Do you think Korea-pop would be different if

Kara, T-ara, Miss A, Secret, Sistar, etc would dominate. All snsd and wonder girls fans would naturally like the next top girl group. It's not like they'd disappear lol The interest for idols would still be there. SM did wonder for snsd though, so not sure if any other company could get their group to match snsd's success...

No, it'd still be what it is today.

Jewelry were one of the top girl groups around when Wonder Girls hit it big with Tell Me. One More Time was #1 on Music Core/Bank for like 7 weeks in a row. Brown Eyed Girls and Seeya were also gaining popularity at the time, too.

People seem to forget that the Wonder Girls brought back the girl group trend... So is both those groups did not debut, male groups would probably chart better than female groups generally do.

Another girl group would have teared through the scene. If Wg or GG didn't exist, JYP and SM would still have a female group and multiple trainees lined up, they wouldn't be sitting on their asses. The next big girl group song would have been a huge hit, and then 2ne1 would probably be top tier too

If the Wonder Girls and SNSD had not debut most of the girl groups nowadays probably wouldn't exist.  You can't say that the next girl group would have been a massive success, because there were groups that debut before them, but met with more varying successes.  It's not like Korea was girl group hungry and would latch onto any girl group that existed, 2NE1 debut after these two girl groups were in their brightest days, so you can't really say YG always had plans on making 2NE1 either.

You're absolutely wrong. "Nobody", "Tell me", "Gee", "Mister" would just be given to next girl group and they'd hit success. Yes Korea was girl group hungry, why else would all those kpop girl groups rise?? One hit song from any girl group would set the craze off.

It's like imagine if we lived in an era where TVXQ didn't disband and WG stayed in Korea and both dominated. OP would ask the question "What would happen if WG and TVXQ didn't exist?" and you'd probably answer that "idol groups wouldn't be as popular". No, the answer is that some other group would get the public's attention and fill in the gap AKA Big Bang, SNSD, EXO, 2pm, Kara, 2ne1, etc. which is what we have today

The same thing would happen if SNSD and WG didn't exist. Their hit songs would just be given to another group and that group would dominate. You forget that most of the girl groups debuting in 2008-2010 had trainees training from 3-7 years way before the debut of WG and SNSD. Many companies already had plans to debut a girl group, and they did (after school, t-ara 2ne1 kara miss a etc etc etc)

It was Irony that bought back the trend.  As I said they could have just latched onto the girl groups they already had if they were that girl group hungry.  I'm saying Girl Groups would not have been as relevant, because in that time boy groups like Big Bang, TVXQ and even 2PM would have bought the attention to boy groups and the public simply would have cared more for Boy Groups if the Wonder Girls and SNSD did not exist.  That being said, it's assuming that if these 2 groups did not exist, nor would the songs that made them big.

Nope, Irony wasn't successful at all, it was just another idol song with mediocre sales. And still, Irony would be given to the next JYP group.

Why would you think the songs wouldn't be that big? There weren't anything extremely special about WG other than that they were one of the first girl groups. Some other girl would have gotten the"omono" part that made Sohee famous in Tell Me and would become the next Sohee. Hundreds of pretty talented girls audition for JYP and literally any of them would have been the next Sohee or Sunmi.

Also SNSD had member revisions like 10 times. More than probably 9 other girls were changed last minute yet any could make the same impact with Gee.

You see that girl in the middle besides Yoona? That's Stella Kim, she could EASILY be the next top visual/yoona if SNSD didn't exist. Also Soyeon almost joined Taeyeon, she could fill in the place of Taeyeon. Also SM would have the exact same game plan and strategies and resources to promote their next big girl group just like they did to SNSD. Gee would propel any girl group at that time, it just so happens that SNSD got it. If Gee was given to the next SM group if snsd didn't exist, Gee would still sell the same amount. It's not like they'd just not debut anyone, thousands of talented girls audition for SM and SM would have their hit group and create a national idol group because they're SM.

SM and YG and JYP would create a girl group eventually and a national girl group would have to exist. There hasn't been a time when a national girl group didn't exist from 2008, and I'm 100% positive a national girl group would exist today if WG and snsd hadn't existed, there's always that spot to fill

Umm... Korean netizens are the ones that say Irony, Tell Me and Nobody are the Wonder Girl's triple hit..  Timing is crucial to why these groups made it big.  I was assuming that if these groups didn't exist, it meant that SM and JYPE would not had plans to debut a group until their next girl group.  But by the time say miss A or f(x) debut, boy groups would of had the trend for a while assuming Big Bang etc still did exist and therefore boy groups would be more of the trend.  I'm not saying another Nation girl group wouldn't exist and I'm not saying the members are what matter.  Yes SM could of had a completely different line up for SNSD, but they probably still would have been called SNSD, but we're talking about if the whole concept and group as SNSD would not have existed.  Not everything SM comes out with would have been a success.  The Grace is a good example of why not everything SM does well and why Korea wasn't necessarily hungry for girl groups.

Hmm, well I'd suspect if they didn't have plans to debut until later, there'd still be a national girl group coming from another company. T-ara, 2ne1, Kara, After School, Apink, Secret, Sistar, Brown Eyed Girls, Jewelry would still exist and one of these groups would be put to a national girl group title, because koreans like to have a national something lol Abracadabra, One More Time, Mister, I Don't Care, etc. were all mega hit songs of the year and would catch more attention.

Also you said that Boy groups were quite dominant but boy groups and ballad singers were already the most dominant acts in kpop from 2004-2008. These include TVXQ, SG Wannabe, Suju, Shinhwa, etc. Pretty much 4-5 years, but Wonder Girls STILL managed to break through.  Imo It doesn't matter when the next big girl group would come out, it could be 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011 but the next national girl group would eventually rise and become as loved by the nation as WG and Snsd, no matter the deal with boy group dominance. This is because the craze was ready to happen and any group would start the craze. Any of the groups I mentioned in bold would not be overshadowed by SNSD/WG and one would eventually rise to be the very top girl group. Just my two cents

Hdu insinuate that some of us would just latch onto the next top GG

*conveniently forgets the fact that she spent the first half of the year prepping a funeral for her WG items and getting ready to stan 6mix*

The "triple hits" Knetz commonly refer to are Tell Me, So Hot, and Nobody.

Idky they never say "quadruple hits" since 2dt did really well  :._.:
