fufu 580 Posted November 8, 2015 Share Posted November 8, 2015 So, i've reached a point in my life where i've realised there's really nothing to stick around for. My friends don't care, my family is distant and i'm just wasting my life. So why not go abroad and do something different? Obviously, my first choice is to go to South Korea, and i've found a few cool places in Seoul and Busan that look really fun. I would just like to know if anyone else has travelled abroad for voluntary work (where you get free accommodation in exchange for working), and what, if any, advice you have? I wanted to volunteer in Japan with the volunteer internship program my university's Japanese program holds every year, but I missed my opportunity to do it. I really think it's meaningful to help out those who are less fortunate or just help out communities in whatever way I can, particularly since I would consider myself to be living an incredibly privileged life in comparison to others. twinky 15,878 Posted November 10, 2015 Share Posted November 10, 2015 How did it go? it was a good experience.i loved it and wish i could stayed longer ( originally planned for a month) but at that time my university semester started so i had to leave i volunteered under a non profit organization and i met with volunteers from different parts of the world and some spent months there i got free accommodation ( a nice room in a traditional thai house with wifi). plane tickets were sponsored by my university but for other expenses i bear it on my own Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I don't know if this counts, but it was like a summer camp thing in Europe and even though the whole trip wasn't volunteer work, we still did some.
