    What a waste of Mei Qi.
