how come photocards are >expensive than albums?

when I was searching around to see how much it would cost if I wanted to buy a photocard, usually it was ~$10 and the people selling would often say something like "photocard X is $11, +album is $8".

Wouldnt it make more sense for the album to be more expensive??? Like, the album would have the cd and photobook right..? I feel like I'm missing something. Are photocards only included in albums when they're first printed? A photocard is just a piece of cardstock, so how come people sell it for nearly as much money as the album would've cost itself? :derp:

i have so many questions marks in that last paragraph soz

it's expensive on a certain member. there's no guarantee of which member photo card you will get when you purchase an album. for a group with large number like exo or snsd, your chance of getting a photo card of your bias is even less. you can purchased 10 albums and still didn't get your choice of PC.

fans collect photo cards,  that's why is more expensive.

Usually large to mid sized companies reprint their photocards, it's the small companies you have to worry about. Sometimes small companies even stop reprinting certain albums. Photocards are more collectible and harder to find than albums because there is no guarantee that you will get your bias. Some people feel like it's easier to bid on a card or buy one rather than buying multiple CDs to find their bias's PC. Also, it depends on the member you want. There are steep price differences between the more popular and least popular members. If you think Korean PCs are expensive, Japanese ones are much more so starting at about $20+

I think it's because you can get the same album every time you order it but the photocard is randomized so it's difficult to get your bias. You can buy 3 or 5 or 10 albums and still not get your bias photocard.

Also most photocards are wallet-sized so you can keep it in your wallet.

I'm not very lucky in the photocard department. I've only gotten my bias once and I've bought around 15 kpop albums so far (from different groups).
