Chrissy Turner found a lump in her chest last month, The Guardian reports. The news came as a shock not only due to her age, but also the fact that both her parents are cancer survivors. Annette Turner suffered from cervical cancer while her husband currently battles a Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma relapse. Chrissy’s secretory carcinoma diagnosis accounts for only 0.15% of breast cancers and is “very treatable,†Chrissy Turner’s doctor Brian Bucher told the paper. The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with medical expenses. Shouldn't it be expected then since cancer runs in her family? It's like saying "OMFG YOU GOT CANCER!!??? THAT'S CRAZY! I WOULD HAVE NEVER EXPECTED THAT SPECIALLY SINCE BOTH YOUR PARENTS HAD IT!!" I'm glad it's a curable form of cancer. It's sad she got it so young but it's good they caught it early. But I also don't get why she's getting a mastectomy if it's "very treatable" Idk whoever wrote this article needs to go do some more research. They keep tripping over their own words. According to breastcancer.ca - "...secretory breast carcinoma is prone to metastasis and local recurrence so must be treated aggressively." So I suppose in order to avoid it returning they're doing a mastectomy. The same page I read that on states that "...most breast cancer experts suggest that secretory carcinoma be treated with simple mastectomy and at least low axillary resection."
