Do you hate when people listen and react to your conversations?

I find it annoying when people listen and react to other peoples conversations, which has nothing to do with them, especially couples (they must find each other so boring)

I was eating with my friends, and this couple sat next to us.

We started talking about video games and anime (which we do), and when I started talking, they just turned to look at me for a few seconds (that judge stare)

(not quite like this, but close enough...in my mind)

I'm not sure but the woman called me childish (well somebody has to be boring grown up)

Some guy also turned around to look (also a couple)

This is why I don't like talking in restaurants...

*maybe I should carry a couple of eggs in my hand bag, may come in handy*

We're still quite young so I thought it was a bit strange for them to react like that.

(then again that's British people for you, we find anything even remotely a "little different" judge worthy)

I just think that whatever age you are, whether you're younger or older. You should like anything you want. You don't have to have the same interests as everyone. Do what you feel most comfortable with.  Its still annoying as heck when people judge you for it though, but what are you going to do. Life.

So yeah, feel free to share your pains of the nosy people (if you have any)

:)

True and I get shit all the time from people when I watch anime...like are you srs? A lot of anime shows go in so much deeper and tackle touchy subjects than most of the shit aimed at adults

But yeah enjoy what you love, why care what people think? The only ones being childish are the ones judging you for doing what you love to do

I'm not that bothered by it tbh unless it's something private. I mean if they're alone they don't have anyone to talk with to distract them from other people's conversations and it's not like you can close your ears.

But if they turn their heads to judge who cares I don't know them and probably won't see them ever again. If they start talking about it I'd tell them to get a life and find something better to do than to listen to other people's conversation.

One girl actually told me anime is just "cartoons" I cringed so hard at that  and she called me childish. I was like "yeah... you have no idea what you're talking about. So I'll just pretend you're actually intelligent".

I'm glad my family doesn't judge me though, in a serious sense. They know what I like, and it makes me happy. Some anime have really amazing stories and I admire the art work.

yeah, sometimes it's so freaking annoying. When my friend and I were talking about kpop one day, this jerky guy in my class overheard and then told the whole entire class, "Kpop sucks. No one even likes kpop. Well, except for -my name- and -my friend's name-. Whoever likes kpop are morons" I just wanted to punch him in the face right there, because he was being so goddamn… stupid.

I dont really mind unless my conversation is something really private. Last week I was on the train with my friend we were talking about milk(?) and some nice looking guy next to us told us a related story. Lol it was random/interesting.

Though I cant take a call when I'm in one quiet place with a lot of people. Most of the time those are serious and I get anxious if someone hears so I never do it.

Some people just don't get it tbh

And then you turn around and see those same people judging you for watching anime watch Frozen like 10 times lmao

And true. The vast amount of different art styles and stories in anime and some cartoons (A:TLA or LOK) have such vast amount of detail placed into them. And if you think about it, they're really just one big art piece

I don't mind if people interject to ask a question or because they are also interested in the topic, because I love talking to new people, but I'd probably get annoyed if a random stranger was being judgmental and interjected to tell me how to live my life like the person in the OP.  I've never had that happen though luckily!

I don't have a particular interest in anime, but I think it's stupid to judge people for liking it.

I hate that too. I usually just stare back at them until they look away.

Right? If something like anime or video games or kpop or WHATEVER brings someone happiness and makes their lives more enjoyable, why would you want to put them down for it? It doesn't make any sense to me. They're not hurting you or affecting your life in any way, so let people enjoy the things they love.

I can assume those types of people dislike that a person can be comfortable with themselves. They're probably very conscious about what others think. When they see someone that doesn't fit their stereotype, that's why they either try to label them or try to bring them down, so they can be insecure. They need therapy.
