Political hothead and Russian politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky called for president Vladimir Putin to wipe out Turkish capital Istanbul, killing nine million people.


Turkey's decision to down a SU-24 fighter jet after it entered their aerospace was branded "stupid" by Zhirinovsky.


"A nuclear attack can destroy Istanbul very easily. Just one nuclear bomb in the Istanbul Strait will wash the city away," he told Moscow Speaking Radio.

How do people with such low humanity and compassion manage to hold such power over society, how can someone suggest nuking an entire city full of innocents 

 

 

I don't believe this, everyone is citing this " Moscow radio" without giving a name, and time

 

No credible site made an article about this, except the mirror which quoted a " Moscow radio"

 

Last time a general of a country made a Nuke threat, it went viral, so I don't believe this

 

I went on Google and typed " Putin nuke Istanbul " and didn't find a single credible article or from a news outlet, its all blogs and conspiracy theory sites

Vladimir Zhirinovsky is not a colonel. He did his mandatory military service back in USSR and has never had any relation to the military ever since. He's a senior lieutenant just like any man who has served his duty and has a law degree.

 

He is a politician who is known for his controversial statements (aka clown as it was mentioned above) and he currently works for State Council. Nobody takes him seriously.

Well then his words were greatly taken out of context. Also he hasn't even been in the Military since the ussr which was removed 30 years ago? This changes the whole story. Media are making it sound like he's Putin's top advisor and he told him to nuke turkey over the jet downing
