Official Final Fantasy Thread

So I have to log onto the same PSN account that was used on the other PS3? Because I tried this and a message popped up saying I couldn't log in using another user's id. Whatever that means. 

 

Edit: Oh wait my console id (not the PSN one but the one you log into when the console boots up) isn't the same as the one on my other PS3. Woops. 

but it should be the psn id and not the user id. The user id you sign in with shouldn't matter if the save is tied to the psn id if what those comments say are true. Maybe that person was signed in when you tried to sign in, so it gave you that error?

I was home alone today when I tried this though. 

so i guess you can't have another psn account attached to the same user account. Just make another user real quick on your ps3 and then on that user sign in with the old psn account.

haha yea i don't remember the plot for 12 very much. I remember when my friend was making a special FF video for his let's play channel he was trying to do kind of a summery for all the numbered games and i was helping him, we were both blanking on 12 despite both of us beating it.

lol exactly. I actually do like the story in 12. The political war story was interesting to play through in an FF game but i can only remember bits of it.

the main villain in 13 was society....deep i know haha. Seriously though, i enjoyed the sci-fi story in 13 also. The basics of the story was good i thought. A group of people that society fears and hates are the ones that need to save the world. It's not a bad story at all but they could have told it better. 

 

ooooh i was actually going to put up my final party in each FF game i beat to start a convo but i forgot about it.

 

For 12 i think i had Vaan, Balthier, then either Basch or Ashe. Probably was Ashe. I have this ocd need to have the main character the leader of the party even if i can change it or i don't like them (for playing through the story at least), so that's why i had Vaan in there instead of both Basch and Ashe.

12's main problem is that it doesn't really matter what character you use since everybody pretty much learns everything. With a few exceptions since i think only a few can learn to use Great Swords like the Save The Queens sword and Excalibur. At least i think so. Been a long time. 

 

I normally have Balthier and Fran interchangeable as the range/mage guys. Same for Basch and Ashe as melee people.

Yeah, I thought at it's core the story was interesting. They were pretty much forced to lay ruin to the metropolis they were trying to save. Thing is the story went nowhere at all. The characters barely devoloped and you never felt you got to know them. They basically kept repeating the same dialogue throughout the entire game. Same thing with FFXII. They always talked about were they would go next and that they had to obtain some new power that always turned out to be something false or useless.

 

Not to mention the games enviroments and enemies are so over-designed. Everything is so sharp and metallic (in FFXIII). I don't hate the game (the only FF game I flat out hate is FFX-2), I had fun playing the post-game content with the hunts and stuff. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

i think they did try to develop the characters because there were all those flashbacks to attempt it. It's just that most of the characters weren't likable so they either didn't pull the development off or i didn't care about that character enough to care.

 

some of those hunts were really hard to get 5-stars for. 

 

I never beat X so i never played X-2. But eventhough i hear a lot of hate for it, i also hear that the battle system is pretty good. And sometimes that's enough (see Tales games)

Thoughts on Final Fantasy XIII? Do you think is it that terribad and a dishonour as other many FF fans claim?

i really enjoyed it. It just depends on what you want out of an rpg i think. To a lot of people they want to explore so the linearity is a big negative to them. But i didn't care so much for that and think that once you get passed the linearity it can be a fun game with a nice battle system.

 

Not a terrible game in any way either but it does has it's problems as most games do. Internet peoples need to learn how to separate not liking something and something being bad. I didn't like 9 that much, but it wasn't a bad game at all for example.

Dissidia Duodecim is making me hate Vaan. 

 

So. Annoying. Argh. 

Firion kicks all ass in Dissidia. Tidus is pretty good too. I thought Cloud and Squall were both pretty weak and i hated using them.

i put over a hundred hours into the first Dissidia. I played a little bit of the sequel but it was pretty much the same thing so i didn't play it much.

I'm struggling to get interested in the final battle of Dissidia (cycle 13). Ugh. I'm only up to the Onion Knight's chapter but I already want to stop lol. 

 

But I'll persevere. Somehow. 

the most fun is unlocking everything and leveling up and not actually beating the game, at least for me.

 

not to mention that Chaos was a bitch to fight and i never beat him.

i said the same thing about 13-2 and i still haven't gotten it yet 

 

an rpg podcast i listened to said they were pleasantly surprised with Lightning Returns. They said it was pretty fun to play at E3. They said the battle system is like a mix of 13's and Crisis Core's, which is exactly what i thought when i watched the gameplay videos.

that's why i don't do side quests unless it's not too out of the way or its right before i beat the game or postgame. Which is probably a big reason why i didn't mind the linearity of 13 or the lack of extra things to do. I'd rather play through a game at a normal pace and not over-level doing side quests.

I heard Tales of the Abyss is one of the better Tales games. Never played it myself but want to. ps2 or 3ds?

 

12's side quests suck so that doesn't help either. They're all generic fetch quests or go kill X amount of X monster. The only thing i cared about was coming back to beat that t-rex in the middle of the field that kicks your ass if you try to fight it at the beginning of the game.

yea i prefer to play stuff on portables if i can even if i'm just in my room. 

 

Plus my ps3's fan has been on overdrive and is really loud lately because of 100+ degree weather here. I'm scared to turn it on for too long eventhough i just borrowed Tomb Raider from a friend.

that's about the normal price for it here right now. A little cheaper on amazon at $35-40. 

 

Man if i lived in Australia i'd probably just get ps+ and play only those free games if everything is that expensive. Which is probably going to be my plan whenever i get a ps4 years from now, only buy rpgs and ps+ for everything else.

Ugh yes. It was on the news around the same time the whole gun control debates emerged (soon after that school shooting). 

 

I mean you could have printed a myriad of awesome quirky things like the FFVII cast, but instead choose to print a freaking gun? 

 

No creativity whatsoever. Lol.

Celes is the best female FF character ever. and possible best female character in any rpg ever just because i can't think of any cool non FF one right now.

 

The first Parasite Eve was kind of rpg-ish. So Aya Brea gets put up there too then.

no idea. looks like it's supposed to be a brassknuckles type of thing except obviously too big. I don't even know which 13's character's weapon that is.

not really. I've listened to some on youtube but i don't actually have any of them downloaded and listen to regularly. I listen to Falcom game's OST though, they're awesome. Rock with electric violin, don't get any cooler than that.
