Do you have any friends who you meet only on special occasions?

I was wondering if people have any friends, who don't ever speak to you on the phone and very rarely texts you but always want to meet up whenever its someone's birthday or Christmas?

Its always a little awkward whenever we meet up, because its like you're speaking to strangers...

I have had thoughts about whether I should decline meeting up with them, but we've been friends for quite a long time, but I never really felt close to them at all, if that makes sense. We don't have deep conversations about anything, ever. Also, they're really picky when it comes to choosing where to go, so its really difficult for me.

I'm not sure what to do.

I have a childhood friend that I've known since I was four. We went to different schools, even college. The last time I saw her was last Christmas, and we talked as if we've been hanging out in the same area. We don't feel awkward with each other because she's very sociable and can make people feel comfortable around her. I'm also friends with her brother, but whenever we see each other we usually talk about school.

Yes, it does depend on the person and their personality. I'm exactly sure on what you should do, but if it's not working out as it used to then sometimes you need to cut ties with them. I'm sorry, I don't know what to say.    :._.:  Maybe try starting asking questions and then go from there.

Most of my friends I only see on special occasions because we don't live by each other or go to the same school anymore, so we usually meet up for Christmas or Thanksgiving~

Your situation seems like one I have sometimes; I kinda have friend who always says she wants to do something, but never wants to get up and do it when I'm around~

For you, though, it seems like you may not be very close with them anyway~ So I mean, maybe you should just tell them you don't wanna go or if you want to try to get closer to them, it would be a good chance~

I'm not exactly sure, but if they wanted to meet up with me, I suppose they do care. Maybe I was just thinking whether I should bring this up at some point, but I just feel quite awkward. We could be much more closer, and I have tried but when things settle then we don't contact each other for ages. I guess I want to be like close friends with them since we always seem to meet up for special occasions. Thanks for the advice anyway.

I have kind of tried to become close to them in the past, but we never really seem to get as close...I have known them since school days, but I don't know anymore.

I have a friend that lives in New York and we only get to text each other once every few weeks? We only meet about 1-2 times a year as well.

But last time I visited her, we talked like I would to all my other close friends back at school. We're still really close now.
