(appreciation) TOP3 vocal girl groups

Recommended Posts

(this is about the top 3 strong vocal girl groups. if your fave isn't included despite having a super strong main vocalist, it's probably because the rest of the members are too weak in comparison. if you want a thread about strong main vocals like luna and u.ji then this is not your thread)

1. davichi

davichi's strength is emotion. the other two groups listed here are also emotive, but davichi songs have a way of making you feel like they're ready to burst into tears while singing. that's what makes the duo so popular with OSTs, is their ability to make the audience feel something when they perform just by using their voices.

2. 15&

15&'s strength is balance. what one member doesn't have, the other does. jimin's strengths lie in vocal support, range and rap while yerin's lie in agility, musicality and dance. they're even balanced outside of music; jimin is known to be strong on variety while yerin has always been praised for her endlessly improving visuals.

3. mamamoo

mamamoo's strength is performance. they're all talented singers with a strong rapper to add, but what makes them special is that they also know how to execute their talents in a way that appeals to the public, at the same time showing off their own style. can't wait to see them slay a dance stage too, their dancers are strong.

say what you want, but you can't insult these girls' talents

anyway the real reason i made this thread was to lowkey promote davichi's new single, go buy white by davichi ft. jay park

Spica tho.

Aren't they as good as Mamamoo?

spica is lower than mamamoo but not by much, idk if this were a top5 i'd probably include spica as #4

Can a duo really be considered a girl group tho

i didnt think so but the melon site considers them a group so i just went by that

nope. they have only 1 above average member and the others are average-above average. Mamamoo has two above average-competent vocalists and 2 above average vocalists. Solar is on the higher end of the aa-competent scale so she alone is better than all of the members in SPICA. thats what I read in the vocal thread :)

Honestly, everybody knows Spica is mad talented because every single article I've come across about underrated idols, Spica's almost always mentioned. However, I personally think Mamamoo has a bit of an upper hand over them because Spica lacks stage presence. Both groups exudes the same mature image, which is not too well received in the kpop world, and that's where the stage presence becomes a huge factor. Unlike Mamamoo, I think Spica's stages tend to feel a bit too rehearsed so their performances tend to be a bit boring in my opinion.

The vocal thread guys said that even tho Moonbyul is a Rapper, she's good enough to be analyzed as a vocalist. She's in the Above Average area which is impressive since she's not even a sub-vocal let alone lead or main

did you misread something... vocal thread said there's a considerable gap between moonbyul and the other members, she's average at most

they also always say the mamamoo vocalists are all above average

I agree with this list tbh.

And if I was doing a top 5 I'd have:

#4 Spica -  Spica's vocals are good, but they're not quite as good as the other 3 at harmony and performance...though they haven't had much chance to prove it T.T Where you be, Spica?

#5 BEG - Don't really go in for harmony but have one awesome rapper, one awesome vocalist and two pretty decent vocalists so I'd put them up there next .

What do all these 5 groups have in common? Every member has significant musical talent. I can't really think of any more girl groups that fit in that category.

This is by my preference,

1. TTS (if sub-unit groups included), bcs i am a Sone and TaeTiff are my biases lol. :ahmagah:

2. Davichi, i love ballads and most of their songs are. Haeri is good vocalist and tho Minkyung is above average vocalist but she makes a good balance in the group.

3. I'm sorry, i dunno lol. I don't follow groups bcs of their vocal but more to performances, the vocal group that i really know is just Davichi. I prefer to soloists in term of vocal. :hurr:
