Look and style make the music more appealing to the public, if artists don't package their music and talent in a visually appealing way is not going to sell, so yes, the image is important in k-pop. Just look at their MVs. BB or 2NE1 always pack their music in a visually appealing way, their look and style make the music more appealing to the public.
