yea KH3 trailer didn't show much but it was enough for the fanboys to go crazy about.

and was Versus supposed to originally be open world? the new 15 video doesn't look like that and makes it look like more of a faster paced Lightning Returns.

yea not really interested in KH or 15 because i don't like action rpgs that much and 15 doesn't even look like an rpg.

lol I actually really enjoyed XIII but haven't played XIII-2 yet. Lightning Returns doesn't look that bad, it actually looks really different which can be good or bad. Like i said before, it does look like an action rpg, somewhat similar to the new 15 trailer we saw.

Leave it to rpg fans though to demand something new and different and then bash everything that's different. RPG fans are really the worst gaming fanbase there is. Note i'm talking in general not at anyone in this thread or this site. I don't want anybody to get mad at for thinking i'm talking about them.

We shouldn't jump to baseless conlusions based off a mere 3 minute trailer. Nomura has stated previously that the game having an "open world" format would not be compromised since fans (himself included) are fond of that feature. *shrugs* We'll see. FF hasn't exactly been up to par lately imo.

More information on the upcoming title will be revealed tomorrow apparently during a private "Future of Final Fantasy" question & answer showcasing. I just so happen to adore action rpgs more so than traditonal ones since they keep me on my toes at all times. But hey, different strokes I guess.

I still wish a new FF title was announced instead. Maybe next year. :._.:

you mean like how everybody jumped to conclusions about Versus from a little trailer from the start years ago  Seriously everybody go all excited and have been begging for this game ever since then while barely knowing anything or seeing very little about it.

This. Although if it's no where near finished, then don't show us.

I take it they've already made a new engine for the PS4? I'm not really knowledgeable on these things. I wonder how long it will take them to make a new game

Agnes Philosophys was a tech demo for their newest engine. That's what a tech demo is, it's to show off the capabilities of the engine. It's supposedly able to shorten game development time by ~20% if i remember their comment correctly.

Here's part of an interview with Nomura about 15:

What led to the decision for the name change from Final Fantasy Versus XIII? And what gives it the feel of being one of the numbered titles in the Final Fantasy universe?

Within the company, about to one to two years after Versus XIII was announced, we had a discussion about—because of the scale of the game—if it would be appropriate to make it XV. So we had this discussion for several years, and about two years ago, when we started hearing about next-generation consoles, we officially confirmed to make it XV. And about a year ago, we decided that all the development would shift to next-generation consoles.

Is it more of an action RPG or traditional RPG?

Yes, it is an action-based RPG. There’s not much turn-based style in it, but if you look carefully in the trailer, the command system is on the screen, as well, so we tried to keep a Final Fantasy taste. But we are not trying to make it an action-only game. Making the game Final Fantasy is the most important thing. I want everyone to imagine if Final Fantasy would be an action game—this is what it would be.

Noctis already has a huge following…

To be honest, Noct is not cool inside. His appearance might tell you he is cool, but he is not very cool. He is a very quirky guy, so in the end being ‘not so cool’ is one of his characteristics.

Does the game focus mainly on Noctis, or on the other characters in the party, as well?

In Final Fantasy games, party is necessary, I think. So how we use party members is a core part of Final Fantasy games. How to take turns and how to act is very important. Noct can battle himself, but in the trailer, you can tell he did battle with other characters, as well. So I think there will be a lot of co-operation within the team, but in a different form from previous Final Fantasy games. In the trailer, you probably saw that three players were co-operating with each other to fight with that giant, so there was some drama in it. I don’t want to make it into a systematic team play, but that it has some story to it. We are always aware that party battle is necessary in the Final Fantasy series.

In the trailer, it seems he’s able to defy gravity. Is that an ability we’ll be able to activate in the game?

Actually, he wasn’t defying gravity. He has the ability to teleport himself into the sky. I think that if we tried to make the game very realistic, it would become impossible to enjoy as a game. For example, if you try to float an enemy in the air and try to battle with tumble attacks and he falls at regular speed, it would become kind of strange. So we’re always trying to figure out the balance between realism and fantasy.

Can you discuss the platforms?

Up until about a year ago, we were making Final Fantasy XV for current generation consoles and keeping that in mind, as well. But as you’ve seen in the trailer, next-generation consoles have really good quality that make it possible to create the game in really good high quality. And I think the quality will increase even more in the development process.

The way we’re developing the game has changed and is very different. Before when we said multiplatform games, we developed a game to fit to one console’s specifications and evened it out to the rest. But now, we make the game in a different way. And I always had in mind that I didn’t want to make a game that compromised the quality.

This time, we are using a different method of development. We are not looking at the consumer consoles to meet their specifications. We are making the higher quality game for next-gen consoles, but use a tool called DirectX 11 to make it. Then, whichever consoles are able to handle that tool can be used to port the game to it. So we just care about the specifications of each hardware and hope that they will maintain the original high quality of the game we are making when it’s ported to the console.

Again, it’s not like we have to care about the difference in each hardware, but it’s just about whether the console can handle its high quality. So that’s the only part we will have to be aware of.

(Note: He appears to be saying that they make they game in DirectX 11 on PC and port the game to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One since they’re able to handle it. And that they can consider any hardware that supports DirectX 11 functionality.)

yea i got a little disoriented watching the gameplay video. I dislike the camera in games like DMC and Ninja Gaiden and this looks similar.

Don't know about your guy's region, but if you download the FF14 trailer off psn you automatically enter for a chance to win a beta key.

Isn't it like anime-ish vocaloid music? I don't really know, I just know some of the jpop fans on this site love it

I need to get that FF rhythm game still.. -_-

oh i know Hatsune Miku is a vocaloid. But the actual game itself might still be fun. And no i don't think there's a lot of vocaloid fans on here  .

We have posted in the japanese section about how we dislike what non jpop listeners think of when they think of jpop. They usually think of idols and VK. Vocaloids and all things otaku probably is right up there too.

oh and i'm currently watching this:

Oh my goodness, you have no idea how much enjoyment I get from watching the idol vs artists arguments on the jpop side. It's so interesting.

Takuuuu noooo. It's not on android  I'm gonna get it for my 3DS though, soon..

haha yes it's a lot of fun to read through. I tried kind of taking the middle side once, but it doesn't really do anything because neither side is gonna give in. Last week had like 4 or 5 AKB threads and all had arguments  :har:

The stuff we post is true though, non jpop listeners have a negative view of jpop because they only know about idols and don't bother to look into the other stuff.

_

gahhh i want a 3ds. I wish i can just straight up trade my 360 for one.

I know, I always lurk the jpop side here and back on h8 and I've realised people can be quite stubborn. They even go as far as blaming kpop  :wut:

anyway I agree with that negative view of jpop because of idols, I do enjoy music from both, but more from artists.

--

How much would your xbox 360 get you if you traded it in?

idk not a lot probably. I'm assuming $60-70 but that's just a wild guess really.

The jpop side still seems a lot more chill/mature than the kpop side though. Kpop side has a lot of immature hypocritical people insulting and bashing each other's biases. Though stubborn, some of those artist v idol arguments had a lot of long thought out debates.

gasp...must get off and watch Master Chef

 like thas all?

no point of me buying it, ours works just fine

except for the fact that the colour is distorted in our tv  :har:

:unimpressed: now im having doubts if I should buy it

idk what you were expecting. It's just an HD rerelease. It's going to be the same game but looking a bit better. It is going to be the international version of the game, which means all the extra stuff that the western version didn't get will be in there. Like the dark aeons and whatever else there are.

Outside of that yea it's just the same game. If you're fine playing the ps2 version then it's not worth buying for you.

a lot of people like 8. It's just that a lot of people hate it also. I couldn't get into it, i quit playing after the first hr or so. I should give it another chance i know. It's my friends favorite FF, so you're not alone.

I played the game until Quistis and Squall are supposed to go get something in this fire place or whatever. I left it for too long, and when I got back to playing it, I didn't know what I was doing or what I was supposed to do lol.

And I still need to finish XIII lol XD

that happens to me a lot. I've replayed the first couple hours of Seiken Densetsu 3 maybe 4 times because of that. Same with Wild Arms 1.

Finish 13! Just pretend it's a tales game, fun battle system and meh everything else. Except 13 has good music and Graces F does not.

I absolutely adore the music in 13. The bgm in the sunlit waterscape or whatever it was called where you played with Vanille and Sazh partnered was amazing. Plus I love looking at some of the landscapes, because they're done beautifully.

The thing is my current XIII save is on another PS3, and since I can't transfer saves over to different PS3's ( :>_>: ) I'd have to start the game all over again. And I ain't got time fo' dat.

so 13's saves are locked? That's weird. That usually only happens for games with online multiplayer.

Fantastic!

Serah's theme i think has the same melody too but more of a ballad.

Blinded By Light was a good battle theme also, but i don't want to post too much videos.

Well you can play the transferred save file, but you can't save the game at any point afterwards.

It sucks donkey balls.

I miss the days of the memory card.

maybe this would help: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/928790-final-fantasy-xiii/54582108

read the op and also the second last post on the page.

so i think all you have to do is use your new psn name to log onto the ps3 with your original save file. Sync (and maybe resave the file idk if this is necessary). and then copy the save on your current ps3 while logged in with your psn. Maybe resync on this ps3 too for the trophies.

YOU. ARE. A LIFESAVER.

:ahmagah:

does that mean you tried it and it works?

if you haven't tried it yet i also saw on a FF13 board where someone confirmed it: "I have confirmed it does work I just copied my saves and logged into the same psn id and It let me save so as long as you keep the same psn id you should be fine."

so either log on your current ps3 using the original psn name.

Or do what i said earlier and resave while logged in with the new psn name. This way "might" let you resync your trophies and let you continue getting trophies on your new name, if you care about that stuff.

Do save files say the "owner" if you look at the info/details? Whatever, you can figure it out if you haven't already.

:omgwtf:

i'm sorry if i prefer a fun and engaging battle system where i have to pay attention over 7's battle system where i held O for every random encounter to make everybody mindlessly attack. Here's my strategy for every boss fight in 7: enemy skill, enemy skill, enemy skill, and heal when necessary.

7 = easiest rpg i've ever played. not counting superbosses with a specific strategy needed to win.

also Lightning > Cloud

XIII wasn't so different for me, all you have to do is change paradigms. Let the others do all the work. Once you get to chapter 11 and do those quest things, you can get a crap ton of money and max out your weapons. The rest of the game is a breeze

Hope has to be the most annoying FF character ever

i agree that it's not that complicated, once you get the hang of it it's pretty simple. But that's still a lot more complex than holding a button. You never have to worry about money in 7, so holding O and making everybody attack is viable because you can stock up on 99 potions and hi-potions to just heal afterwards.

The game is somewhat easy, but hard for an FF game. There are some tough parts in 13. Where 7 is a breeze the entire game.

I agree Hope is annoying. I don't understand how people like him and hate Snow.

You can stock up in potions in most FF games. Plus you don't even need them in XIII, all you need is a healer in your party.

Sazh is probably the only likeable character, but really he's only there as the token black guy.

i know that but i never felt any danger in 7.

Yea i don't know if very many of 13's characters are likable but I liked how they showed their backstory and tried to develop them. I did like Lightning and Fang though. My favorite character in 7 was Yuffie  :)

i can understand not finishing 12. I really liked it but damn it's so long. Easily the longest FF. I don't really like doing that much extra stuff so for 12 i pretty much just played through the game and only did enough marks (missions) to be the Bubble spell (double your HP), and that took me 70-80 hours. I didn't mind the gameplay. I just wish Ashe or Bache was the main character instead since the story revolved around them.
