Yewon was a total bitch, but I feel kind of bad to see her witch haunted like that when there are worse idol scandals going on like Kim Hyun Joong's for example. But I guess people find cat fights more interesting.

How was she a bitch? Lim Tae Im and her weren't jelling, the animosity was two ways, and Yewon didn't kowtow to her. She 'lied' about the situation coming out of nowhere but being a bit snappy to someone swearing at you does not make one a bitch.

Edit: If what she did could be called a lie.

Edit2: Reviewing old article translations, Yewon did apparently lie about not speaking informally.

Here's the video. The only point of contention is that Yewon lied but if you watch the video it really will seem like it 'came out of nowhere'. (Pardon my paraphrasing what Yewon and PR team said when they were asked about the situation.)

Edit: Her using informal speech, which caused LTI to start cursing and pointing which caused Yewon to glare, seemed like an unintentional, non-malicious mistake.

It was more about the fact that Yewon acted disrespectful to an already pissed off Lee Tae Im (see the link Krys posted), which cause the latter to swear. At first, only Lee Tae Im's swearing part was revealed to the public and it almost killed her carrier (heard she was about to be kicked out from a drama). Even worse, Yewon took advantage of people pity partying her and acting all angelic saying she forgives Lee Tae Im and shitz, when she was being rude and cattily provoking the other.

They were both at fault for being bitchy and overdramatic (Like, was it that hard for Yewon to speak formally to a senior, especially after she was called out for not doing so? Or Lee Tae Im can't really keep her mouth shut in front of cameras?). This issue should have never seen the light tbh. It caused so much drama for such a petty thing and I kind of feel sorry for Yewon being which haunted like this, when there are worse things worth that can be pointed out in the industry.

Just watched the full video (I've never done before to be honest, just some gifs). Actually Yewon behaved way better than I expected from reading people's reaction. I didn't see Yewon's gestures as being provoking (even if I can see why that 'Unni, you don't like me, right?' not sitting well with Lee Tae Im) and she actually was pretty calm considering Lee Tae Im was cursing her like that for using informal speech once (from what I see she used mostly formal speech)

Also I've always thought that she rolled her eyes before she was cursed at, not after, this changes things a lot.

Such a mess of a situation. I can't believe Yewon's carrier is fucked up over such an overreaction.

She wasn't provoking Lee Tae Im (LTI) intentionally at all. If you watch the video, LTI suddenly going off at her does seem to blindside her. Her informal speech does look like a slip of the tongue. I don't know about Yewon taking advantage of the situation; she didn't bring it up ad nauseam, did she? She didn't swan about talking about the wrong that had been done to her. If anyone is to blame it's Yewon and LTI's PR team; they should have killed it before anyone other than those present knew about it.

I agree that the continued witch hunt when both have apologised and are, at least officially if not actually, now neutral is nonsensical.

They both were at fault in my opinion (sorry for randomly butting in). I get formalities is a big thing in Korean culture, but I've never really understood the reason why I have to be gracious and bow down to seniors who aren't gonna treat with equal respect.

The issue only blew up as big as it did because of the real video being released. Yewon released an apology right after everyone was witch hunting LTI, but as soon as the truth got revealed, it took her forever to say something. Her company and whoever helped in hiding the video are the main players at fault though. It made me sick seeing the actual truth and that they would let LTI's career sink to the bottom had the video not been released. So in that respect, I agree with you that it was the PR team that just fueled the fire even more and took advantage of the favorous situation towards Yewon at the time.

Though, at this point, they both have apologized and I hope they apologized to each other as well and let this whole situation move past them (though it's kinda hard when LTI always ends up being connected on all of her appearances on TV lately). It should have never received this much attention and garnered so much animosity had people unrelated to the incident not got themselves involved in it. It makes me wonder what else we, as readers, don't know though...

Hey, discussions are the more the merrier. Right we'll always have a incomplete truth as outsiders.

Sorry, I didn't see this reply. Happy to help clear up things, I wonder how many k-netz watched the actual video because the way they view events sound like they're also going by heresay and gifs.

A big part was Dispatch's fault for making a untrue investigation report. People felt lied to when the truth was revealed later. It wouldn't been a big deal if she told the truth, or her agency didn't make up the story abt her offering Tae Im a towel or Dispatch didn't make a story of her crying when she was yelled at.

  • 2 weeks later...

lol if you overreact on a simple mistake then it's on you to control your emotions, if the mistake was for example yewon pushed down lti then lti had every right to be pissed off but since it was only a momentary slip of a tongue then the one who overreacted was the one who is at fault.

wait someone said yewon and lti promotion team was at fault for prolonging the drama but then where is lti's responsibility here? sure we can talk about the delays of pr team etc. but in the 1st place this drama wouldnt have started anyway had she kept her cool on a nonsensical, MINOR mistake.
