This was great to see. Also nice to see Sujin - was really worried after the accident, but she is recovering well so thats all that matters.

You know, looking back over m9, and if you take the FAVE audition out the equation, you would never really know if Soomin was part of FAVE or not. Wish we had gotten to see some Soomin/Sujin interactions, especially since both of them would have made the girl group if it debuted and no accident had happened.

I dont mean anything bad, but the show made it like they were complete strangers. We got some Soomin/Bowon stuff for Really really, but that was about as far as the interactions between the agency girls went. Wanted to see more! rlytearpls.png

I think the girls went there to do their best individually and to some extent, purposely avoided being together too much. They were in different songs most of the time and all... I think it was a good strategy, it showed they can all hold their ground, sort of... There were some interactions in the bus and in pictures^^

This wasn't a show for the group, we'll get to see more interactions on LOENGIRLS sns (I'm looking forward to Soyeon/Soomin who seem super close^^ and Sujin/Haerin, Suhyun/Bowon, Soeun/Jiyoon)

As for Jiyoon, I agree she's not a visual, but she's only a 2002 liner, she still has squishy cheeks (Soeun too btw) she'll glow up. She has very good vocals, she's our lead vocal if Soomin is main, and she is the funny one for variety... I wouldn't count her out too fast, I have a feeling she'll fight her way in no matter what^^

Soomin and Sujin just seem like such different idols and appeal seemingly to very different fanbases.

I feel like I'm the only one who stans both.

Not at all, there is at least me too xD I think the biggest difference between both is the visual appeal? A lot of people started stanning Sujin for visuals, and then found out the girl is actually good.

For Soomin, though I think she's pretty, her stans mostly came because the girls is just sooo talented and well rounded.

But in the end, they both proved they are pretty, talented, smart and have their own image and personality that stands out. I think they are quite similar in that aspect^^

New poll! I'm not sure what to do with the tags, I guess it would be best to raise traffic to the thread, but as I am not a person who uses the tags much on OH, I'm not sure which ones to pick.

I hope we can decide together^^'

******

Results from the previous poll :

The majority of users want a group with 7-8 members (then 5-6, 3rd place was 10+ members, very few want 9-10 or 4 and less members)

The top 7-8 expected members would be in order:

Soomin, Soyeon, Sujin, Bowon, Haerin, Jiyoon, Soeun/Yujin (then come still in order: Yerim, Ranyoung, Suhyun/Minseo and Haeun)

I would actually love it if Soomin uses "Soom", it's a nickname friends must give her, used to be her IG name too, and in Korean it means "breath". Since there is the actress Lee Soomin who is growing in popularity, it could be a nice alternative.

The ones most in need of a stage name are Soyeon (because of T-ara Soyeon) and Sujin (yeah... There are lots of Sujin if you look it up in Korean on Naver) I guess Jiyoon because of 4minute Jiyoon too?

Well Yerim too, but because of her story, I expect her the least to have a stage name.

After rewatching Holiday, I think Soeun is a Main Vocal in training.

She's so young yet YG put her in the debut bus with Sujin so YG must have seen something very promising in her.

I was surprised with her vocal power and her stability while still projecting her voice. (Holiday)

I'm beginning to think she was eliminated prematurely from Mixnine before she had time to really shine. She just chose the wrong teams to join in the initial missions and never recovered from her first missteps.

Now this is where I think I will get into trouble on this thread:

If I'm just going by Mixnine results and the need for a power vocal/vocal backup for Soomin and assuming Yerim is not part of Favegirls:

Core : Soomin (Leader), Sujin (Center/Lead), Haerin (Lead/Visual), Bowon (Visual/subvocal), Soeun (Main Vocal in training)

I am shocking myself but I'm starting to think Soyeon is becoming peripheral. YG may have couched it as not wanting her due to past reality TV experience but I think he really wasn't impressed by Soyeon's rapping. Soyeon may be great, but not essential to what Favegirl is shaping up to be.

Possible/probables : Jiyoon (variety/lead), Suhyun(Visual/lead)

Jiyoon aside from her variety and OK vocals is just the standard filler member. Suhyun is dangerously reaching retirement age despite her visuals and she doesn't seem to be connecting to audiences.

Precarious : Minseo (Maknae), Yerim (Power Vocal) and Yujin (???)

Yerin from her latest photos just does not look debut ready. Call me un-PC but the K-netz will tear her apart if she debuts like this just like they did with Kyla from Pristin. Yujin was the only Favegirl that did not pass the first cut by YG and had no excuse--Soyeon was rejected because of her past Kpopstar and PD101 experience. Same for Yerim. Yujin was rejected by YG even when she has no past reality-show baggage. He simply didn't think she was good enough. I still fail to see what Minseo brings to the table.

I know what I said will hurt some people's feelings that they will want to neg or bash but please believe me when I say I found it difficult to type all of these especially about Soyeon but after seeing how good some of Favegirls' competition are in Mixnine, especially rappers like Musicwork's Jieun, allrounders like Bonusbaby Hayoon, Loona's Heejin and Stan-attractors like Coridel's Hayoung, it puts things in perspective and how important it is to have a lean mean team when you debut.

Please state your points if you believe me wrong and point out what I may have missed. I would love to be set right.

I don't think you're wrong, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I hope you won't get negged for it, as I myself have opened up about what my ideal lineup would shape up to be, and it didn't include all 11 girls either.

I do think your opinion is too strongly based on one survival show only, that doesn't necessarily represent the reality. Bear in mind, YG has very unique criteria when choosing idols, i can bet all you want he would have never picked girls like SNSD Yoona or Miss A Suzy, yet they must be some of the most successful idols of their generation... YG has a type, not fitting his type =/= not being good enough.

As for not connecting with the audience, Mixnine had super, super low ratings. To the point I'm almost happy the boys won, so Fave can focus on debuting the girls quickly without waiting for Mixnine promotions to be over.

Super low ratings also means whoever won the show connected with the audience, but the audience didn't necessarily represent the general public's opinion.

Especially for Soyeon, who ranked super high in Kpop Star (massive audience) and PD101 (fairly big audience), not making Mixnine has little meaning in the course of her career or in rating her potential, but that's just my opinion about it ^^'

I actually want a smaller group too but I think I will be sad if some members don't make it

anyway seeing Gugudan recently I don't really know how I feel about how many members I want.

They have 9 members. 3 from PD101. We all know Sejeong is so popular and Jellyfish try to push her too. But... recently Sejeong sings 41% of their new song. On their Vlive there are some people saying that Sejeong should just go solo and Gugudan read it too :( they have a famous member and good songs (esp this new song) but they don't really do well... some poeple saying it's because her group has too many members so they just lose interest. Pristin and Weki Meki too have many members but many people only know some members from PD101. And their debut didn't live people's expectations either.

I'm actually just worried this will happen to Fave girls but it depends on their agency, their song, their concept, etc. I hope their debut will make all members shine. If their debut don't do well, they will lose all the hype esp from Mix9. I know they still have a long way to go and maybe they can't be successful right away but I just hope for the best for all Fave girls.

anyway I'm saying that about PD101groups based on knetz's opinions that I read. I hope people don't get me wrong :)

I would also be sad if some girls don't debut, especially considering we got to know them all through social media now, but at the same time, I feel the big group trend is starting to fade, and having 10 members (since I don't believe Yerim will be in the group^^') can make it hard to break through.

I'd rather have less members and a successful group, than many members struggling to appear in anything but music shows and having unfair line distribution (See Bowon and Suhyun's 2 shared lines in Holiday^^')... I'd be happy if all girls debut together too, but I feel less girls would be better, especially considering the amount of talent and skills these girls have, what a waste if they end up with 1 line per song.

I'd say 5 to 7 girls is enough, works well and gives enough space for everyone to shine. I would be in favor of Fave making a final selection among the girls we know before debut, but I feel they're set on a 10-member group at this point^^'

So I'm just hoping for a debut in say a couple of months... I don't want to wait too long, and Fave needs to move on before Soomin and Sujin (and to a lesser extent Haerin and Bowon) get forgotten, Soyeon's hype has already died down so much since PD101...

she grew on me laugh.png

specially after watching her dino force brave acting

i think Bowon is the one that caught my eye first

Same here, Bowon ... Bowon is the most photogenic person I have seen in my entire life. She looks good on pics and camera no matter what she does, that's more than skill, she was born for it xD

Assuming this rumor is true, I wonder who from Favegirls is joining this competition.

I wouldn't trust that too much, PD48 group will have a long term contract. Unless they send someone they cut from the lineup, or some younger trainee, I don't really expect Fave to be on it.

+ I want Fave to promote them like crazy when they debut, and give a lot of comebacks, so no time for promoting in another group simultaneously

Fave won't trust shinsadong tiger again  since he was the main composer for Fiestar between 2013-2015laugh.png

he did serious bops tho

imo, Fave should try with IU composing/wrtiting them a song (they'll get attention thanks to IU ride, so they'll be in the radar a bit)

after that it'll depent on Fave's management of the group

IU's style is not very suitable for a girl group who will dance a lot... I agree about the dark style, though I love it, it's something that can only be done once in a while when you have a stable fandom willing to follow you through it. They'll gain fans and momentum with colorful concepts and songs with good hooks, it's what works best in debut years. Idk composers much, I never really got interested in who composed what, I just enjoy the song or I don't ^^' But I would love for them to pick up a style similar to Kara's Jumping/Step/Mama Mia. These were so good and had a lot of personality, I think it would suit them and enable them to show charisma without going on the cute side.

you're right about IU's style rlytearpls.png

Imo they should try something like IOI veryx3,

f(x) pink tape (school concept but not the cute side)

or this type

these concepts are the safer ways for the girls

i don't see Sujin doing a badass hip hop concept laugh.png

and i don't see Suhyun, Soomin and Soyeon doing an extremelly cute concept

I loved #LoveMe^^ buuut.... More upbeat. I actually loved Favorite's debut song

but with a stronger chorus, here it's a bit weak, but it would probably be too similar to OMG

As long as they have a public friendly debut song (Vista anyone? One of the best debut song out there), a solid follow-up (let's forget We Don't Stop pls) they should be ok imo. Girly/colorful concept should work too (especially considering they'll debut during spring/summer)

Vista was a bop... But all the comebacks were lackluster T.T (sorry fans... I followed the group with Vista and sort of stopped following when the comebacks were so average... Shame cause they have super talented members)

Ok, going into "Can I be honest and oops I'm getting into trouble!!!" territory again.

IMHO, half the girls seem to fit into one concept and half the girls seem to fit into another and right now there's an obvious split personality in Favegirls' training group.

Soyeon, Soomin, Haerin and Suhyun seem to fit into the darker, more chic , girlcrush concept. More "YG" in general.

Sujin, Bowon, Jiyoon, Soeun and Minseo seem to fit the more bubbly, schoolgirl, fresh concept that appeal to fanboys. More early SNSD "SM", Girlfriend in general.

I foresee problems coming up with a unifying concept for these two main and very different groups that doesn't seem forced or artificial. Imagine trying to produce a concept for a group that had both Twice and BlackPink members.

I'm sure some girls can fit into either group but you get what I mean, some of the girls just seem so different, it will be awkward forcing them to fit a common concept.

The problem is that Soyeon and Soomin joined. Before that, I could see no problem about Sujin, Haerin, Bowon, Jiyoon and Minseo being in the same group. Haerin looks like she could be bubbly too if required.

The problem is worsened because Soyeon and Soomin are arguably the 2 most popular members so it's not a case of just getting rid of the 2 of them. I say this with Soomin and Soyeon being my 2 bias in Favegirls.

Does Fave build around the main group and risk their 2 popular members sticking out like sore thumbs or build around just the 2 most popular members and risk the other 6-8 girls being glorified backup dancers being forced into a concept that is totally alien to them?

Actually Soomin can do cute, and on the other hand, Sujin and Soeun can do fierce.

They have quite a few members that are versatile when it comes to genre. But It's not limited to fierce or cute, there are groups that do well going for a different concept, OMG comes to mind. BP is not only fierce, and Twice is going down cute route now but they didn't debut with cute... SNSD went through all sorts of concepts and pulled them all off, even when some members hated them. You can have innocent but powerful concept like Gfriend or Fromis too, Soyeon would have pulled that off well if she was in the group. It's just not really the route I want the group to take, but it could work for them...

I want these concepts rlytearpls.png  Something fun and energetic without being too "school girl" or "badass"

and a song like this please aaaaah

I want something fun and energetic too, but a bit more... I guess it would be girlcrush? Compared to your suggestions:

EDIT: I really loved the slightly retro vibe of Ladie's Code Pretty Pretty (shame most of the pre-accident songs are a sensitive topic now, because they were amazing and really set a nice unique color), or something a bit retro like Spica's I'll be there or Tonight... But I guess they are not really songs that are easy to break through ^^'

d-did you download those videos? i was gonna go back and download them now i have a good internet connection but they were deleted/privated

PARTY XXO IS THE PERFECT SONG FOR THEM OMG

Right?^^ I think the party mood/girls have fun/upbeat dance track would be amazing for a debut, something like saying "We're fun, come join us and dance" sort of thing.

I reeeaaally reaaaally hope Loen doesn't go for uniform (school uniform or not) and goes for individual styling with a group feel (like f(x), Twice or Kara, but others too really). With a lot of members, it's important to give an individual image to everyone so every girl will find her own fandom, if you dress everyone the same, they're all the same for outsiders, and if they don't grab your eye, then it's over. If they are all styled differently, you're bound to find one girl you like.

If I had to make a bet, I'd say that Fave will go for a darker chic styling and sound. More Run Devil Run than Oh!, more Lupin than Step. Their Instagram photos suggest a restrained and understated styling, and Soyeon and Soomin, the two most widely known (and anticipated?) trainees in the lineup, have received more attention for their more mature performances.

I would agree and actually love it, if the group didn't include Jiyoon and Soeun (2002 liners) and Minseo (2003 liner), actually Sujin (Yerim) (2001 liners) and even Bowon, Yujin and Haerin (2000 liners, well Haerin is on the edge as a fast-liner) are not of age in Korea yet.

I know Lupin had a very young Jiyoung, and I go crazy because of you a very young Jiyeon, but nowadays, underage idols are under a lot more scrutiny for their concept, stage outfits and dance moves... I hope the group can go there when they mature, but if would be safer to start with a colorful and fun concept first..

With no confirmed concept, content, members, or debut date, I'd be surprised if more people were ON the hype train. I think the group has amazing potential, but it's going to be difficult to build an international fanbase on nothing but Instagram posts of hanbok and chocolate.

It's not really like the girls are unknown... Soyeon and Soomin definitely could have brought more hype, but the lack of concept and debut news is definitely hurting their attraction potential. Fave could start releasing them in sub-units or solo for the girls that are ready, to not lose their hype and get people interested... They let Soyeon's fame fade away after PD101, and they're doing it again with Soomin, and Sujin (even if Mixnine had flop ratings, people knew the center Sujin)...

I'm happy for the pictures and videos, they're fun, but I want them to perfom even if it's covers on Youtube, let us see them perfom full songs together, as a group! T.T

omg i think there's a confusionlaugh.png

i'm pretty sure the dark haired girl is Sujin (the filter makes her hair look reddish)

Haerin is in front of a Mirror

look at the line over Sujin's head separation of the wall and the mirror

and the last photo of Yujin in the Fave girls ig on december (not considering the ones shared of the preparation for mixnine)

and she still had that dark blonde hair

don't really remember if there's another pic of Yujin

Omg you're right it's a mirror... ^^' I'm sorry, I was happy I really thought it was Yujin^^'

LOEN is huge. Not only does it own all these entertainment companies, it also owns Melon and 1theK.

It's actually bigger than the Big 3 : YG, JYP and SM put together.

If it finally learns how to leverage its influence and resources to produce and promote our girls debut properly, there's no telling how well Favegirls could do. They could be the girl group equivalent of IU in terms of success and public acceptance.

That's why I am a little mystified why everyone seems to overlook Favegirls when talking about 2018 debuts. There is a sleeping giant who hasn't yet realized her hidden potential.

Like others have said, no matter the amount of resources, Loen/Fave has never shown they can promote a group well. So I understand people not caring much for the group's debut, but I do have my hopes up that it's going to change, it feels like Loen have been doing more than ever in pre-debut times for this group, they might have realized they can do better...

also Loo, i love the yellow aesthetic in your badge arrangment ^^

Thanks^^ Yuha looks a bit like the odd one out, she's the only one that is not one of my biases too ^^' but it's the only badge with someone I like that matched

I dont think this work for reasons the others have stated above since it can cause splits in the fandom.  Granted they will fade into the minority as time goes by, but honestly I feel like its better to debut the full group from day 1.

I don't necessarily think the whole group needs to debut as a whole from day 1, I actually like how Loona has been released, it just lasted too long imo. I think debuting a group and adding members is the problem, because you present something as a whole and later on you're like "well no, it wasn't, let me add members because the members I had were not enough".

If you debut say 2 or 3 units (naming them units, parts of something that will be whole later on), and then you put them together in a group. It's interesting because you can give the group an edge, like RV or BP with dual concepts, but you fit the 2 concepts to the units and give the group a "color" that mixes them.

I could totally see a girl crush unit with half the girls, and a sweet/innocent unit with the other half, and match them up in a colorful and fun concept (I want my "girls have fun" concept xD) when they are together. I would love the idea. It would be fresh and new and give a chance to all the girls to shine (because 10 members is a lot when together) and it would also match our girls, since we know half are girl crush and the other half is cuter. The unit can be a lasting thing too, like give each unit a song in their albums/mini-albums, and use the songs in concerts or even have units perfom on music shows (like that 2nd stage you get just when you come back) etc...

I'm totally picturing it now, with 3 units:

- Fierce: Soomin, Soyeon, Yujin, Soeun

- Cute: Haerin, Sujin, Minseo (Yerim)

- Weird: Jiyoon and Suhyun (something like gugudan ogu ogu or Orange Caramel)

With 2 units:

- Girl crush: Soomin, Soyeon, Yujin, Haerin/Bowon, Sujin

- Innocent: Suhyun, Jiyoon, Soeun, Minseo, Bowon/Haerin (Yerim)

BTW am i the only one thought Soeun,Sujin,Jiyoon and Haerin already a confirmed members considering how much they have been well(?) not so well actually promoted which obviously not enough these couple few weeks.

Definitely, and I have to admit I am starting to be worried about Yujin... She was our only "old" trainee with Soyeon, well Soomin is an old trainee too, she just didn't train at Loen...

Loona's method is totally different from what has been done before for sure.  Releasing individual and unit stuff all the way up to the full group debut.  That works as a concept and I love what they are doing - when the full group debuts though, that's it, we know all the members and there is no other members added at that point - which is what you are saying and what I meant smile.png   Once FAVE debut the whole group, then that is their members. I dont want them to come a year down the line and add more members.

If we go down the route that Yosafbridge was talking about then that is essentially adding members to the group a year later.  But, if FAVE made it 100% clear that the first group was a unit then that could potentially work.

Part of the reason i think it works for Loona is that its a constant flow of information.

They made it clear that they were building individuals/units which in time will come to the full 12 girl group reveal (aaaaa its so close now, I am getting excited!!! ahmagahplz.png ) so the expectations were set straight from day 1.  However, even that that in itself might not work.  Loona has the additional advantage of an (almost) daily youtube video that shows the group taking form and it shows older members interacting with the newer members.  Without that then I feel like their would be a bigger disconnect in the fanbase.

Let's say FAVE went with your fierce unit in April - Soomin, Soyeon, Yujin, Soeun and made it clear that it was a unit.  But then we get nothing but those 4 until 2019, when the rest of the girls suddenly appear.  If there is nothing in between, nothing filling the gaps then for all intents and purposes all FAVE has done is add girls to the original 4.

I suppose it comes down to how they market the whole thing.  I would not be adverse so them releasing a unit first and give some of the other girls more time to get ready - so long as they do it right and market the whole thing properly!

I am assuming they would do it right when I suggest units xD It doesn't need to be as must content as BBC is doing with Loona, maybe slightly more, or more organized, than what we get now would be fine as pre-debut promotion to show interactions between the units^^

And it would make no sense to debut one too much earlier, they should be followed closely, like 1st unit, 2 months later second unit, 2-3 months later group debut. But at least the "older" girls would be debuted, and once they have, you can start sending them on shows and stuff while the younger team gets to finish prepping and training.

i think she looks odd because of the super light filter ^^, but everyone is wearing yellow so it looks pretty chuplz.png

the units idea sounds good ahmagahplz.png and how you placed the members oddly fit lol i wouldn't have thought about that

i really really hope Yujin comes backunsure.png

After giving it more thought, my 3 units are balanced but not the 2... You can't put Soyeon, Soomin, Sujin, Bowon and Haerin in the same team, that's the death of the other team ^^'

----------------------------------------------------------------

A bit random, but I was waiting for 25 voters (we got 26!) so here is our poll result:

xhwiNCz.png

I guess some of my poll questions were not that clear xD

You guys prefer having some trainee names rather than none, and first+last name won by one vote ^^

So top 10 will become our tags (until Park Haerin, I'm gonna favor her tag over "Fave Entertainment" with the same amount of votes since "Fave" alone had more votes)

I'm gonna be updating.

If you have any new poll idea, feel free to suggest. I'll just put up something I can come up with for now^^'

maybe that's just me, but lovelyz and apink dont fit in the cute groups at all unsure.png

all i can think of is secret's shy boy, orange caramel's magic girl/a-ing and strawberry milk's ok as cute concepts lol

I didn't want to name songs, I wanted to name groups that generally speaking go for a specific concept... Lovelyz has matured a bit in more recent releases, but to me they're still a cute group, same for Apink ^^'

On the other hand, Secret has really had dual concept, sexy and cute, would be hard to explain a group that has a song like poison is cute^^'
