The final episode of Superstar K7 is airing today (finally!) This season was, unfortunately, rather uninteresting, it having neither the big voices, big personalities, or big hits of the previous season. Thankfully, however, the odd editing characteristic of previous seasons was barely seen -- there were little to no exaggerated sob stories or malicious editing to portray certain contestants in a negative light.

Perhaps the most memorable character amongst the eliminated contestants was punkish rocker Jhameel Kim, whose passion for music brought him all the way to the top 3. His performances every week never failed to leave the audience swooning in adoration, such as in

Another notable eliminated contestant was Dia Frampton, whose participation in the competition made waves in international news -- unfortunately, she was eliminated early in the competition and did not make it to the live shows. Stevie Werner's weird antics similarly endeared him to judges and fellow contestants alike, especially with his

Now, on to the finalists -- coincidentally, public votes resulted in the finale matchup being a traditional "guy vs girl" match-up, with Kevin Oh and Chon Dan Be being the final 2.

Kevin Oh, the self-proclaimed "odd guy" of the competition, captured the hearts of many over the past few weeks with his husky and soulful voice. The Ivy League graduate entered the competition with a bang, with his cover of Dream A Little Dream of Me already leaving judges Yoon Jong Shin and Sung Si Kyung fighting over him.

The multi-talented singer-songwriter hails from New York, and boasts an extensive musical background. He plays the piano, cello, and guitar, and has revealed his greatest musical inspiration to be "The Genius" Ray Charles.

Sung Si Kyung — Solar System

Chon Dan Be, affectionately referred to as the "Chorus Queen", has consistently wowed the judges and audience with her emotional renditions of songs. Her beautiful lower register has a unique musical quality to her covers, and has resulted in an induced sense of mysticality. As judge Baek Jiyoung best puts it, her voice is wonderfully cathartic.

Public voting has ended, with Kevin Oh attaining 55% of the public votes and Chon Dan Be 45%. This, of course, is by no means the final indicator of the winner of the competition -- text votes still play an important role.

Suffice to say, however, that this season has been a success. Ratings have remained decent despite the lack of hype or significant media attention, and it seems as if both finalists will definitely do well in their future musical endeavours.

This Kevin Oh guy is really impressive... Did he move to Korea because it's difficult for East Asians to make it in the US music scene?

no clue tbh

i know, however, that he was a finalist in dartmouth idol 2011 lol if that counts for anything
