Official Final Fantasy Thread

Do you know which one would be best to buy the game on Xbox Live/PSN or Steam? Which one would you actually get it on for graphic wise as I know Square Enix are never going to make a remaster HD version. :(

it's not on xbox. Psn is the original psx version so there's nothing wrong with that version. The Steam version basically is an HD remaster. It looks much better than the original. So go with that if you want it to look pretty.

lol i don't think any turned based game is about the strategy or difficulty, especially FF. Sure some jrpgs can be hard and challenging but that's not really the reason people play them. The battle system is just there for fun but rpgs are about stories, character, world, etc. lol at knowing the enemies movesets, like that matters at all in a FF or any turnbased rpg. It only matters in real time action rpgs. 

 

Kinda have to agree about FF putting presentation high on it's list of priorities though. They're the biggest jrpg company and presentation is what they're best at and what they're known for. Everybody's opinions on 13 aside, the game looked good.

FF has been getting steadily easier each time.

FF13 and 12 were fucking easy.

I liked playing FF because of the scenario and the stories. But even that kept getting worse.

8 and 7 >>>>>

But 7 is the easiest FF. You can literally hold circle and win every random encounter and spam Enemy Skills for every boss. No thought or strategy required. This is not including super endgame bosses, only playing through the game normally but yea.

Speaking of FF7, I have the Vita port and I can't access Disc 2. According to Gamefaqs, I just have to touch the touchscreen for a bit but nothing's happening. Any ideas how I can open Disc 2?

I don't have a vita but i assume since it's the psone classic version it'll be the same as on the psp. On the psp i just push the Home button and it'll bring up a menu that i can switch discs with (along with other things).

 

It could be different on Vita tho idk. If people say it's the touchscreen then maybe you should try holding it a little longer. Or maybe the backtouch pad idk.

i just read that it used to be touching the screen but was changed to holding down the PS button. Try it.

So how are you liking the game so far?

I never thought you would be able to control anyone other than Notis. It just seemed like that kind of game.

I mean I got used to it in KH, but even then I still would've liked playing as Goofy, Donald and the world-exclusive party members. 

 

I also would have liked to see some character combinations that don't involve Noctis. I was expecting the battle mechanics of this game to be a vastly improved version of TMNT: Out of the Shadows, so I am disappointed that character switching was removed. 

 

I'm more disappointed I won't be playing as Stella/Luna though. She's so pretty. 

Even if you could switch, i don't know if i would do it. Like when i play Tales game, i stick with the main character and not switch to the others. That's just me though.

As far as story is concerned, I'm enjoying it. I like how the character development was done in this game compared to X and in terms of difficulty, I'm breezing through. Controls are a little clunky and the camera in the World Map sucks but those are just minor issues.

I admit i bash on the game sometimes but i don't exaggerate when i say it's the easiest rpg i've ever played. 

 

Yea it is clunky. Sometimes i had trouble going to the next area or going up small steps cus i wasn't in the exact spot to do it.

I was never as hyped as everybody else about FF15 cus action rpgs tend to bore me, but this article makes me even less excited.

people hated 13 because it was final fantasy. If it was a rpg not named FF, it would have gotten so much less hate. And then i also think that it was hated on because it wasn't Versus 13 or FF15 now. People were excited for it but it still hasn't come out yet, so i think they hate on 13 more because of that too.

Lately, i've been thinking of a Square Enix version of Super Smash Bros. with not only FF characters but other representatives from both Square and Enix IPs. You guys think it could work (if it happened) and who would you like to see in the roster?

Looks gorgeous, music sounds lovely, nice attention to detail.

well there are already Ehrgeiz and the 2 Dissidia games for fighting games with FF characters. So it's possible though probably unlikely.
