Out of Big Bang, I've always wanted to see Minzy collaborate with Daesung and GD.

 

I somehow can't picture Minzy doing a collab with Daesung for some reason. What kind of songs would they do if they do collab together? Hmm.. As for GD, I once hoped that would happen since he featured Bom, CL & Dara before, but I kind of gave up on the idea now haha.

Definitely something slower. I think a r&b song or a ballad would be nice for them. They've both got nice warmish tones (I'm bad at trying to describe voices but hopefully you catch my drift lol) I think they'd sound great together.

 

GD is the collaboration I want the most though, I think he brings the best out of the girls when he does music with them so I'd love to see what he does with Minzy. But I don't see GD asking her to collab anytime soon either unfortunately :(

 

 

Ahh I get what you mean. It'd be interesting to hear Minzy & Daesung's voices blending together, but, I think if they ever perform it on stage, it might be a bit awkward just cause haha. Psst maybe we might be proven wrong about her getting to do a collab with GD. Who knows lol. 

 

 

I miss those days of GD teasing Minzy and Minzy getting cutely annoyed at his antics lol. I think we might never see it again cause they seem to have grown apart (and Minzy's gotten older too), so I guess I'll just have to treasure those old cute adorable moments of young Minzy getting mercilessly teased by her oppas T-T

I've seen 2NE1 live, and yeah.. Minzy's pretty amazing to watch.. I don't get people who say she doesn't stand out. What are they seeing then? I would want to know why they think that way. Amazing's not even the proper word to describe it actually. It's so much more than that. If you're not distracted by anything else, she'd totally draw you in with the way she performs. So energetic and strong, not as outwardly as CL is, yet so goddamn charming to watch. Like what @magiccq91 said, it really is a perfect balance between CL & Minzy. Switching watching between the two of them can certainly leave you very satisfied after a live 2NE1 performance. 

 

Idk if I'm just biased, but really though, if you focus on Minzy both live and through fancams (although the former is better), you will get charmed with the way she performs.. She always executes her parts and the choreo with confidence, and her moves are always so clean and sharp. She knows how to hype up the crowd at the necessary times as well and boy,does she know how to give out her fanservice. Not to mention, I know that whenever they perform songs that have certain fixed parts where she busts out her moves (e.g. Fire or Can't Nobody), I'd be holding my breath (when watching it live AND through fancams as well) to see if she would do something new; Or if she does the same old thing, how much better it'd be to see it happening live. And her facial expressions! God, yes, that's the best part of seeing her live. Her facial expressions throughout songs are always, ALWAYS, so on point. Her facial expressions alone can make you feel heavily involved with the song they're performing. And the smiles or smirks she flashes to the crowd... Yeah....

 

Ah, I feel like I'm not giving justice as to how it is like to see her perform in real life. I get how people always seem to lack the proper words in describing seeing Minzy perform live - they usually always go "omg Minzy's flawless, SO amazing, idk how else to say it but Minzy is just perfect" etcetc. I feel like I'm like that too. You just have to see and experience it, to know it? Yeah.. haha >.<

"Need more than talent to have a successful solo" I kind of agree with this. You will need to have the selling power to have a successful solo, which is more than just talent. Which is why I'm kind of hesitant about wanting Minzy to have a solo now. I don't know if it'll sell because as of now, she doesn't have a strong backing in Korea to ensure it does. I'm very afraid that if it doesn't sell, YG will push her down to the dungeons even more. I'd rather her have featurings that'll get her abilities known and herself more recognized first before transiting into solo. Or perhaps, you know, through 2NE1's songs, let her abilities and charms get pushed out to the surface so that she can obtain that much needed recognition instead of just giving her her normal usual verse parts.... Look at Falling In Love & Lonely! When they let her get parts that allows her to shine and show us her versatile abilities, she got sooo much recognition and praise for it. Goes to show that they can let individuals shine through their group songs.... Who said they can't. 

 

"no charisma" no outwardly charisma like CL? Yeah. But not everyone can or needs to be like CL onstage. Minzy has her own charisma when she performs and people do know that. When they say things like that, I feel like they're just comparing her type of charisma to CL's, whose charisma is very very obvious. But they're two different people with charms of their own. Minzy's not getting recognised as the next most charismatic performer after CL in 2NE1 by people and netizens, knetz and inetz, for no reason. She does have charisma. It's whether or not people see it and see it as its own thing instead of comparing it.

Yes i aware of her nose, and i think she only do the nose filler like other korean artists

To do a nose surgery takes time..about 1-2 week atleast.

 

 

 

 

 

Yups same thoughts. I think it's just nose fillers too. I do kind of miss her old nose though, but I can't deny that the change is making her other features stand out even more.

YESSSSSSSSSSS. Minzy's facial expressions during live performances get me every time. You can tell that she's into it and that she loves what she's doing. And I love when she sings along in the background during parts that aren't hers.

 

And I know what you mean about seeing Minzy live, I went to the New Evolution concert in LA and I was fangirling super hard over her, especially during her solo stage. I turned to my cousin and was all, "SHE. IS. AMAZINGGGG." And I took crappy fancams during some songs and during her 'call me M-i-n-z-y' part in Try To Follow Me you can hear me screaming "M I N Z Y!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" lol

Agree with this. 2NE1 is one of the most under worked idol groups and are known for their lack of appearances, and for her to be the least active member solo-wise only makes things worse. She literally has no chance to show herself outside of 2NE1, and in 2NE1 she's competing against three other people for peoples attention. (yes there's MinzyTV but she hasn't done that in awhile)

 

I have this theory that YG has been going by age...Bom got to do her thing first with her solos, Dara did all her Etude stuff, then CL got her photoshoots and solo, so I'm hoping and praying to God that Minzy is next. There literally is no excuse to hold her back at this point. She's not a minor anymore. She's got plenty of talent. She has passion. Sure she's the least popular but instead of ignoring her, why not try to build her fanbase? Even if YG doesn't trust her to succeed alone, he could AT LEAST do a subunit with her or have someone popular feature on a song with her (like GD). Come on YG, I'm desperate to get something from my baby, it's long overdue

 

Late reply, but mm, agree with your whole post. 2NE1 is indeed one of the most underworked idol groups. You always hear about other idol groups getting overworked like crazy, getting only 1-4 hours of sleep everyday, but for the girls, that probably only occurs during their promotion periods (?), which isn't very usual and has long gaps of hiatuses. They do work hard during their promotion periods and when preparing for their comebacks, but overall, just not as overworked as other groups. Heck even Big Bang was overworked during their early days, and even now, gets more work than our girls do, and they're already a well established group. I feel like YG doesn't know what to do with the girls, what more Minzy (?). It seems like his curse of not knowing how to handle girl groups is coming back again. 2NE1's success at the start of their career was good luck and timing I think. As the years go by, you can see how he/the company fumbles when it comes to properly handling them and planning for their future. He and his team really needs to get their shit together with regards to 2NE1.

I miss her dancing too u.u It sucks that dance isn't well appreciated in Korea, if not I think we'd be able to see more dance competitions and whatnot from idols/dancers, like how Immortal Song is for singing. Please let there be more suitable or breakout dancing for her in the next song!

Honestly, I don't care if she would feature with some random nugu, I just want her to get a feature/collab.   But I mean if I had to choose some, I would love to see her do a collab with pretty much anyone from BB, and I really wanna hear what a BomZy duet would sound like. Outside of YG, I wanna hear her do something with Sera of 9M, i feel like their voices would sound like heaven together. Idk, I'm really bad at imagining how collabs would go. ><

But nose fillers still have a risk on long term damage from repeated scaring of tissues, loss of blood circulation to the skin and all. And I believe she had it a few time already. It's minimum her second time.

 

That's why I hate it that she did it : she is super young, if she does that for the next 5 to 10 years she could do serious damage. And now that she's started, I doubt she'll stop.

 

 

Any kind of alterations to your body will have a long-term damage to your body/skin, even including the application of make-up. I don't know much about the risks of nose fillers, but if it is really dangerous and she's aware of it, and she doesn't want it to happen to her body, then she'll know when to stop. But at the end of the day, it's her own body, and us fans who don't even know her personally don't have a say in the matter tbh.

 

Anyway, after being called ugly and fat, even straight to her face, for the past 4 (heck probably even more) years, and growing up in a society like Korea's, I would understand if she felt bloody damn insecure about her own looks and if she even ever degraded herself badly because of it.  After god knows how long of being insulted non-stop for your looks and also not being recognised for your talents just because of your looks which is not up-to-par Korean standard, I do understand why she did it.  Granted, there are other ways she could have done to overcome that particular insecurity, but really, I'm just a fan, as others are. We're people who don't know her, so I don't want to preach anything to her except to give her my love and support as a fan.

 

 

And I gotta say the flack she's receiving internationally for this matter is starting to spill over the top tbh. And that was a very shitty PR move by YG by the way. Even if they retracted the article/statement (it got deleted off Korean news portals), it's just too late cause other news echo-chambers are repeating it everywhere else. So pissed off at the reps.

 

 

Yeh, she could be wearing a trash bag and a hair net and she would still look beautiful.

Yeah the stuff that international fans are saying is way too dramatic but that thing that makes me mad/sad is how they say Minzy looks completely(with added emphasis) different....to me I can tell Minzy is Minzy, that just says to me that they don't really pay attention to her(which I already knew but dang)

 

And then the ones who feel like she's be 'self-centered'(wth) and are so disappointed(I hate this word) in her. I wish they'd get off their high horses. Like having a opinion about missing her old nose or not liking her new nose is fine but when they start going on about it as if what she got done makes her less of a person or something.

 

Anyway, I have a feeling(more of a hope) that she has something in the works.

She technically already had a solo recorded in 2011, when it was supposed to be released after Lonely haha. Wonder if it's the same one or another one? I'm not outrightly spazzing till some teaser or official announcement about it comes out :P But if they mentioned it.... that means it's probably going to come out soon. Probably going to be included in the album? Whenever that drops?

There wasn't an official announcement, but you know how the other day, Melon released that 'Coming Soon' thing on their site for 2NE1's upcoming new single? On 7 June 2011, Monkey3, one of the Korea online music sites, did the same thing, listing a Minzy Digital Single under their 'Upcoming Digital Singles' list

 

 

Under Minzy's section in the screencap there, it says:

Artist: Gong Minzy

Album Type: Digital Single

Release Date: 9 June 2011

 

Monkey3 also did the same thing for Please Don't Go before it got released so it was highly possible that this was really true. But Daesung's accident occurred on May 31, and there was a lot of chaos happening back then in YG (I still remember hurting so much when that happened >.<), so I think the plan got scrapped? And afterwards, I Am The Best became the follow up song to Lonely, getting released 6 weeks after Lonely which meant that their plan for a song per 3 weeks kind of got delayed there.

 

 

Aside that, if you remember, on June 2nd, Shaun Evaristo instagrammed out a pic of him and Minzy and also with the YG dancers. I originally thought he choreographed I Am The Best, since that was the next song that was released, but according to the girls, it was Jaewook (YG's resident choreographer) who choreographed IATB, so.... idk, that prob meant Shaun was in YG to choreograph/work on something else? Before he went to Korea, on May 24th, Shaun also actually tweeted asking fans to guess who he was working with in YG, and while he did tweet out obvious hints that it had something to do with 2NE1, I did distinctively remember him replying "are you sure?" to a fan who guessed 2NE1. And then, when he was leaving Korea, he tweeted out something like "If you need anyone to talk to, you can always talk to me" to Minzy. So..... idk, this is just my interpretation, but adding all this up together with that Monkey3's 'Upcoming Digital Single' release, I think there was a Minzy solo that was in store back then, but seems like it got scrapped. 

 

So yeap. Lol, I actually went back to confirm all the dates so that the chronological order of happenings will help make it clearer to understand haha. Hope you did (:

Double Park Announces 2NE1 World Tour and Shows Teaser for New Song
 
As announced, 2NE1’s Sandara Park and Park Bom came as Double Park to announced 2NE1’s upcoming comeback. 
 
On November 18, Double Park held its urgent press conference, where Sandara Park and Park Bom announced 2NE1’s upcoming global tour in March of 2014. The members will visit Seoul, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and China. 
 

2NE1 will also be releasing its new song, I Miss You on November 21 at midnight. 

Making the announcements a lot more entertaining, Minzy and CL acted as reporters to ask questions. Reporter Minzy asked when 2NE1 Minzy’s solo song will be released, as it was recorded in 2011. Park Bom replied, “We’re all thinking positively about Minzy’s solo,†before moving along. 

Reporter CL asked when 2NE1’s next album will be released. Park Bom replied, “No one knows, not even the daughter-in-law (a Korean saying to imply that no one knows)."

Sandara Park gave a short preview of 2NE1’s I Miss You instead.
