Why does SM show favoritism towards f(x)?

Everyone generally thinks they get mistreated (I used to) but I think it's the opposite.

  • They can quit their promotions when a member takes a break,
  • they can quit the group with no troubles,
  • SM consistently denies their dating scandals even with all the evidence,
  • they get awesome comeback teasers and promotion tactics
  • don't have to promote in Japan
  • great albums
  • great MVs
  • the only group who doesn't have to do difficult/tiring choreography,
  • only have to promote for a few weeks,
  • get to go abroad and shoot movies in China,
  • get to act in hit dramas (The Heirs)

Ooh, not to mention this upcoming collab with Pet Shop Boys.

Maybe because they are the act that brings the less revenue for them so they don't feel the need to work them till they fade?

They are also a group that is already in their 6th year gettinginto the 7th. They already peaked and they took quite a bit to breakthrough.

  • LOL at not having to promote in Japan when SM idols probably easily make the majority of their income from Japanese tours and album sales (albums cost like $25+ in Japan compared to 2c downloads in Korea). f(x) are probably relatively poor compare to their peers in SM>

I doubt it, it's true that f(x) don't do much group promo but they are aren't lacking in individual work at all, which is how F(x) will be making their money.

A lot of SM idols/groups are cash cows in Japan AND still have individual activities. I mean look at Yunho, making that Japan stadium and dome money while doing a handful of dramas a year in Korea.

Easy =/= Favoritism

In some cases, lack of favoritism = lack of opportunities = lack of promotion = "easy". Also all sm groups have high production for mv's and songs and what not.

The rest of the points make sense, but having f(x) act isn't favoritism since you have to be a good actor/actress in the first place

They have a Japanese tour coming up, that isn't working in Japan though. They probably even make more than EXO, whom are probably the main subject of SM's expenses.

Several SM idols have hinted at not liking Japanese promotions. They make enough money without all the extraness.

They don't really get much love from sm at least compared to snsd

But that's okay imo snsd deserves all the shine and red velvet does too after them

What is "love"? Shoving out constant mediocrity to collect dollars? SM doesn't "love" SNSD, SM loves the money SNSD makes.

love as in getting huge comebacks multiple times. F(x) comebacks were never a big event the way snsd and exo are it shows when sm doesn't invest much in their comebacks.

As for music, that's subjective and it stems from the fact that f(x) is considered an experimental group while snsd is a cashcow that sm can't risk much with polarizing music

f(x)'s solo activities >>>>>>>>>>>>> Yunho and many other sm groups.
