He became, he says, “a kid in this industry with millions of dollars, where people come into your life and wanna gain from you, and I was naïveâ€. He adds: â€œPeople take from you, lie to you and steal your trust.â€

Six years later he started “rebelling against everybody and everything, and being a normal 19-year-oldâ€. But he was, he thinks, held to a “different standard†than other 19-year-olds. “It’s because of the way the ‘Justin Bieber brand’ was portrayed. I was a wholesome pop star who was so amazing who had nice hair and a ****ing image that no one could ever live up to. So when all this happened people were like, ‘Woah, let’s rip him apart.’â€

As Bieber gets more introspective his tone changes. â€œI never wanted to portray myself a certain way,†he says. “I just want people to know I’m human. I’m struggling just to get through the days. I think a lot of people are. Like, today is hard. We’ve got a lot of stuff to get through, and although there’s a lot I’m looking forward to and it’s awesome, it’s a struggle.â€
In what way?

Quote:
“You get lonely, you know. People see the glam and the amazing stuff, but they don’t know the other side. This life can rip you apart. I watched the Amy Winehouse documentary on the plane and I had tears in my eyes because I could see what the media was doing to her, how they were treating her. She was on drugs and they were just making fun of that. People thought it was funny to poke her when she was at rock bottom, to keep pushing her down until she had no more of herself. And that’s what they were trying to do to me. No one knew what I was feeling. I was rebelling against something deeper, and it took me a minute to realise I’m not gonna let them win.â€
Did the Amy Winehouse documentary freak you out?

Quote:
“It didn’t freak me out, but it made me sad. When I started out I just wanted to sing and make music. I was young, didn’t read celebrity blogs or see what the **** was going on, but then I got famous and people started recognising me. I was like, ‘Dude, I didn’t sign up for this.’ And Amy in the movie talks about how she didn’t want to be famous, she just wanted to make music. It’s like, ‘Can you guys just leave me alone, I just wanna make the music. Please leave me alone.’â€
How do you handle that?

Quote:
“I let that **** affect me so bad. I used to not go places because I knew they’d follow me. But now I’m like, ‘You know what, I’m gonna have to deal with this probably for the rest of my life, so either I stay strong, or I let this affect me.’ I could think, ‘My life sucks, I have no privacy and every time I see the paparazzi I get mad.’ But that’s just gonna make me depressed.â€
Do you get depressed?

Quote:
“All the time. And I feel isolated. You’re in your hotel room and there are fans all around, paparazzi following you everywhere, and it gets intense. When you can’t go anywhere or do anything alone you get depressed. There’s a famous Jim Carrey quote, ‘If everyone was famous then nobody would wanna be famous.’ And it’s true. I wouldn’t wish this upon anyone.â€

Whenever Bieber starts feeling too sorry for himself, he puts a positive spin on it – the sort of trick a therapist might teach someone recovering from a trauma. At one point he says he has to accept his life is “a trade-offâ€, and that “if I wanna do this, there’s gonna be darkness thrown at meâ€.

That's an interesting interview, he said some really insightful stuff. I always disliked how people used to make fun of Justin for every little thing he did, especially when he was younger.

The media loves bringing public figures down, ridicule them and then they want to speak about and pretend to be sorry with things like what happened with Amy Winehouse.

Other than the money, personally, I don't really see a benefit in being famous tbh.

Honestly, I feel really bad for him. He's done some outrageous and obnoxious things, but at the end of the day he was a nice kid who was bullied relentlessly on the internet, and the fame along with it's associated lifestyle corrupted him.

I really hated how people tried (and still try)to project this thought that Justin is trash, a spoiled brat that makes terrible music.

He was just a kid when he debuted and hit it big like give him a break and he has apologized so many times and definitely realizes his mistakes in life. He's probably the prime example of how people can change for the better.

I'm really proud of him :/

Bieber is famous but not liked by the world outside his fanbase. I think he knows that now and he realises he is never going to pull a Timberlake and go from teeny-bop pop idol to well liked R&B singer.

Not great for him but rather hard to feel sorry for someone who has acted like a brat hundreds of times, parties 24/7 and is sitting on piles of money.

Just because some people dislike him doesn't mean 100% he's the Antichrist. I don't care much about Bieber, but if he wants to fix himself, why not let him? Also, there's a whole deal of homophobia in insults thrown at him calling him gay as sth outcasted and stuff like that. I'm not defending him, but rather I want to adopt an attitude of benign neglect.

Poor Amy, though :(

And thats why being famous aint worth it at all tbh

JB is only 21 yrs old and he should not be feeling depressed at all because he is young and should live his life like any 20 yr old.
Yeah his music is becoming a success but i have a feeling he is gonna end up like the rest of the celebs who went to a self destructive path :/
Hopefully he handles himself well
