I personally wouldn't be scared to come out. My mom has made it pretty clear she doesn't care. My mom though is strange. She freaked out when I got dreadlocks but then was pretty cool with me getting a motorcycle of course until everyone started sending her motorcycle death videos. My mother is deceased and I could have never told her. The rest of my family is heavily christian and it scares the hell outta me that my grandma won't accept me anymore, she's the type that thinks church would fix it and she always criticizing gays on TV. I've told younger family members who get it I guess. My brothers and younger cousins know, my friends know, some of my co-workers but that's it. But I think they understand that no it's not just a phase. But recently I've been thinking that my gender doesn't matter and I haven't told them about that like I don't mind being called him or her or pretty or handsome. My dad made a few rude comments, but he didn't react as badly as a lot of parents do. I guess I'm lucky that my parents aren't as conservative as most people where I live are.
