Joy, who used to be insecure and quiet... [her confidence story]

I saw a negative Joy thread earlier talking about her personality. From that, I want to actually explain how to build confidence which I think is a much more valid thing to speak about. I want to talk about how Joy, who is seen as this "bright and upbeat" person wasn't like that before. She was really quiet, didn't know her place at all.

As someone who watches Red Velvet, what I LOVE most about Joy the most is that she isn't fussy or pretentious. Everything Joy feels, it shows on her face. She doesn't take herself too seriously, laughs loudly. And to get to that point of self-acknowledgment she had to build up her self worth because at the beginning she never thought she was good enough. Mind you, this is a girl who didn't want to be part of SM Rookies because she herself felt she wasn't ready.

This is how Joy replied to a fan who was always quiet. Joy said that she was like that too but had to learn to have an open heart in everything she does

I remember something else she said. If there's no door in front of you, make it yourself....

Stated by her members early this year "She is Red Velvet’s maknae but she is the oldest in her family. Maybe that is why she has a mature side and she also likes to listen to her unnies’ problems."

She is seen as a young person but she has a very expressive personality. The members choose her as the most sensible member and when asked what quality they are most jealous of that Joy has, its when Joy communicates her words, people can see how articulate and expressive she is. (Sorry i forgot the radio show)

Honestly, I was a very quiet person too. For that, it took me longer to find a job, to express myself to friends, etc. I had a horrible speaking problem and I couldn't even function during speaking presentations for college. To actually find true self confidence is a loooong road for some (especially me) and it is something really amazing to have.

She seems like a sweet girl and I like her personality. I just thought her VIBE was a bit off!!!! Vibe doesn't equal personality bc I don't know her! But I'm sure that one negative aspect I had about her will go away :)

i feel the same for Yeri

Yes, that is Joy for you. Red Velvet is lucky to have both maknae that are the oldest sibling in their family. Both Joy and Yeri really manage to give a mature aura to the group. All Red Velvet members compliment each other well.

For you, I hope you can slowly build the confidence and get what you want to in the future.

I actually didnt knew about this (im a flop fan that dont like reading interviews), reading this make me love her even more, im really shy and introvert aswell and i have a hard time approaching people and being confident in myself, knowing Joy, who is my ultimate bias, was lile this too and overcame it and turned into such a confident person really makes me want to look up to her.

It feels good to know i can truly relate with her now and now i see her more as a role model than just an idol i obsess over.

The love i have for Joy was already unexplainable but now it growed even bigger than that <3

That's the way it will always be. Because being shy makes people think that she is stuck up…she's so pretty, talented and charming, so she should have a full right to go on..just show them what she got. . she must be willing to be uncomfortable at times even if she's not used to it…
