Vocal Ranking in TWICE

We all know that jihyo is the main vocal, nayeon and jungyeon are lead vocals. But how would you rank their vocals? I didn't start this topic to diss on any specific members and i know chaeyoung + dahyun + momo are more inclined towards rapping/dancing so its unfair to rank them but still, i would love to see Once's opinion based on who they think is best vocal-wise

 

This is my personal ranking with no bias whatsoever
 

1st. Jihyo

3rd Mina

4th Jungyeon

5th Tzuyu

I personally feel that Mina has a very steady voice despite the fact that she doesn't sing much, but her voice in every live performance has been pretty much good and i don't see her cracking her voice or having any difficulties. I had wanted to put Tzuyu higher up in the list too but she's a wild card so i'll wait on putting her above jungyeon. I placed sana below the rest because she was sick during the promotions so i couldn't really compare her with the rest :( 

my 7th to 9th is voided because chaexmoxhyun are more of the rapper/dancer type so i can't really make a choice.

Mina has the best voice in Twice, stable and she's a talented singer IMO. Even though she might not be a 'powerful' vocalist she should be getting more lines because her voice sounds good on Twice track and is nice to listen to.

haha no way i love twice more than anything in my life right now i just wanted to see how the rest of the fandom feel towards them receiving lines and who have yet to fully shown us their vocal potential.

For me the ranking is:

 

1. Jihyo

2. Nayeon

3. Jungyeon/Mina/Tzuyu

4. Dahyun/Chaeyoung

5. Sana

6. Momo

 

The 3rd are tie due to the fact that Tzuyu has been more stable than the others at times, and mina has a good sound and jungyeon has the ablilty to go albeit higher. The underrated ones for me are the ones in 3 and 4, they deserve to share more lines with the two up there.

I love Jungyeon's voice but during stage performances, she tends to crack a lot. I'm puzzled at her coz on Sixteen, she's very stable. I think Mina deserves to be in the lead vocal line too since she sounded nice, quite stable and different. I'm putting Chaeyoung above Jungyeon coz I think she's the triple threat and she manages to sound good most times while rapping or singing (she does get some singing parts. Same w/ Dahyun & Momo).

I like Dahyun's singing more than rapping so I hope she'll be put more in the sub vocal line next cb.

The thing I have w/ Tzuyu is that while she does sing well, I can hear her accent. Not bashing or anything but I think the lines that she got was appropriately enough.

Momo's definitely the lead rapper. It's hard to really rank her since her singing part are the least or at least, short lines. Hard to judge by that.

 

Honestly, I think that if Jungyeon didn't crack so much she'll be the main vocalist. Her tone is so much nicer than Jihyo.

When she improves, (coz I believe she will) my ranking will be -

I'm not a vocal expert or anything but this is my ranking! Love TWICE though

Mina and Sana have the most potential, their vocal tones are very unique and if you watch SIXTEEN their technique isn't bad too. Mainly need to work on projection/power. Jungyeong Nayeon and Jihyo are adequate enough to sustain the rest of their career at the current level, as they get older and more experienced their performances will naturally become more stable.

Unique vocal tone is one of the most important qualities in an idol, its your sonic calling card that allows people to easily identify and associate your songs with your group. This is why I consider AOA's Jimin to be the most important vocalist of her group; you could replace all of Choa's parts with Yuna or some other singer with 'normal' tone and the average non-fan wouldnt really notice but Jimin's trademark "HEY" instantly allows everyone to know that this is an AOA song.

I'm honestly not sure about Dahyun's vocals because she has improved from Sixteen but she seems just okay when comparing the studio records to her live performance. Her voice tone has gotten way better though and I'll like both her singing and rapping more if she keeps practicing. Tzuyu has improved even more and I like that she has confidence when singing. I agree with her being a nice surprise~

Momo needs JUSTICE lol Her vocal performance during Sixteen was in the top half for me personally, she even growled and was very steady even as she dances the most powerfully on stage. I hope she gets more lines but I doubt it because she's already known as the main dancer. 

3 and 4 are interchangeable. Chaeyoung is the main rapper but damn her vocals are also good, I don't think anyone can deny this. It was too bad Sana was sick, I was expecting because I thought her projection was great, kind of like Jungyeon's except her voice probably isn't popular with the general public. Mina is also really steady and projects well despite her naturally quiet voice. Plus, the fact that she's only trained for a year and a half makes me really anticipate her progress while in Twice. 

Jungyeon is a good vocalist for an idol group, but I haven't seen her ever hit those trilly things that main vocalists do lol Does anyone get me? I don't know the proper term. And that's why Nayeon and Jihyo are #1, also because they perform above average practically all the time. The only difference is Jihyo can hit the big notes and has a louder voice.


I love Twice as a group, so I hope no one gets offended with what I'm about to say. I absolutely do not mean to diss them. 

I've seen topic titles regarding Twice's vocal skill, etc. I can kind of get why so many people are thinking that they're "talentless" or have "no good vocals". Usually, an idol group has that vocalist that people can imagine singing amazing OSTs, musicals, can go solo, or yadiyada. I guess, no one in Twice stands out to said "haters" but that absolutely does not mean Twice is talentless. Honestly, people be exaggerating their words unnecessarily. This group has a lot of talent and potential, I feel like they're going to burst in a few years as all the members skills keep improving, even their main/lead vocalists.

6- Tzuyu (Surprisingly improved since Sixteen ðŸ˜)

8- Dahyun (I want her to get many vocal line in the near future since I watch her performance in Do It Again live ðŸ˜)

9- Momo (in Sixteen, I'll rank her above Sana tho, she need to work on her pronunciation more, that must be why she uncomfortable with)

1. Jihyo (Best projection and most support out of everyone, pretty stable but tone & pitch are hit or miss at times)

 

2. Nayeon/Jungyeon (Jungyeon was better during Sixteen imo she was more stable and had vibrato more often BUT she sounds better at fanmeets then live performances so it might just be nerves, Nayeon has gotten better might be up with Jihyo next comeback)

 

3.Mina (has some good projection, a small vibrato, and good during radio, biggest asset is that she trained the shortest of all the girls so she definitely will get better over time)

 

4.Sana (Sana was sick this promo but she sounded like she improved cause she had a little vibrato in Ohh-Ahh but if you compare her voice to the top three in Like a Fool she like the "umph" and support the other three have but she can get better)

 

5. Chaeyoung/Tzuyu (about the same, Tzuyu definitely improved and if she keeps working hard will only go up, Chae I think they'll focus her more on rap so her vocals might stay the same)

 

7.Momo/Dahyun (Both will be focused on rap, but they can both hold a tune, Momo probably got the least also cause she's one of the worst at Korean atm lol)

Jungyeon cracked during Jonghyun's Blue Night and other music shows too. She's really unstable. I agree that it might be nerves though so she just needs more time & practice.
