[NEWS] Kang Ji-young to Star in “Assassination Classroom†Movie

It was announced that Jiyoung (知英) will star in the manga to movie adaptation of “Ansatsu KyÅshitsu†(Assassination Classroom) to hit the theaters March of 2015.

Created by Yuusei Matsui, ‘Assassination Classroom’ is a story about an alternate history where a powerful creature has destroyed a majority of the moon, and the Earth is next on its list to wreak havoc on. Although he is able to ruin the moon, permanently leaving it a crescent shape, the creature gives the people on Earth the option of changing their fate but they have one year to try and kill him/it.

This creature, a tentacled alien (to relieve or worry you, it’ll be CGI), is introduced as a teacher to class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High School in the meantime. Since the students in this class were particularly bad, the government had no problem agreeing to its demands with the only request that it did not harm the students. Every day, these students have to try to assassinate it upon entering class in order to become professional hitmen.

Jiyoung will play the role of Irina Jelavić, a professional hitwoman who is hired to kill Korosensei by becoming a part-time foreign language teacher in class 3-E. She is nicknamed "Bitch-sensei" after Karma shortened her name when she told them to call her "Jelavic-onēsama." It is a pun; the -vić in her name is pronounced -bitchi because of the students' accent.

Fuji TV’s producer Uehara Ichi stated in the interview that Kang Jiyoung is well suited for the role, which requires not only language skills but cute and sexy charms at the same time. Kang Jiyoung stated, "It's a lot of pressure, but I've been studying the manga in order to get closer to the character of the cool, sexy pro assassin."

The cast will be headed by Hey! Say! JUMP's Yamada Ryosuke山田涼介, playing Nagisa Shiota, who is taking on a main role for the first time.

As a former member of KARA, the Korean girls group leading the Kpop boom in Japan, Jiyoung (20) has started her acting career in Japan as çŸ¥è‹±. She appears in a drama series that started airing this autumn. Furthermore, she aims to have international activities as an "Asian actress" while taking advantage of being a language student.  

 

At the film site of the drama series, "Hell Teacher Nube" (NTV, every Saturday night), she was nothing but exceptional. Jiyoung's role is Yukime the Snow Woman who is in love with the protagonist. Her lines and script are in Japanese, same as the other cast members'.  She [/font]is also without an interpreter while stage directions are in Japanese.  

 

"They taught me difficult kanji characters, intonation, and stuff. Normal conversations and lines are different so they're still difficult for me, 

but I want to overcome [these difficulties]," she says with a smile.  

 

Being familiar with Japanese in dramas, films, and all means that it is now common for her to be able to watch movies in theatres. Japanese in Japan, Korean in Korea, English in England, she aims to have activities while fully immersed on the spot by taking advantage of being a language student.   

 

"Since I am of Asia, which includes Japan, I want to go to all kinds of countries and do [activities there]."  

 

In 2008, she became a KARA member at the age of 14, and has been in and out of Japan since 2010, even performing in KÅhaku Uta Gassen. Having gathered popularity in various Asian countries, she withdrew from the group when her contract with the management company expired in Spring.

To recharge, studying abroad in London became a turning point for her.  

 

"For four months, having free time to myself was a first, so I thought about what kind of person I want to become."  

 

At the end of her worries, she signed under Sweet Power, an agency that aims to expand overseas. Rich in activities overseas, it seems that she had developed an unconventional frame of mind. Besides her captivating hearts through singing and dancing, right now it's her 

"long-awaited acting" skills.  

 

"I also want to do action and love comedy movies. I want my acting skills to be verbally recognized."  

 

She will be featured as a detective in the NTV drama series "Higanbana" that starts broadcasting on the 24th.
