Visuals have taken some idols to the top and erased all of their wrongdoings regardless of their other talents or lack thereof Sehun- Everybody loves Sehun and Sebooty, but unfortunately his skills are still questionable. Although his iconic line about partying till dusk has been a global sensation, Sehun is the ultimate example of how far visuals can take you even when you're talentless. Minho, Key, Taemin * - These boys are in shinee and it seems they are praised only for their looks. In a group where their leader is also the rapper/singer/dancer/composer/personality, these 3 have been left to work with what they got.. and apparently it's been enough. *Jonghyun is left to work on his visuals and talent Yoona- Strangely she's seen as nation's beauty and even though most people outside of Korea don't agree, her visuals are still her redeeming factor. She has proven that singing or dancing or rapping is not that important in a kpop group. Let's see how long her visuals last her as she ages Twice- One cannot talk about visuals pulling you without mentioning Twice. Although they've been compared to SNSD, it is obvious their visuals are higher and talent lower. But Twice continues to slay the charts and are even in the top 10 weeks after debut. We all know this is due solely to their visuals. Seolhyun- She has been hailed as one of the top girl group members this year and we all know why. She's even popular in the army, but it's not her vocal talents that people remember. Do you agree? What other idols do you think have done this? In fact 99% of korean idols don't have "amazing" talents but it doesn't stop them and their songs still chart high. So TWICE doing well on charts is not because of their visuals and not because of their talents either. It's just like any other idol. Because people like their song~ Besides their dancing and singing are good enough for idols. As long as they sing live, dance with energy and have enjoyable performances it's enough. There are talented or beautiful singers who don't do well on charts because their songs just aren't good enough for people to notice. I was just talking about the relation between being good looking / talented and ranking high on charts. It doesn't have anything to do with each other and much less for idols. Any idol group song that ranks high on charts is either because people love the song or because the group has fandom power. TWICE just debuted and their fandom is growing but still not big enough so obviously they do well on charts thanks to people liking the song. It doesn't mean they're not pretty or talented but the reason why it charts high is not their visuals, that doesn't even make sense. But yes they're all beautiful and I love Nayeon's voice *w* and for idols it's more than enough to sing live, dance with energy and deliver good performances, and that's the case with TWICE, their stages are good. Even though Tzuyu is pretty, but if people don't like their song, would they buy it? Like I said their song being high on charts is because people like the song, as simple as that. How do visuals make a song rank high. There are talented or beautiful singers who don't find success. When idol groups rank high on charts it's either thanks to fandom power or thanks to people liking their songs. You can say that TWICE's visuals help them to have more fans, that's true, but you can't say that they find success on charts thanks to visuals. It's not even like they have a big fandom (yet) so it's not fandom power but simply people notice them and their song and are now buying it because they like the song. noon 20,968 Posted November 15, 2015 Share Posted November 15, 2015 you would think after observing an industry like kpop fans would understand that singing isn't the only valued talent but, i don't know, dancing, variety, acting, even stan attracting (which can be tied to visuals, ie why every kpop group HAS a visual) are important talents as well, yet people still try and pass off certain members as being useless or unimportant when many of the people listed in the OP do more for the group than the vocally-talented members.
