The difference between confidence and arrogance

They say there is a thin line between confidence and arrogance. What separates these two concepts? What makes someone confident but not arrogant?

Discuss.

Many people here think I'm arrogant but I'm not, I'm just confident

A little self-love is not a bad thing you know

Basically, confidence is belief in one's ability. Whereas arrogance is related with overbearing superior attitude. e.g Confidence is like "I can do this" whereas arrogance is like "Only I can do this"  or something like that.

Isnt it simple? Confident people are self-assured, and arrogant people suffer from a feeling of self-importance.

Only people who lack confidence themselves confuse the two and label those who are confident as arrogant.

keep your confidence to yourself i think is a good idea. people dont like to be reminded that they feel bad about themselves ._.

well I'm sorry I feel good about myself. You're right, I should hide it. People who don't have confidence might feel bad

tbh this reminds me of these bitter people who don't want others to be happy because THEY are sad...

-_-

not that you should but that people sometimes interpret it that way. you should carry on anyway, only if you are looking for reasons, that is a possible (if unfortunate) one

bitter people suck but are common :(

it's how they react to criticism

it's a very thin line between those two, but what i've observed is that

confident people - listens to you initially; and if he/she finds your advice/opinion to hold weight, he/she will continue to ask for opinions. But if you've been giving irrelevant points he/she will eventually brush you off. lol

arrogant people - does not accept external input initially, but if you've proven to be very capable; he/she will slowly warm up to you. Basically, you must first earn his respect if you want he/she to listen.

TLDR;

confident - assumes everyone to be worth their time before filtering the unworthy ones out

arrogant - assumes everyone to be unreliable until proven otherwise

smh at the people who said it's the same

posting my opinion too:

Confidence for me is a positive trait whereas arrogance is negative. Confident people feel good about themselves but they don't show off. On the contrary, arrogant people want others to know they feel good about themselves and try to bring others down, wanting to prove their superiority. Arrogance can be annoying, confidence cannot.

People who confuse these two should reflect a bit and definitely refrain from calling confident people arrogant since it is quite insulting.

I haven't read through everyone else's responses but for me its:

Confidence: being happy with what you look like, your ability at something, knowing your good at something or look good etc

Arrogance: thinking that everyone else thinks your the best at something, look the best etc

Its ok to be confident in yourself obviously and you should be confident in your looks and abilities etc, but when you start to think that you're the best and that everyone else thinks it too thats arrogance to me, thinking you're gods gift to the world.
