[Discussion] Lay isn't dumb, why would he not attend EXO's Dome Tour?

As you might have heard it has just been announced that the last of EXO's Chinese members, Lay, is going to miss EXO's first Japanese dome tour. The tour has 6 stops in Tokyo and Kyocera's domes with a total capacity well over 200 000. Fans are upset about him not attending such a historic tour, especially since the tour has been planned for months. Lay has control over his own schedules, and whatever schedule he has in China must've been booked after the dome tour was planned.

This whole situation begs a number of questions:

- Why won't he attend?

- Why would Lay turn down a tour that could make him millions of dollars?

- What is Lay doing in China that could possibly be more important?

- Why did SM announce the news just 2 weeks ahead of the tour?

- Why would Lay attend EXO's other concerts, but now suddenly miss the most lucrative ones?

- Why would SM let Lay not attend?

- Will Lay leave EXO, will he return or will. he remain a half-member of the group?

The main ideas I can think of for him missing the tour are:

- He has a big opportunity lined up in China

- SM didn't let him attend because they are upset about something he's done

- He would rather do solo work than work with EXO

What do you think about this whole affair?

We know the why: he had individual schedules that clashed with the tour/preperarions for the tour. It's how people feel about this fact that's up to discussion. Personally I'm just thinking back to 2013 lay/exo and wondering wtf happened. I can't even enjoy exo showtime now without feeling depressed dammit

Ngl, something definitely seems off and I'm not sure if it's as simple as "Lay wants to put his career before EXO because he's selfish". Before insulting Lay and putting the blame all on his shoulders, people should be rational and take in consideration he stood with EXO through so much stuff so I don't think he would simply give up on group activities, especially such an important one, out of nowhere and just because he feels like it.

Even if it means he's going to leave the group it's about time people stop getting brainwashed by SM media tactics and realize it's not a coincidence so many of their idols left their groups. There's also something really shady going on with the company.

????? You mean SM make million of dollars, I doubt the members earn that much.

Maybe he snatched an important movie role? A big role in a movie benefits him personally still more than the Dome Tour.

but isn't a dome tour like one of the biggest or probably the biggest achievement a group could ever got....... why would he not attend it?  :._.: Is he even doing something bigger than an activity that is on par with dome tour scale?

Exactly.

I think we should wait to see what kind of schedule he would have or if something happened.

Honestly the dome tour is so important there has to be something.

Its all started with missing schedules, and the rest is history..

Btw, please support exo by buying exo 2nd box.

don't do this to my kokoro :rlytearpls:

He may not be able to prepare for it since he's so busy, and even if he can attend a few dates, it will be inconvenient for everyone to plan around his absence for the rest of the dates: adjusting the choreo, all his parts in all the songs, solo stages/their timings etc.

And for whatever personal schedules he might have maybe everyone he's working with can't meet up at other times? idk.. :/

-Who knows without further details but who's to say his other "obligations" won't reap just as similar a fine amount? You could also play the card (although this is very unsubstantiated and is just another possible spin on it??) and say that he's willing to sacrifice the money here to show that he is loyal to the chinese market? Maybe it's a trade off?

-Money. If you were a business that was trying to keep shareholders happy and employees paid and profits high, it'll be about money. Unethical but sometimes that's just what it is. Capitalism works like that. Joy.

-Although we never really know, it could have something to do with that lucrative contract he has with sm(??) something referenced in his autobiography.

-I choose not to think about that. Exo, as they are currently, is 9. That is the official count. That's what counts for me.

Stuck with EXO throughout the struggles? of course, he benefited from them!

And no its not a coincidence they left..anyone without loyalty would jump at the chance to do better for themselves solely. They would simply rather be selfish and have more for themselves than share with others..its simple. theyre all adults t the end of the day so its not inconceivable. not respectable either.

So stop with the tales of SM torture.. They were tempted with greed.

It's a possibility that Lay and SM are planning his exit from EXO quietly without any parts being affected. Honestly, you can tell Lay is very involved with his Chinese activities and fans way more than he ever was on EXO. This has nothing to do with him having issues with the other members but realistically speaking. EXO-L in Korea are not very welcoming with him anymore. He was never the most popular in that country either and EXO M is about to fade away completely. It's probably better for him to go back to China and become a solo there and make music for others as well.
