Article: Publishing company 'Dongnyuk' issues apology for starting IU's 'Zeze' controversy "We apologize"

Source: No Cut News via Nate

1. [+364, -52] The publishing company is suffering because of this pathetic controversy. All they wanted to do was preserve the youth of children.

2. [+322, -71] They must've been paid off

3. [+305, -72] I wonder how much they were paid to say it?

4. [+64, -3] This is flowing just like the Eunhyuk controversy ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ She's acting like the victim in all of this again

1. [+442, -98] Why are they apologizing? This is not an issue of freedom of expression, this is a crime...;

2. [+374, -54] ???

3. [+366, -58] Why are they apologizing? The majority of the public thought they were in the right. And the publishing company has a right to their own opinion, it's hypocritical for people to be putting them down for it. Shouldn't the apology be coming from another side? ã…‹

1. [+6,668, -1,310] Why are they apologizing? ã…¡ã…¡ She should be the one apologizing

2. [+5,989, -881] This is going exactly the way Eunhyuk's scandal did. She was the one who made the mistake but she acts like the victim... imagine how much of a fuss her fans made to the publishing company that they're apologizing ㅜㅜ

3. [+5,843, -1,025] I don't get why they're apologizing. IU's the one that messed with 'Zeze'... and why is she silent on all of this? Does she think it'll go away with silence?

4. [+3,721, -422] I'm getting goosebumps at all this support IU's getting on top of forcing the publishing company to apologize... IU, what are you

5. [+1,740, -153] So did Loen pay them off or did they threaten them?

6. [+1,642, -91] Is Loen threatening them? Why are they randomly apologizing?

Do people really think Loen has that much power over a publishing house when all of the public is on the publishing house's side right now  :imstupid:

The publishing house probably got spooked by all the people calling IU a psycho pervert pedophile (an actual comment that got lots of upvotes in a previous translated article). glad they at least see the absurdity now.

You mean support from a few key voices who are pointing out that many of the accusations sound warped?

Not saying they did or didn't pay them off but they actually do lol. Leon is rich af and has many connections. The publishing company isn't even a big one at that. And everyone being on the publishing house's side would be more than enough reason to pay them off.

Well, if people are going to say that LOEN paid the publishing company for an apology, we might as well say that the publishing company intended for this to be paid off from the start (and thus weren't all that sincere about the ''offence''; money and publicity was their goal). They likely didn't care about IU's interpretation of Zeze, saw the opportunity via Pann, and made profit off of it.

Saying they were ''sincere'' about their apology is equivalent to saying they were ''sincere'' about their taking offence. Consistency........concerning this controversy, either their actions were motivated by genuine sentiment (in which they felt wronged ---> saw the mistake they committed; LOEN doesn't pay them) or for monetary purposes (both occasions were thought out; LOEN paid them).

Personally, I don't have an opinion over all this because we'll never know. Just saying that you can't have one without the other.

5000 people didn't read her apology + explanation? why am i not surprised....

also they wouldn't have needed to apologize if they hadn't said some bullshit like "freedom of expression comes at the permission of the public" seeing as that was the point most critics were attacking them at.

Firstly, in the book it says "Climb up me". Netizens were angry about this line and compare it if it was a lyric of a man to a girl.

It was the netizens who have dirty mind. It was a TREE. the tree asked Zeze "Climb up me".

IU may need apologize for use the word "sexy", but 80% of knetz needs to apologize too for thinking "Climb up me" is a secret code to sexual lyrics, when it's just a line from the book.

The publishing house will likely see My Sweet Orange Tree sales spike in the coming weeks, they received a ton of public support, and they potentially got a buy-off. Pretty sweet deal for them through all this.  :stud:

The book is mostly out of print...like there's only one available in Korean on Amazon for like $102... :imstupid:

IU was wrong, yes, but this shit is ridiculous at this point. Actual pedophiles in Korea are getting like 1 year prison sentences but these nuts would rather expend all their energy and time toward hating her and bringing her down. Fuck this pathetic witch-hunt.

Maybe the publishing company just didn't agree with her interpretation. That doesn't mean they think IU is a pedophile or promoting pedophilia tbh. They probably just gave their two cents about the issue because their book was involved and realised it was much bigger than they thought.

i think she used the wrong word choice, and that was dumb on her part and Loen's part b/c how does someone in PR not say "WHOAH, we gotta reshoot this & IU don't say anything involving 5 yo is sexy".

beyond that i feel like a lot of the blame goes to witch hunters over her dating life. like this idea that 23 which is attacking the loli concept would be followed by Zeze as a pedo promotion song. i kinda feel like no one seriously believes that, so once you remove that only bad thing is word choice of sexy to describe duality of Zeze in the book.

dumb but hardly the great crime people want to justify screechy outrage over.

this would be my best bet too tbh (tho of course all we have is conjecture). they probably didn't realize that IU is like the third rail of kpop right now.... anything she touches blows up in flames.....
