I don't see how elementary and secondary school students get hours of homework a night; they'd end up doing it to get it done but not retain anything at all, or they would just not do it. But in undergrad without the hours of homework assignments for my accounting and finance classes I wouldn't have learned a damn thing. Saturn Girl 2,292 Posted December 13, 2015 Share Posted December 13, 2015 Of course, it helps one memorize, practice and re-learn (which is hella important because 8)% (i think) of information learned during a lecture/lesson is lost if one doesn't go over it again in 24 hours. Homework helps one to better understand a subject and apply their knowledge from the classroom into different questions. Exams on the other hand... It was basically do the stuff you think is adequate for you to take in the knowledge to pass the class. In Uni, I started getting actual homework and tbh I don't really find it all that useful. xiah.junsu 3,364 Posted December 13, 2015 Share Posted December 13, 2015 yes, we need homework esp since most of us are lazy mofos with zero discipline. i still hate homework (because as i said, i'm lazy), but having my cgpa dependent on whether i did my shit, it helps. but ofc, there are some stupid ass assignments that don't help my understanding at all + worse if it's group project because besides being useless af, it pisses you off to work with bitches. cliche af, but practice does make perfect (well unless you're in some crazy classes whose purpose is to fail the fuck out of all students like what happen in engineering kids in my uni). I hated homework, but when I was getting my BSEE degree I did it all my making sure I understood all the questions and how to get to the correct answers. Helped me immensely on the tests and to get good grades. My experience was that most students who slacked off on the homework struggled with their grades. I'm the type of student who can't bring herself to study or review unless I'm told to do so; homework and its deadlines are the push that I needed to do just that.
