I know. YG's ignored her a lot over the past four years (actually longer than that since she was a trainee for a really long time) and I don't know why. But if he gives her a well thought out and organized solo and allows her to promote it I can somewhat forgive him. It can't be half assed though. My baby deserves her time in the spotlight.

 

Oh wow I remember the rumor about her getting a solo but I never noticed the Shawn Evaristo thing. I loooooved the choreography he did for YG, I'd love to see him choreographing for Minzy.

And yeahh, Shaun choreographing her solo for her would be perfecttt for me. I think he really understands the girls' style of dancing and personality, and in this case, Minzy's, so yeah I'd love to see him choreo-ing for her.

Minzy sounded good (doesn't seem to be her bestest ever though cause the audio for the whole song sounded like it was going on and off but she still did really well). Loved her facial expressions at her intro in Missing You. And her hair <3

She looked so beautiful, but more importantly, she sang beautifully! She still performed well despite her mic wavering in volume and projection. I adored her and makeup as well! My only criticism is that she was. a little too sassy for a sad and heartfelt song like Misssing You. I hope their next single is a dancce track so she can release all that built up energy. it looks like she's been itching performfor the longest time.

What did you guys think about the inkigayo performance?

 

 

I thought it was miles better than the MAMA performance... but it was still slightly lacking imo. One huge thing that annoyed me was how the camera man wouldn't even focus on Minzy when it was her turn to sing. I also have to say I felt like the mood still wasn't set and an emotional impact was lacking.

 

As for the members themselves: Dara was really precious when she sang, and you can tell she's improved. But, consideringg her lines, I wishe would have shown a little more coldness in her face. She still did great, though. Bom had sooo much emotion in her face, it was too perfect. And the expression in her eyes suited the song so well. My only criticism for Bom is that she was shaky in the beinning and took a bit to adjust her pitch. CL sounded so wonderful for most of the verses, nd wow she can emote both vocally and physically. My only complaints are that was flat in the beggining and for the chorus. She also seemed to strain, again, for the chorus. I'm really starting to believe the chorus is slightly out of her range and because she was straining, the emotion in her voice didn't come across. Other than that, she sang very beautifully. Now to baby Minzy!!! Oh gosh, Minzy sounded so amazing!! Perfect pitch and perfect tone. It seemed really effortless for her. I'm so proud that she's improved soooo much since debut days. I secretly wish she sang both choruses since it was perfectly within her ranfe and she had no trouble executing it live. BUT, I have to that our baby girl was still lacking in the proper emotional tone for this song. Its probably because she may not have experienced the kind of heartbreak that Missing You describes, since she is only 19.!

 

Overall all I liked it for more than MAMA but it can't be compared to an "It Hurts" or "Lonely" live just yet.

 

 

 

I wish Minzy had more camera time on inkigayo, more lines in Missing You, more recognition from fans, and I really wish she would've sang both choruses since she sings the chorus soo beautifully both on the track and live. The woes of a minja.

 

^ I noticed the cameraman barely showed Minzy too, I was like wth but whatever.

 

I enjoyed the overall performance for Inkigayo better but talking of only Minzy, I liked Mama better. I just loved seeing her facial expressions and moving to the music, even if it didn't fit with the song XD

 

 

I have a tendency to stan unpopular members so I totally know what you mean. I'm ok with her parts in Missing You since it seems like there wasn't many parts to distribute to begin with, and what she did get she did really well. Part of the problem though was the song lacked a bridge, it just went straight into the 3rd chorus after a small piano moment instead of building into it. Personally I was hoping Dara would get another part towards the end but sadly she didn't. Also I sort of wish someone besides Bom had sang the last chorus, I think her last line would have stood out more if there was a different voice singing before it (not that it didn't stand out because it did but hopefully you get what I'm saying lol)

 

PS - I could edit the song so that Minzy sings in the first chorus after Bom if you want ;) I may have already tried to edit the song into a Bomji duet lol

 

 

Yups, I do agree with you that Minzy lacks the proper emotional tone for this song. It's also one of the reasons why I think she wasn't given as much lines as she could have gotten since her vocal tone was pretty suitable for the song. And it's at these times that I wonder if she's had any dating experience yet. Sometimes I get the feeling that she does, sometimes I'm not sure haha. But in any case, I gotta say that I am excited for her to experience love. I think the experience would help her a lot with her singing and dancing, instead of having to depend on just her imagination. 

 

Anyway, on to the performance, the girls definitely did HEAPS better for Inkigayo and the stage setup was a million times better than MAMA's. The stage did look still a bit too bright to me for the song though. Perhaps I'm expecting a gloomy/dark stage setup because the song is so gloomy lol, but oh well, will just take whatever comes. The performance wasn't 100% perfect but it was good enough. If they improve even more and set a perfect stage, I'll be so proud of them. <3 

 

Comparing Minzy's performance alone between MAMA and Inkigayo, there were some parts that I liked better on MAMA, some parts I liked better for this one.

Although I love the song as it is, a bridge would have probably boosted the quality and impact by a point or two. It would have been nice to hear Minzy sing the bridge.   Bom's last line was too heartbreaking, but you are right about the chorus before the line.  I wasn't too surprised that Dara only got two parts, since they always do that to her during ballads.  But at least she looked super stunning.

She better not get her heart broken! Maybe shes had small crashes and probably dated before but it seems like she's never been in love. As for the stage, I totally agree, but I suspect they're using a bright stage to fit in with the winter season? It just distracts from the mood imo.  I love how we can politely give our opinions in this fandom.   

 

Yes!!! Its getting really obvious since it seems like she can't even stand still during her lines in Missing You, lol.

 

Ahh well, that might be possible actually. I wonder what other setups they have in store for the performances. While the inki stage did look bright, I do love the details in it such as the rotating piano and that L.O.V.E thing CL was sitting on or that box the male dancer was in etc. I wish they could have focused a biiit more on the male dancer though. Or at least make him look visible behind the girls and not at the corner which made him go on and off the screen very frequently. It would add in to the feel of the performance imo (or would it be distracting? idk haha)

 

With that said, re: the recent news. Don't even need to explain about it do I? I'm so proud to be a Minzy stan. So proud, so happy. That's our girl (: Although, I do hope she won't do anything further or get addicted to it. But I trust that she's got a good head on her shoulders <3 And bleh to you YG reps hahaha even though, I guess well, they were just trying to protect her.

Cause the wordpress site admins have been busy since that time, actually even way before that, haha. For me, the only time I can get on the computer is to check updates and then go offline again, so I can't really update it well. I'm proud of Minzy too! I always knew she was an honest girl! We couldn't have picked a better person to stan. I doubt she'd try to do anything  else. From the interview it sounds like both her mom AND the doctor had to suggest Minzy try getting her nose done as well. So it seems the thought of getting plastic surgery probably never weighed heavily in her mind, until others suggested she do it. I'm just glad shes proud of the outcome and happy with herself, I'd hate it if she regretted getting surgery. I'm seriously LMAO over the excuse the YG reps tried to give! You'd think they would have admitted to it since they saw such a positive response form the public. I blame the new employees at YG for making such a bs excuse and denying. Just a while, YG would have done nothing but stay silent and let it pass with time.

 

 

I really hope they change the stages for every performance, and maybe try experimenting with different color schemes. But, it'd be great if they included the male dancer in every stage! I thought he was such a wonderful touch to the inki stage, but sadly, like you mentioned, we couldn't even properly see it. It'd be a great idea to maybe put him in the middle of the girls that way we could catch longer glimpses of his dancing during the wide shots. Imo his dancing added so much emotion to the mv.

 

This. I couldn't really understand what exactly he was trying to portray with the dancing, but it seemed like he was trying to convey a story, and that gave a very nice additional factor to the MV.

I see people are gonna try to paint Minzy's mom as a bad mom for suggesting the nose fix and the weight thing...if it's not one thing it's another.

 

 

I get sad/mad at the fact no one in YG features her too...I really don't understand it.

I am not gonna say she's a bad mom because it's common to have the parents push for PS in Korea. My wife who is Korean got her eyelid surgery paid by her mom when she was young.

I honestly had no idea, I'm just bad with these things I ugess, lol. Glad to see her come out and admit it though and all the support that most people are giving her. With all this publicity it will probably boost the interest in her solo. Then when people check it out because of all this talk, they'll take notice of her amazing vocal abilities & on point dancing skills. Forever my #1 bias. ♥

 

Yeah I didn't quite like that a lot of people are only giving her a lot of attention because of all this talk. But I guess as they say, even 'bad' publicity is publicity. So hopefully this would give her a good boost in people appreciating her talents even more.

MINJAS, what do you all want out of Minzy's upcoming solo? I'm hoping for something that only shows off her vocals but also allows her to dance fiercely!!! Like some of you have mentioned, it really seems like she misses dancing.

 

Something that allows her to show off both her vocals and dancing strongly. Perhaps a bit more on the dancing so that she can cement in her dancing abilities for people who doubt her and at the same time, her title of main dancer in 2NE1. It'd also be a good way of stirring up interest in her solo if they link her dancing abilities to that of her late grandaunt's imo. Dance genes in the family kind of thing?

Can we talk about how Minzy sounds so good in today's performance? Especially that part of hers at 2:16. I love it when she taps into her lower register like that (even if it's for a short moment) <3 And she's emoting more so than the past two performances, love it <3

Yeeeeessssss, girl, yeeeeeessssss!!!! Her voice was so beautiful today! If only korea was more accepting of deeper female voices, then we could hear her sing in her lower register more often. Even Lee Hi is forced to sing in higher notes from time to time just people thinkk she's a grreat singer. T-T Minzy looked and sounded beautiful, but I was hoping they'd change the outfits and hairstyles up and use different ones from the mv. I don't want to kill the joyous mood but, damn that fucken camera man!!! I ha inkigayo camermen! They never want to give Minzy the time of day, not even during her own freaking singing parts! I wish they would perform on other music shows so we could at least see Minzy for the duration of her lines. Her solo needs to get here soon. I'm tired of this unfair treatment!

 

As said in the main thread, I really can't stop replaying her parts in today's performance. I keep going back to repeat it just to hear the way she sounds, it was beautifulll <3 I'm waiting for them to put her in the outfit in our sigs hehe   But her hairstyle, omg keep the hairstyle forever please!! I think she looks so pretty with it! And it's like finally they're starting to experiment with her hair other than wigs/colors only lol.

I want Minzy to have another solo photoshoot. I wasn't a fan of her last one and she has been looking so fabulous this year, it needs to be documented with professional photos.

Oh yes please.. before she chops off her hair again and change it into another color >.< I shall not jinx her hair...
