UPDATED November 18- 1:59 AM EST:Reports of gunshots and explosions in the Saint-Denis area of Paris are coming in as police raided a building that reportedly housed multiple terrorists who were involved in the terror attacks that gripped France’s capital last Friday.

Large amounts of police can be seen, and residents in the area have been evacuated.

Some French media outlets are reporting that at least two people have been killed in the event but no official confirmation has come from French police.

French radio is reporting that the target of the raid was the mastermind of the Paris terror attacks, Abdelhamid Abaaoud. Additional sources claim that Abaaoud and two other accomplices are held up and refusing to surrender.

There are also reports that a woman inside of the building blew herself up after detonating a suicide vest.

ABC News is reporting that at least “three truckloads†of French troops are on the scene aiding in the operation with French police.

In mean time, the French President Francois Hollande on Wednesday will hold a meeting to discuss proposals to extend by three months the state of emergency declared after the worst attacks in French history. It will then be put to vote by lawmakers Thursday and Friday.

I hope it gets passed. Time to wipe these bugs off the earth.

It's to be noted that the last time there was a State of Emergency was when there were riots by mainly African Muslims.

Suspects 'were planning attack on Paris business district'

Suspected Islamist militants flushed out of a Paris suburb by police in a shootout on Wednesday were planning to attack an important business district in the French capital’s, three sources told Reuters.

A source close to the investigation source said the attack was being prepared for Thursday in the La Defense district - home to some of France’s biggest companies such as the oil major Total and the main trading room of Societe Generale bank.

Several police sources said the targets were the Quatre Temps shopping centre and the main square of the district of high-rise office buildings on the western edge of Paris.

The Paris prosecutor, Francoi Molins said: “The assault carried out last night - a new terrorist cell was neutralisedâ€

“Seeing their weapons, their organisation, this group could have acted.â€

He said cops found three assault rifles and ammo.

Two dead not identified, but 'mastermind' has not been arrested

Mr Molins has not confirmed the identity of the two people killed today, but he said alleged mastermind Abdelhamid Abaaoud was not among those arrested.

Five police were injured in the raid after the people inside resisted.

He confirmed a woman carried out the suicide bombing in St Denis but he is not able to give details of those killed yet because of “the delicate nature of the situationâ€.

Eight arrested, including one woman

Eight people, including one woman, have been arrested.

The prosecutor added that around 5,000 rounds were fired by police officers during the chaotic scenes in St Denis.

Policemen found two men in the rubble - who were immediately arrested.

Another operation was carried out at the home of an individual in touch with the terror commandos and might have made the flat available to them.

He was arrested on the street, together with a woman.

'Police received tip-off'

The raid was carried out after receiving a tip on Monday that Abaaoud was in France, which police ‘thoroughly checked’ to see if it stood up.

Molins said that investigators could not identify three men detained in the raid on an apartment in St. Denis north of Paris.

Overall eight people were arrested at the apartment or nearby, he added.

More on police assault

Mr Molins said: “Tonight five police officers from the anti-terror division were injured.

“The raid was extremely difficult - the security door held up for the first round of explosives, which allowed the terrorists to prepare their retaliation, prolific fire that was nearly uninterrupted for nearly an hour.

“I can tell you that on the police side, we shot nearly 5,000 bullets.â€

Police sources say, however, the raid was well-timed because the suspects were "about to move on some kind of operation."

• The suicide bomber who blew herself up during the Saint-Denis raid has been identified as a cousin of Abaaoud, Belgian state broadcaster RTBF reported. CNN has not verified the report, but earlier Wednesday, a Belgian counterterrorism official told CNN that before the raid, a wiretap conducted by French and Belgian authorities led them to believe Abaaoud's female cousin was in an apartment in Saint-Denis.
