[My] heroic spirit [extends for] tens of thousands of zhang; [my] immortal sword points skyward.
[As] a hero of the land, who can stand shoulder to shoulder [with me]?
Vaguely [i recall that as] a youth, had once been frivolous.
Flowers wilt and separations happen—on the horizon, nurse [my] grievances.
hide [all my] love and hatred inside [my] heart.
The months and years pass and are difficult to cover up.

Heaven and earth and the universe[1]—even then one can turn the tables.
It is hard to bring fairness to the ways of the world. All that remains is a soft sigh.
There was also a time when [i had] a nefarious reputation [that] spread everywhere—
A lonesome sword shadow that let down the beautiful woman [who waited for me].
From time immemorial, [those who are] abundant in tender affections[2] leave behind nothing but hate.
[However, you] don't know that heroes have pains that are difficult to speak of.

Between the flash of blades and the shadows of swords[3],
look arrogantly down upon the ranges of hills and the Five Sacred Mountains[4].
Viewing fame and wealth as mere clouds and mist [that are bound to dissipate without a trace],
conceal [myself] and travel the mundane world.

smile as gaze upon the many changes in the unpredictable, ever-shifting [affairs of the world].
[As] a hero [full of] righteous honor, [my] good reputation is known all over the world.
[Across] the tens of thousands of li for which the Divine Land[5] extends, uphold justice and help others.
The force of truth cannot be blocked.
One cup of wine obliterates past kindnesses and grudges.
Two trails of tears cannot drain all the sorrow.

The righteous honor that fills [me] is vast and mighty [enough to fill] the mortal world.
Slaying evil spirits and exterminating demons, make a clean sweep of the Five Sacred Mountains.
exhale a long sigh—old dreams are hard to fulfill.
[but I] have you to keep me company in the walk to the finish line.

T/N:

[1] æœ‰æž (lit. with ultimate; has boundaries) is a Taoist concept, a state between Wuji/æ— æž (lit. without ultimate; boundless), which is the primordial universe, and Taiji/å¤ªæž (lit. supreme ultimate), the oneness from which arises the duality of yin and yang. I just translated it as the universe since I'm not an expert on Taoism explained in Chinese, much less Taoism in English. Together with "heaven" and "earth", it refers to forces much greater than and beyond the control of a person...and yet you can still turn things around!

[2] 多情 (lit. many feelings/affections; emotional, sensitive) is a very typical descriptor for 侠 (the knight-errant type of character). He would "leave behind hate" because he'd let down the young woman who waits for him.

[3] 刀光剑影 (lit. light of single-edged blade, shadow of double-edged sword) is a metaphor for heated combat.

[4] 五岳 (lit. five high mountains) refers to the five sacred mountains of China, consisting of Mount Tai (æ³°å±±) in the east, Mount Hua (åŽå±±) in the west, Mount Heng (è¡¡å±±) in the south, Mount Heng (æ’å±±) in the north (...yes, pronounced exactly the same as the southern mountain), and Mount Song (嵩山) in the middle.

[5] 神州: the Divine Land is a poetic nickname for China.
