i was recently thinking of trying to get into his music again after deciding that i didn't like him a while ago.

haha and i liked Initial D too. You should watch Secret, it was his directorial debut and a good movie. Curse of the Golden Flower is good too, he's only a supporting role in that one though. I enjoyed Viral Factor also.

I will check those movies that you recommended. He is not bad in acting.

So what kind of stuff you like in pop music? Maybe I can recommend some of his music that might fit in to what you like.

He has rap/hip hop songs, too.

Thank you~

I love your username. *awesome*  :ahmagah:

people bash his acting but i don't think he's that bad either. I think he's decent but it's his facial expressions that suck, he delivers his lines fine though.

i'm open to all genres. I'm aware of all the types of songs he does because i was recommended a long list of his songs back on H8 when i was trying to get into his music, but i found him too hit or miss at the time. Plus he has that mumble singing that he likes to do which takes getting used to. So instead of songs how about album recs instead?

^ Of all the Jay Chou albums. Fantasty, The Eight Dimensions and Ye Hui Mei are my favorite albums.

Actually, his works sans the ones after 2006 are all equally good.

Of all his songs, I like the ones that are zhongguo feng style, to name a few: Blue and White Porcelain, Hair Like Snow, Chrysanthemum Terrace.

I need to keep up with what he is doing.  :omg: I don't longer know what he is doing.

Haha, right now he is promoting the movie RooFTop which he directed and acted in.

å¤©å° - RoofTop is a martial-arts/musical movie

Looks pretty interesting. Pitch Perfect? + some kung fu?  :ahmagah:

and I just realized, I forgot to add his 7th music album: Still Fantasy .................  :unimpressed: No wonder there was a jump between 2005 and 2007.. aiyo, I will add it tomorrow. >___<

I would recommend starting with his 2005-2011 albums >>>November's Chopin, Still Fantasy, I'm Very BusyCapricornThe Era, and Exclamation Mark.

I forgot about Opus 12 which is his latest. http://www.j-mp3.info/2012/12/jay-chou-opus-12.html

I was currently listing to Lóng Zhàn Qí Shì (Dragon Rider).

The Era is the album that i tried when i was first checking him out. Was meh at the time. Fantasy is a mix of some good songs and some boring ones, but i like it enough to check out another album later when i feel like it.

I listened to all the singles off Opus as the MVs were being released last year. I remember liking the Gong Gong one, or at least had fun watching the MV

Jay is totally the king. His whole discography is incredible when you really think about it, even though he recieves more criticism musically nowadays, his consistency over the last decade with the amount of songs he's released every year is incredible. I mean it would be easy for him to have had numerous hiatuses but he always finds the time to record a new album and as a fan I appreciate that so much. Of course there's some albums I like more than others but I can listen to any of his albums from start to finish and enjoy them.

It always changes but my favourite song right now is 她的ç«æ¯› Her Eyelashes. I think the chorus is cool!

Damn, I love Jay first Cpop artist i got into :ahmagah:

Favorite album is either Capricorn or The Era, LOVE Superman Can't Fly, especially the meaning behind it :datass:

Yeah, his last few album have been pretty lacking musically imo, although his mvs never disappoint :stare:

I also appreciate how much effort it must take for him to consistently release on a yearly bases AND make a different mv for practically every song he does, so much respect man.

His songwriting skills aren't bad either :hurr:

I stopped listening to Jay Chou after Capricon because I didn't enjoy that album that much. But trying to get back into his music. I wish he'll get back his momentum in song-writing skills. Opus12 has some of nice songs. Can't wait for his new album :)

Sad to see this thread 'dying'

Writing 10+ song each year for his own albums for more or less 14 years straight is amazing.

That track he did for curse of the golden flower was what got me into his music.

yay for jay chou fans!

what is everyone's favourite songs?

My ultimate favourite song would be chrysanthemum flower ost song he did for his movie. Even though I heard the way back then it's only recently that I've started listening to his music. But at the moment Ye Hui Mei, November's Chopin and Still Fantasy are probably my favourite albums.
