So since we aren't getting much Pentagon news up until probably during Hyuna's comeback promotions...

 

We should do a 30 day challenge thing here or sth like it to make the waiting a little less boring lol What do you think?

You can count me in. But what exactly do you have in mind?

DAY 1

What made you watch PENTAGON Maker &

what kind of expectations did you have of the show/participants when it started?

 

(I just typed a long ass essay and it disappeared OTL because I pressed a wrong button...Let me start again)

 

I am a melody and I follow Jolene on twitter and knew that Cube was going to debut a new boygroup. The IG pictures didn't have me hyped tbh. Because visuals are not enough for me to stan people immediately. The turning point, the moment I decided to stan them 100% was the "See you again" performance, which was also the first performance I saw. I fell in love with Hui at first "note"   

 

My expectations

1) I thought they won't get along with each other very well. 

Because they all joined at different times and some of them only know each other for a year or even less. I thought there would be tensions between them because you know some might be jealous if someone just comes in a few months before debut and debuts with them, while they worked hard for years for a chance.

But it seems like they are all openminded and get along very well together. They make more skinship than I expected     

2)I was kind of worried Hongseok wouldn't really fit into the group.

I actually didn't know much about Hongseok. Only knew about his IG "scandal" and I admit I had a bad image of him in mind. But I was positively surprised by his character. Don't hate me for this but visually he really didn't appeal to me. He somehow looked mean or arrogant to me but he actually has a good heart, I've seen that through Pentagon maker. I am glad Cube took him in.

 

3)I didn't expect the maknaes to be the manliest xD

I was so shocked by Yuto & Wooseok's deep voices when I watched their first performances. I was also shocked by their height. From Jolen's blog and fantaken pics I was expecting them to be tall but not that tall   The height differences are so cute.

 

4)Jinho adorableness and his powervocals

He is the oldest so I didn't expect him to be so cute XD His vocals also exceeded my expectations. I could listen to his voice 24h x)

EDIT: Some girl on twitter got to hug him. She has been waiting there in the cafe and met almost all of the members. But couldn't take a picture so she asked for a hug from Hongseok.

DAY 2

Who is/are your bias/es in PENTAGON and why?

Who is your bias wrecker, if any, and why?

 

My first bias was Hui after I saw the first performances. The reason is I have a thing for people whose voices touch your heart. Hui is super hilarious too. I like people with humor   But after the release of the mission videos Kino and Edawn have been climbing up in my bias list. Right now I would say they share the #1 spot. 

I like Kino because he is an amazing performer. His stage presence is no joke and it seems like he's really passionate about being able to stand on stage. I love his laugh   It's addicting. 

Well as for Hyojong...I would have never thought I would bias him because when he was promoting with Hyuna, I actually didn't like him. Maybe even disliked him haha. But Pentagon Maker changed everything. He has those random funny moments that always surprise me and make him more likable. Maybe I got to like him too because he's bff with Hui xD I love their friendship (Push and Pull). I also think he is one of the members, who have the most potential. When you get used to his voice his rapping is actually good. He is a top dancer and even a songwriter. 

 

Hmm bias wrecker...

Yan An: He is not only goodlooking but also super hilarious XD I also think he has a lot potential. He has been a trainee for a year so there's definitely more to his abilities. I like his voice and if he fixes his pronunciation he can go on variety shows and become the next variety king hehe.

DAY 3

 

What's your first impression of the members?

 

Hwitaek: When I first saw his teaser, I thought he would be one of the quiet members. But I was wrong. He is really talkative. He talks non stop sometimes xD

Hyunggu: He looked kind of young so I wasn't expecting much from him. His teaser also didn't really impress me. But now I know he is an amazing performer.

Hyojong: I always thought he looked kind of arrogant and hard to approach. But he's actually very cute and has lots of aegyo. And seems to be jokester.

Wooseok: Not gonna lie I thought he looked weird in that one pic posted on Cube.tree IG. So I actually thought he is ugly :D

Shinwon: I don't know. I thought he would be the most normal one. But he's the most random xD

Hongseok: I thought he looked kind of mean. But he's a kind person

Yuto: I still can't believe he's a 98 liner.....

Yan An: On the Cube tree pictures he looked so "baby-like" so I thought he was not that tall and not that muscular. But he's one of the manliest and tallest members.

Yeo One: His selcas looked so good (on Cube.tree IG) so I thought he would be someone who cares a lot about his looks.^^

Jinho: I don't know more. probably that he looked cute.^^

Organic song sounds so gooooood as a Pentagon song with all 3 different tone rappers in it omg

Yoo I just saw the ep. Organic song really sounds good with all 3 rappers.

I hope later they'll release more nice sub-unit songs, when they debut.

sub units why don't companies go for this option more often? You could get away with less promo, and maybe hit a winner or at least encourage members to be more independent in music creation.

Yes I hate companies who won't let their artists make their own music.

From what I've seen Yuto is actually quite popular among I-fans.

Wooseok as Healer (Ji Chang Wook)

Hui as Chae Young Shin (Park Min Young)

Shinwon as Ahjumma (Kim Mi Kyung)

Because it's Yeo One's favourite drama. He can play the female lead xD

Lol Yuto & Yeo One is probably another pair we haven't seen much. Did they have any memorable moments coz I can't remember anything in particular on top of my head atm. O.o

Your favorite TEAM mission/challenge/games on PENTAGON Maker?

 

1. Boring Team vs. Hilarious Team - Game Showdown

DAY 7

 

I'll list a couple (variety) shows that from what I've observed (as someone who has been more or less following Cube & its artists) Cube has sent their idols to appear in often and state the member/s you wish to be on it. Give a brief explanation if you want to.

 

King of Mask Singer

Definitely Jinho. He has been waiting for so long to debut. He is an amazing vocalist and get recognition for that. I really hope Cube will send him there one day.

 

Real Men

I think Yan An would do well on such shows. He seems quite competitive and with his funny random moments he could win a lot of fans there. He also said that he wants to be seen as a man but everyone keeps seeing him as only a cute guy.

 

Dream Team

Hongseok, Yan An, Yuto and Yeo One. Those 4 seem to be the most athletic ones and they have the best builds in Pentagon imo.

 

Laws of the Jungle

I want to see Shinwon & Wooseok there.I think they can overcome everything if they are together.

Since it's important to be a good talker I would send Hui there. I'm sure he also has some individual talents prepared.

DAY 8

 

Air your thoughts about PENTAGON's delayed and uncertain debut.

 

Tbh I badly miss them. We've been spoilt the last two months. But I am trying to see the positive things in the delay. I bet the boys were really overworked these past two months with Pentagon maker, probably recording songs & practicing choreos. I think it's also good for the boys to have a little rest before debuting cause once they debut they won't have time to sleep properly. At least now they don't have to shoot Pentagon Maker and can concentrate on their debut concept, songs and choreos. 

It's also better to debut after the olympics anyway. 

It's just such a waste about the little hype they've established through PM and the guerrilla events. They are seen at the Cube Cafe almost every day. I just hope Cube also uses this to hold a mini live again maybe at the cube cafe. I know they have a little stage there (or they could make space for it). Among all this mess I feel so bad for Jinho mostly. He has been waiting for so long to debut. And now has to wait again. He must think he is "cursed" or something. 

 

I wish Cube would at least give us some selfies :( I miss the boys. It's gonna be wild when pentagon finally get their own sns accounts xD It will be chaos like Btob's sns accounts.

Yuto should smile more often. He's handsome and even more handsome when he smiles.

I don't know I like all of their laughs xD Especially when they laugh altogether lol

Yan An. He definitely has the potential to become the variety King if he gets more fluent in Korean.

Wooseok's "blank" face when he doesn't understand the situation is gold xD So I choose Wooseok.

Favorite Body proportion

Yan An. I really love his proportion. He is also not too thin and not too "bulky".^^

Which interactions or special stages with other idols do you want to see?

 

I hope we can see some ClCxPentagon stages @ the next United Cube concert. 

 

Yeo One x Sungjae should perform "Etude of memory" together since they both like Kim Dong Ryul and bc they both like this song. ^^ 

I hope I can see Kino dance with Yugyeom for a special stage during Gayo Daejun or something similar. Since they went to the same school and seem to be friends with each other, it would be meaningful if they perform together one day on stage.

 

Since my other bias group is Btob, I would love to see a vocal line collaboration some day

Also I think I came across a tweet by a kfan? That Pentagon might debut this month so hopefully its true and we hear more of it soon.

I think wooseok has potential from what we saw in their parody. Shinwon def. Kino seems to be decent too but it may not be n his priority. With how he introduces himself as being the mascot, I reckon he might be one of their variety representative.

 

Cube will def put other members in Dramas n d future. 4m except hyuna were all n dramas/movies. Half of BTOB and Beast too.

 

I will post d next question soon when I arrived home haha was busy with school ^^

Cube avoids mentioning other artists when they r trying o promote one so I'd say hive it earliest next week or after for any kind of concrete/official update from cube about Pentagons debut. I hope they hype them for at least 1.5-2 weeks.

Sungjae just said in an Instagram video that Btob is going to have a comeback very soon. 

 

I haven't been a Cube stan for long. Does Cube let two of their artists promote at the same time though?

 

Cause right now it seems like Btob is scheduled to make a comeback right after Hyuna.

#random but just wanted to share... I never really saw much of it when people said Yan An reminded them of Ze:a's Hyungshik and I was once crazy about Hyungshik back in 2013. Anyway, I ended up re-watching this performance of Ze:a from 2014 and now I can see why those people thought they have the same time of visuals  (I guess I just forgot how Hyungshik look like coz I haven't seen much of him since last year.)

 

 

 

And now watching this... I just can't help imagining that I'm watching Yan An. 

I even thought I heard Yan An singing somewhat lmao I must miss Pentagon so much OTL

Also Yan An went from being at the bottom of my list (around 8?) to now probably in my top 5 ><

They do have similar voices ^^ But I don't really see the resemblance in their looks.
