I know this is so 2014, it was so popular in china...it's super catchy, tacky , a mixture of gangnam style-ish electro-house mixed with a chinese folk melody....the video is soooo tacky.......the singer is outrageous and entertaining.....cpop is so lame and unappealing these days, instead of making cookie cutter ballads and copying kpop , which is just a copycat of American music with jpop/american concepts, why not do something that's chinese...i can see this getting played in college parties with a bunch of drunk frat boys dancing and lipsycning to it

First of all, China needs to reconnect to the world wide web and start using Youtube. Kpop would be nowhere without Youtube.

^ i don't think kpop is really that global...it's just korea, japan and a few south east asian countries with really pathetic local artists that really cares about kpop..even metal is more popular than kpop here in north america...

kpop needs more personality and more of it own identity to make it mainstream...

I think China should invest in Wuxia dramas and movies.

I can find almost any subbed wuxia drama.

So there must be a fanbase out there for it.

I'm assuming it started with the dubbed dramas here in the U.S. , they liked it and wuxia gained fans so more learned Chinese and started subbing it.

Cpop would need to find its own niche and something that would appeal to others.

For one I actually like Cpop more then kpop.

I feel it isn't all about flashy MV's but actual talent

If you can get past the ballad singers then you can find really good artists .

I read an quora about this and some said that it's because the Chinese like music with nice lyrics and don't care for other genres it had something to do with a time when their music was all about working together values and I guess they see that as their identity .

no, because HK action movies (wuxia and modern action) used to be mainstream in America, playing in American theatres like 20 years ago, Jacky Chan, Jet Li, etc..were starring in Hollywood movies and their bigger HK action movies were charting top 5 in north american box office ..it was mainstream....nowadays, the HK industry is dead thanks to lack of action against piracy/censorship, so it's back to a cult thing...

you have talented ppl with a distinctive culture, but when you have a useless government...it ruins everything for its people...
