Is anyone else worried about how this group is going to fair talent-wise?

 

What we know:

-The current lineup of the group has 6 members according to YG. Seems like Euna is the only one that's been cut since the Lalice dance video that had 7 members.

-Jennie, Eunbi, Jisoo and Lalice are 4/6

 

So it's very likely that the last 2 are 1 vocalist and 1 main rapper (Jennie isn't good enough to be the only rapper in the group).

 

The vocalist is probably the mystery girl from GD's "Without You", who sounded... okay, I guess.

 

Basically we'd better pray that Jisoo and Lalice can hold their own vocally or else we're going to have Eunbi and "Without You" girl carrying the group, and to be honest, they both sound mediocre.

 

I think most people are worried about the talent level of this group, lol.

 

I can't really complain about the Without You girl because we've only heard her once - and it was only recorded + her voice was rather processed in the song. I thought she did her part in the song well though. As for Eunbi, she's alright as a vocalist as well but based off how YG doesn't seem to be promoting her as much as he is KSY, I don't think she's a major strong point for the group. 

 

As for Jennie, it's definitely clear that she isn't going to be the main rapper of the group. She'll probably go from singing to rapping in the similar way that CL does not rap for 2NE1 all the time. Since we don't know anything about Jisoo's abilities, I'm hoping that she + the other two unrevealed girls aren't questionable performers. I think this group is definitely in need of some clear knock out talents when it comes to singing/rapping, and I'm hoping that we have at least two. Overall, I'm hoping these girls are good performers with room to improve.

 

That being said though, song quality + song choices will definitely matter a lot - so YG better be putting a lot of focus into that. It won't matter much if the group is talented if they have crap songs, and even if a performer isn't the strongest talent, that doesn't mean he/she can't have a good song too and can't become popular. 

 

They don't have to be the most talented group out there, but if they have nice songs and are good performers, then I'll support them.

Also, according to Seungri's latest teaser concerning GG Be, Jennie sings for the bridge of his song and will not be rapping. I'm looking forward to that since I much preferred her singing voice in comparison to her rapping.

No one really knows why Euna was eliminated but I suspect it had to do with her personality/looks. Going by YG's explanations about this group, he's looking for pretty girls (note: pretty by Korean beauty standards) that can rap/sing YG-style music. After seeing Jennie's vids/hearing her features i'm pretty sure YG's not trying to sell this group with talent but an image. It's all about that "pretty girls doing YG music" gimmick. Euna's image/personality isn't very ladylike but rather tomboyish and "shameless". Her performance style doesn't fit YG's description either.

 

^ And by that logic I also except that Lalice has been cut. She's a good dancer and all, but other than that she's got nothing going for her as a group member. She's full Thai, isn't exactly good looking, can't sing and has only been a trainee for a relatively short time (2yrs or something?). Honestly she'd be like the Hyoyeon of this group except she has her nationality working against her.

 

Have you heard her sing though...? o.O As for her length as a trainee, two years is longer than the length Daesung & Seungri spent as trainees (if I remember right) + how long some of the boys on WIN Show have been trainees, I don't really think of training length as a reason for exclusion. I won't deny there's a chance that Lalice has been eliminated though, or is up for the chopping block. Presentation and image matters a lot with girl groups - we're not so sure how good her Korean is, and nationality is a factor too unfortunately.

 

If anything, I'd feel like she's the member that YG's unsure about including.

I can see Lalice in that girl but i'm not convinced. 

 

Now that I look again I can kinda see Jisoo's face in the blonde girl so maybe the one next to Jennie is someone else.

 

I don't think Jisoo is the blonde. She had pictures with Jennie recently, and her hair was dark. Granted, she could've had her hair dyed, but even before there were pictures of a blonde picture walking with Jennie, so I think it's that girl and not Jisoo.

Idk... I can kinda see Jisoo's side profile in that blonde girl but maybe i'm imagining things. We also shouldn't forget that perhaps they're just there as friends and not as "the group" on 'official business'. I can't recognize the girl next to Jennie at all though.

 

Picture isn't that clear, so it's alright to speculate. I'm just assuming that the blonde girl = blonde/blondish trainee who was spotted with Jennie before. 

 

 

Kang Seungyoon, Lee Seunghoon & another YG boy group member were spotted at BB's concert last year, so they're probably just there to watch how things go and all that. I doubt it's for official business. I find it kind of funny they have the J-VIP lightstick though.

Can't judge the Without You girl too much considering we haven't heard that much of her. I like what I've heard of her voice though, and I don't think she sounds like Jennie at all. Her voice sounds a lot more mature than Jennie's does, and based off the way her voice was used in Without You in comparison to Jennie's featurings so far, she's probably lead/main/whatever vocalist material. Eunbi's alright to me - she has a lower voice and that's needed, so yeah.

 

Jennie's been getting better & better with each featuring, so if YG's plans were to improve people's image of her, I think he's done a good job with it. I think it's about time he just let her perform already (that is, if she's ready though). Black is doing really well on the charts and is also well received, it'd be a shame if he doesn't take advantage of that. Also, I'm really hoping Jisoo's a decent singer + performer - imo, it feels like she's already locked in for a position in the group, so I hope she's not disappointing.

 

Lastly, it's been confirmed that GD's going to be participating in Infinity Challenge's music festival again. If YG doesn't make sure that one of these girls have a good feature on the song he'll be making for the show, that'd be such a wasted opportunity to grab attention for these girls + the group - especially if he'll continue that single thing he'd mentioned earlier in June.

without you girl is much better than jennie. jennie sound weak and i don't think she can hit high notes at all. main-while the gd' girl sound so much mature and her voice wasn't weak like jennie. the problem is can jennie perform black on live?

 

Like I said, I'd prefer for Jennie to join GD already - but only if she's ready.

What I'm wary of this outcome is that YG faps to netizen opinions, if the overall consensus is that she's not ready....it could result in the group being delayed even further than it already is.

 

Now I'm positive those October teasers are not gonna happen.

 

Well, netizens have wanted Jennie to just get kicked out of YG and that's clearly not going to happen, lol.

 

He should just move on now from Jennie though. She's featured on one of the best received songs on GD's album, and she's done her part well on both GD's and Seungri's songs. People are clearly enjoying Black considering how well it's charting, and that's one of the best forms of publicity she's going to get. Netizens aren't going to change their mind about her cause they'll always be bitter as fuck, but at least there are people whose minds have most likely changed for the better about her.

So for those of you who may not know who kim yuna is, She is the blonde member spotted with jennie often. Compare this photo to the blonde girl with jennie 

 

That girl doesn't look like the blonde girl at all to me. I'd say this girl, who's said to be Kim Yoona from Joy Dance - Plug In Music Academy (same academy that Kim Jinwoo in YG Team A is from) looks way more like her imo.

I think another problem is how short YG's training period.

If other girls joined YG around the same time as kwon daehyun (2010), then he originally planned to debut the girls in a little over a year of training (at best under two years)

He needs to get his crap together. I wonder if it's a similar situation as his winner groups...

 

YG's training period has never been quite that long though - well, at least not for everyone. Aside from GDYB, if I remember right, the other boys hadn't even trained for a year at most before they debuted. Aside from Hayi, I think the YG training period has actually gotten a lot longer than it used to be.

Black haired girl definitely looks more like Jisoo than Jennie to me now that we've seen the zoomed in pictures, reminds me of her in this picture. I'm just gonna assume that the blonde girl is the usual blonde trainee.

I don't think it's Jisoo. There are still 2 we don't know the name of. I think they are the unknown 2.

 

Well yeah, there's that too. Just that people were saying it was Jennie earlier, and I just think she looks more like Jisoo. 

 

If it's not her then once again Jisoo has most eluded the cameras.
