But I dont see how they sacrificed anything when from the start EXO was planned to promote on and off as 6/6 and 12. They were to promote separate for mini albums and together for full album. Example: Debut album- Mini- Separate Wolf/Growl-Full Album-Together Overdose-Mini-Separate. Annndddd thats as far as it got before Kris f*cked it up. On top of that, EXO-M stans claim that SM abandoned their activities in China. Well did you all forget that for the Overdose comeback SM actually had an entire roster of Chinese promotion lined up for EXO-M in China?? Did you forget that SM teamed up with Baidu for more advancements for EXO-M in China? Did you all forget that SM was planning freakin EXO Showtime Ver.2 in China?! But you know who screwed all that up... Sooo. why do EXO-M stans say SM abandoned the concept of EXO-M if they had all this future chinese activity planned for them. EXO-M stans love harping about how "EXO-K flopped in Korea and SM brought EXO-M over to save the day. Why? because EXO-M won rookie awards in China and apparently EXO-K totally flopped right??? NO. More like EXO-K sold way more albums than EXO-M (as usual) and EXO-M won rookie awards against no one because China idol industry was dry af before SM debuted EXO so they literally had NO COMPETITION. Meanwhile, EXO-K had tons of competition in 2012 with other K-groups including BAP, VIXX, BTOB, BuskerBusker, & 75 other nugu groups that debuted that year. & they still won rookie awards which M stans ignore Unfair treatment? who knows. Most of their claims were contradictory in many ways. Overworked but complaining about not enough (solo) work..(even though their not even 2 yrs old at that time >.>) Tao-> injured leg -> SM tells him not to perform & gives him off time > TAO insist on being there > has crutches in korea / Walks fine in China soon after. Hmmm not enough activity in China? ... well they didnt let SM do it did they? Tempted with greed? likely. So there. if they stayed Im pretty sure SM would've put EXO-M promos in overdrive since they were in a good place with the success of Growl.. but again who ruined it?? SM??? They were meant to be twin groups, promoting at the same time in different countries. Technically EXO12 were two wholes. No one knows why SM decided to merge them into one. Usually they only got together for 'special stages' like mama but then SM decided to put them together for their first comeback. It worked, I mean they won with wolf and growl made it even better. TheKaiTales 3,483 Posted October 23, 2015 Share Posted October 23, 2015 hmmm I don't agree with people who say that Exo-M was sacrificed for ot12, not only that but when Exo-M stans say shit like Exo-K should be grateful, when it was Exo-K sharing their Cf with Exo-M, because Exo-M could get group cfs in China etc. I laugh when they say that Exo-K got famous in South Korea because of Exo-M, like what kind of delusion? Exo had a big fanbase from the beginning, but it was Growl as a song that made them relevant to the public and then it was SM pulling at every opportunity that Growl gave them to promote themselves that meant that out of all the groups that year Exo are the ones who benefited the most from their hit. That said, SM did 'ruin' Exo-M in a way, but with regards to the fact that they kind of thought they could put Exo-M in China and promote them the same way they did Exo-K in Korea, and be reflections of each other but it was never going to work, the music scene in China is completely different to SK, so SM was always going to need to sell Exo-M differently but they didn't. I hope if they ever venture into China again with a group they keep this in mind. Also Cfans do contribute but it comes in the form of money from touring and on another level sm wants china for the money they could've raked in with Exo from cf deals and drama/film deals but as I said before for SM, it's group >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> solos, they are gonna have to change that and work out a solo/group function for China. I think they wanted to try out something new or realised that in special stages more people paid attention(?). Big groups can either be a hit or miss but for exo it was obviously a hit. I dont think it worked bc they were 12, (although most fans like ot12 more) I think it worked because EXO had been silently building up their fandom for a year while on hiatus. they fans were still spazzing over them nonstop despite the fact that they were gone for a year, so when they came back the fandom was thirsty to support them after so long.. even w/ a song like Wolf. The fact that they won #1 with Wolf with the power of I-fans got them noticed by more K-fans. then they released a good song like Growl and really hit big.
