I don't mind the twerking cuz she's not even doing 'dirty' twerking...like I said, they have been performing the same songs for awhile now and minzy has been through the 'popping' phase with her parts 'the back bend' phase with her parts, the 'split' phase, the 'cartwheeling' phase,etc. she just only started doing twerking. People have more problems with what Twerking actually is than that she is doing too much of it.

 

Not really sure what unique dancing is to you guys especially in that performance. Of course if a performance is not performed a lot like Last Farewell was, it would be 'unique'. I think a problem is people expect minzy to take performances that have been done over a hundred times and expect her to make great changes. One, her parts will not allow the hardcore stuff that you guys are looking for and two, even if she did, she only has a little bit of time to show it and then she has to get back in flow with the others. She herself wishes for 2ne1 choreo that isn't typically 2ne1.

 

I want her to use Minzy tv to showcase her doing choreography that's made for her and you just upload more of her dance practices. I just afraid that the more she isn't pushed the easier it'll be for her to lose passion, she already had a moment during her 2ne1 career were she expressed how afraid she was that she was losing passion.

 

One of the things that bothers me is how YG isn't pushing 2ne1 to their potential, sometimes I feel like he doesn't 'see' 2ne1.

 

In terms of her solo...I have no idea. We can't use Big Bang as a template cuz all of the members had a solo song during their first year so...

 

Yeah I agree. It's like YGE doesn't know the girls' potential, and truly understand them and how good they can be if they are maxed out? And out of all the 2NE1 members, the one losing out the most out of this situation is Minzy I feel. It's been 4 years, and the stage experience she's been given is soo freaking damn limited. In 4 years, all she has done onstage is 2NE1 songs and umm covers with the girls or dances to others' songs (I somehow dont feel like counting the Missing You feature with GD since it was like just a last minute thing). She hasn't been pushed to her potential that everyone can see and feel. Not much of a nudge if all she does is covers. And that is what I'm most upset about as a Minja. I don't want her to be wasted of that potential she has. I don't want her to waste her long trainee years and the giving up her education and not get her true potential tried and tested.

 

Regarding her solo, I, personally, don't have hopes for it even though I try very hard to remain optimistic about it. A featuring would be already amazing just even about now. To me, solos are a way to test a person. And I'd love for that to happen to minzy cause I want her to test herself out. But i don't even know if that'll happen. People keep saying she's young and she will have her time, but sometimes, I'm like, what has age got to do with it? And will she really have her time?

I agree with you. I hate the 'she's young she has time' argument. Her being young is when she should be being pushed and why does she have to wait just cuz she's the youngest, that doesn't make sense. 

The only hope I'm looking at right now is if Minzy takes it upon herself, Minzy tv was a start in the right direction I hope is learns to use it to her advantage. 

 

I think that YG should be building up his artists confidence, keeping their strengths, and improving their weaknesses but it's like going further, he doesn't 'see' Minzy. It's like being in 2ne1 is bad enough but being in minzy's position is even worse.

I agree with you!   My sister and I are both Minzy's stan and we keep saying this. I feel bad for her. I mean she doesn't even ft in someone else's song, except for that song Missing You, which I had no idea it existed.

^ my thoughts too. I feel like because Minzy's been getting restricted by YG so much, when she's onstage, she just goes crazy and lets out whatever she can let out, which includes going all crazy and ero without much thought haha. 

 

I think YGE doesn't really give Minzy much exposure/training on to how she can ace her dancing down :/ Letting her develop more as a dancer. Which is very disappointing as a management/talent developing company (?) to me. I hope she ventures out on that aspect on her own if she's allowed to..

 

Anyway, she had so much power into her moves in this performance yesterday <3

 

 

I feel like in kpop once a group debuts the company ceases training them and expects them to improve on their own. They may work with singing but with dancing it can't be applied. Minzy is probably bored with the simple 2ne1 choreo and lack of dance sessions.

 

Sometimes I think Minzy gets bored performing the same songs over and over again especially with the kind of parts she has...

 

Hopefully this next comeback will challenge her. My ultimate wish is for her to upload the songs shes been writing and producing as well as upload videos of the dance workshops she goes to...If she gets a YT account I will be ultra happy.

I definitely agree you. The same routines and the same 20 sec dance solos is probably tiring, and honestly as a fan I'm a little tired of watching the same thing. I really hope YG allows 2ne1 some creativity, routine wise, on this upcoming comeback. Ah I'd kill to see Minzy have her own youtube account!!!  She may even gain more fans that way!! Btw did she ever release ep 6 of Minzy TV? It looked MJ themed but it was never released. :/

I've never seen this one before   I have to agree, I do miss the unique dancing Minzy, she did some stuff that would just wow me. Now, what she mostly does mostly is just shake her butt. Don't get me wrong, I think we all enjoy it when she does it but every now and then to perform like before would be really great. CL too, she's gotten to sexual on stage, sometimes I think she wants to overshadow minzy's dancing   but we all know that's never gonna happen. I've always thought, and seen, CL tends to overshadow the other girls, in MVs, live performances, interviews, etc.

 

So does anyone have any idea when will Minzy debut as solo, or have a song just for her? 4 yrs and nothing :sad:

thats something I think CL needs to improve. Its ok to be  fierce and own the stage but I wish she'd let the others take the limelight now and then. The members are at fault too, though. They should take the initiative and try speaking up more or try taking turns in hyping up the crowd instead of leaving CL to do all the work. Oh gosh, about the Minzy solo. I feel like YG won't even bother with her until the last years of 2ne1 or after 2ne1 disbands. she would do so well with a solo and knetz may start repsecting her for her beautiful voice and talent! If 2ne1 ever disbands, I think I may be happier if she left YG for a company more willing to pay attention to her gifts.

Yeah. I liked how she mentioned that she went and wants to go for more dance classes in 2011, shows how she really wants to continue improving herself. Idk if she's still doing it now since she is less open on Twitter now, but I'll be ecstatic to know if she is. I wonder what happened to Minzy TV ep 6 too! Did she get blocked from releasing it? Cause she was so excited to release it, and then.. nothing. And as for your last point about leaving YG for another company, I will confess that I have had those thoughts too. Next year is 2NE1's last year based on contract of 5 years, I have no idea if they'll continue to sign on. Makes me scared to think about it lol.

I don't think its that people think her dancing is dirty, its just that its the same thing over and over, but by the way you explained it, it does make sense why she does what she does. And that is one of my biggest fears. Its blatantly obvious, on stage, when Minzy isn't feeling well in terms of motivation and passion. No one wants to be stuck doing the same thing. I think all us minjas can agree that we wish YG pushed Minzy and 2ne1 more than he does now. They all need to be challenged, although it seems CL is getting her chance with her solo debut, but I feel bad for others. Especially Minzy who gets the short end of 2ne1, and Dara too. Dara's number one passion is acting, yet YG has done absolutely nothing to get her a head start in that field, aside from starring in mv's. People always say Minzy is too young for a solo (such a stupid excuse to keep Minzy down) and that Dara should start acting when she's older because thats the age most k-actresses reach success.   How old will Dara and Minzy have to be before they are allowed to do what they want and are good at? Why does YG waste 2ne1 like this? They could be soooooo popular right now if he would allow 2ne1 to thrive!!! Dara's appearance in dramas would shoot 2ne1's popularity through the roof and Minzy's solo would attest to 2ne1 being a group full of talent and charisma!! Btw Kang Sora looks soooooo beautiful!!!

I'll be soooo sad if 2ne1 decides to disband... but, honestly I can't imagine Minzy and Dara suffering through the same treatment for another 5 years or so. If they do disband, I'll be heartbroken especially since YG didn't even use 2ne1's full potential, but I would hope all the girls continue in the industry and remain life long friends. I hope she'ss been doing dance lessons to keep herself sharp. I feel like she intended to release it, but then her grandmother died and she kind of closed off a little then.

Remember how all of a sudden there were fans coming out of the woodwork to praise Minzy when the picture of her working with orphans came out? If she always got press for all the hard work she has put in, she couldn't be used as a scapegoat so much.

PREACH PREACH PREACH!!!! I'm so glad I've found someone else who shares the same feelings! :sad: This is why I don't like to visit the 2ne1 thread or other 2ne1 related threads. Minzy is NEVER recognized, mentioned, or as appreciated as the other members. Yet when an argument concerning the members pop up everyone is so quick to say this or that about Minzy in order to put the others down. And in light of CL's upcoming solo, I hate how everyone is saying "CL can stop carrying the rest of the dead weights" or " finally the only well rounded and talented member of 2ne1" . Makes me want to flip a table and scream! Minzy has the smoothest and most controlled voice in 2ne1. She NEVER cracks, screeches, or strains. She is a naturally talented dancer and her rapping is smooth and concise! Minzy doesn't need to jump around stage or scrunch her face or smile constantly to be considered a great performer. And to consider Minzy less hardworking than CL...   Minzy improved her vocals on her own ad just listen to how amazing she sounds now! Her singing use to be weak and unstable during their debut but listen to her now! She is ALWAYS on pitch and her vocal stamina is impressive! I love you minjas for speaking the words of my heart!!! :sad: :sad:

Yeah, I know, every group has that one person that has the least amount of fans willing to actually pay attention to them and then when people start to rag on them either one of the few people that do actually stan them aren't there to protect them and show all the stuff they've did recently or the fan that is there doesn't feel like getting themselves hated because the stan ratio is so unbalanced. I'm like the ultimate pacifist, even when it comes to bias's like Minzy, I just can't get myself to speak up and start an arguement. If that person decides to try and use their assumptions of one member to try and show how much their favorite member, I just learn to ignore it and move it. Obviously I feel they may be wrong or whatever, but I never feel the need to try and convince them otherwise because most likely whatever I tell them will just go in one ear and out the other.

Even with that orphan news, i think there were still a lot of blackjacks who still brushed it off lol. Speaking of her charity work, I really love how participative she is in her charity doings. I don't think its that people think her dancing is dirty, its just that its the same thing over and over, but by the way you explained it, it does make sense why she does what she does. And that is one of my biggest fears. Its blatantly obvious, on stage, when Minzy isn't feeling well in terms of motivation and passion. No one wants to be stuck doing the same thing. I think all us minjas can agree that we wish YG pushed Minzy and 2ne1 more than he does now. They all need to be challenged, although it seems CL is getting her chance with her solo debut, but I feel bad for others. Especially Minzy who gets the short end of 2ne1, and Dara too. Dara's number one passion is acting, yet YG has done absolutely nothing to get her a head start in that field, aside from starring in mv's. People always say Minzy is too young for a solo (such a stupid excuse to keep Minzy down) and that Dara should start acting when she's older because thats the age most k-actresses reach success.   How old will Dara and Minzy have to be before they are allowed to do what they want and are good at? Why does YG waste 2ne1 like this? They could be soooooo popular right now if he would allow 2ne1 to thrive!!! Dara's appearance in dramas would shoot 2ne1's popularity through the roof and Minzy's solo would attest to 2ne1 being a group full of talent and charisma!! Btw Kang Sora looks soooooo beautiful!!!

:sad:   You know my heart unnie! 2ne1 should all have been pushed from the get-go and I wish he would at least allow them to make some appearances on variety show. It would help their public speaking skills and help gain them more recognition. Blackjacks would freak out at 2ne1 being seen on shows!

 

You get my feels. I feel so frustrated with YGE and how they let go of all the chances to push 2NE1 out even more. I'm not really talking about variety shows cause I think the girls can be kind of bad and really uncomfortable with it lol. I know they do have to learn how to deal with it, but at this point in their career, since they're already doing well without it, I don't mind the lack of variety shows that much haha. But other stuff, like Dara venturing into acting as you said, and also stuff like drama OSTs? Those small things can really cement their position in the industry I feel. I highly doubt 2NE1 didn't get any offers at all for all these things, I just wonder why YGE didn't allow them to do it. 

 

 

I'll be soooo sad if 2ne1 decides to disband... but, honestly I can't imagine Minzy and Dara suffering through the same treatment for another 5 years or so. If they do disband, I'll be heartbroken especially since YG didn't even use 2ne1's full potential, but I would hope all the girls continue in the industry and remain life long friends. I hope she'ss been doing dance lessons to keep herself sharp. I feel like she intended to release it, but then her grandmother died and she kind of closed off a little then.

 

 So I'm not the only one who feels she's been kind of closed off? Especially so after her grandma's passing. There was a point of time that I got very worried for her last year..

Even with that orphan news, i think there were still a lot of blackjacks who still brushed it off lol. Speaking of her charity work, I really love how participative she is in her charity doings. Yeah, other blackjacks were saying Minzy was back to her old self and that shes so strong, simply because she was able to continue with the ILY promotions. But, I could see it in her eyes and in her mannerisms that she wasn't nearly as happy or as free. Its especially evident in her twitter and youtube video releases.  She was working so hard on those releases and was personally tweeting and keeping up with Dougie twitter sooo much. But after her grandmother's death she slowly stopped doing those things and seems slightly more guarded... you know, now that I think about it, this year long 2ne1 hiatus  could have been for the best. Well, at least for Minzy. She really needed a break to get her emotions together and come to terms with what happened. This year was a time for her to be with her family more than usual and possibly gather her thoughts on what her current position and past experiences mean to her. If that really is the case, then I feel selfish for wanting a 2ne1 comeback so soon.

 

 

About the drama's and osts, I totally agree! It would not only give them credit of being a really talented group but let everyone know 2ne1's popularity is not going anywhere any time soon. I'm sure we all doubted 2ne1's popularity, at one point or another, during their hiatus.
