(L to R: Shannon, Aundrea, Aubrey, Dawn)

Danity Kane is an American girl group that was formed on the third installment of MTV's Making the Band reality television series in 2005. They were soon signed to Bad Boy Records by Diddy. The group was originally a quintet comprising members Aubrey O'Day, Wanita "D. Woods" Woodgett, Shannon Bex, Dawn Richard and Aundrea Fimbres.

Danity Kane's self-titled debut studio album was released in 2006 and achieved success in the United States, shipping a million copies domestically, while spawning two singles with top 10 single "Show Stopper" and the ballad "Ride for You". Their second studio album, Welcome to the Dollhouse, was released in 2008, following the release of their second top 10 single "Damaged". The band became the first female group in Billboard history to debut their first two albums at the top of the charts.

Despite initial success, tension in the group led to a meeting with Diddy where, in the October 2008 finale episode of Making the Band 4, he removed O'Day and Woodgett from the group. The three remaining members of the group carried on with already scheduled promotional events before officially disbanding in early 2009. All group members were ultimately released from their contracts with Bad Boy Records later within the year. In 2013, four of the five group members (O'Day, Bex, Richard and Fimbres) reunited, and made an official announcement with regard to their reunion at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

D. Woods said she's busy with many other projects at the moment, but supports the group and the members themselves said she has a way of finding her way back.

The quartet will be releasing their new single "Rage" sometime in 2013.

How could you forget to include this in the OP

hehe that was one song that I was never crazy about. I prefer Poetry and One shot. But I'll add it to the Op since it was the debut.

Unrelated to that, I really like their harmonies.Hope to see some HD vids with their comeback.I need some American singers to stan.

OMG I didn't realize how old they are now!

I din't know that Aubrey is the maknae of the group but Shannon is still my favorite

I was surprised too. I knew at least one of them was in her 30's, didn't know pretty much all them. And it's funny calling Aubrey the maknae.

Aundrea remains my fave though.

One Shot ♥ Right Now ♥ Take It Further (that song's unreleased iirc)

Damaged ♥ Bad Girl ♥ Strip Tease ♥ Sucka 4 Love ♥ Lights Out ♥ Is Anybody Listening

And here I thought I heard their entire discography.

I don't know what they new album is going to sound like. It probably doesn't have as many people working on it as the last two. Hopefully it can debut on #1 like the others.

Their harmonies were always on point. It's crazy how well their voices blended together.

To compare them with k-pop groups (since this is a k-pop forum after all), I think Danity Kane is much stronger than the average Korean girl group since each member can hold their own as a vocalist. Their choreos weren't intense but still at the very least on par with K-girl groups while maintaining superior live singing. Moreover, DK's stage presence and charisma are in another league. On the flipside, DK didn't have the pre-debut training process that Korean idols get where all the members form bonds with each other that can keep the group together when the going gets rough. The DK members even admitted that lack of a personal foundation partly caused some of the tension fueling their initial breakup.

Regardless, it's just good to see them back together again. I've been waiting for this for a long time.

Yeah I gotta agree. I stanned DK before I got into Kpop, and I think one reason I got into kpop was because I missed having a group to follow.

Something I like is that every member can hold her own. Some are better than others. I'd say it's Aundrea>Dawn>then either Aubrey/Shannon. i used to think Aubrey was the worst, but perhaps not. It's also something I liked about them over others like PCD. It's great that ll of them sang.

You're very right on the charisma though, they worked the stage when they were on.

Being put together out of necessity instead of desire put some strain in the group, that's true. I think Diddy had some to do with it too. Perhaps now that they are older and chose to come back themselves, things will be better. Reading their twitter and instagrams, they all seem very cheerful and much happier than before.

I can't wait anymore for the new single.

I know :(

Rage, it's made by the folks who made "Damaged" so I hope it's good.

Enters on this.

My list would have been different but I saw it was about vocals so nevermind. Aubrey was one of the stronger singers before, but she started falling off. She is better now though. I want to hear what Aundrea sounds like, has she improved or not?

Danity Kane went through what I assume was the same process as most K pop trainees. A group of girls are chosen and then put through some form of training to figure out who are the ones that will make it in th group (that is kind of what MTB3 was although competition was involved). Then a group was chosen, and after that more training (their vocal lessons, dance lessons just to get the in sync). Their "training" was more public and also involved press tours to get their name out even before they officially debuted with Showstopper.

K pop acts are put together not by choice of the members but by the company, they may end up in a group with their friends, but that might not happen. The biggest difference is that trainees are given more time before their debut to train together, and it is not public. We assume that they like each other and their bonds are the tightest thing ever. But that may not be the case. K Pop makes sure the facade is on strong and thick. Danity Kane from rise and fall was televised and we got to see the drama and all that (well except for internal problems, I don't think anyone at the time knew something that big was wrong because the girls put on a good enough facade themselves).

Diddy is a bad business man period. Look at his repertoire with acts under Bad Boy. Everyone one of them have either left or fallen off big time. He makes/finds good acts, but then after awhile he just loses interest. He is the YG of the US music scene.

I haven't heard Aundrea since her Danity Kane days, so not sure how any of them sound today. Ideally they sound better, but who knows.

I never saw MTB, but it seems similar to what WIN is now. I got into DK with Damaged and became a fan of their music. Part of me wants to watch MTB, but the other part of me wants to avoid it. I kind of want to avoid seeing any drama. The PCD drama was happening around then too, so I thought they were undergoing a similar thing of not having equal spotlight. It basically does show the trainee process, but this one is much more publicized. I think that led to some of the tribulations within the group. The girls are different now than they were back then, (i remember a reporter asking them if Diddy would work on the album and they were like "Who's that?"), and I think they're happy to be done with that period of training, like lots of idols probably are. They seem more relaxed, seeing friends and family and enjoying the journey.

Diddy reminds me of a mix of YG and JYP. Can find great talent, start them off well, but then screws them over.

Well if it makes you feel better about MTB, the official members don't have drama with each other in the show.

Danity Kane Performing ‘Rage’ At iHeartRadio Music Festival? Girl Group Readies For First Live Performance In Five Years

When the ladies of Danity Kane officially announced their reunion at the MTV Video Music Awards show last month, many were disappointed that DK’s brief appearance didn’t include at least a few fluid harmonies from the once-defunct girl group. But for those eager to see Aubrey O’Day, Aundrea Fimbres, Dawn Richard and Shannon Bex hit the stage again, the wait will soon be over.

Although the group’s set for the show Saturday hasn’t been revealed, it has been heavily hinted it will be performing the new single “Rage.†During an interview with MTV on the VMAs red carpet recapped byIdolator.com, Richard described DK’s new music as a major departure from the group’s previous sound. “It’s a better sound for us. It’s a live sound,†Richard said. “Danity Kane with live guitar, live drums [and] more of a rock vibe. People will be pleasantly surprised at how we’re coming.†That’s an understatement.

But the good news doesn’t appear to stop with the girls’ return to the stage. According to the DK Twitter account, Saturday’s appearance will include an additional “little something to share.†It may be confirmation of a rumored reality-television show -- or, even better, the revelation of an album release date. But no matter what the news turns out to be, the ladies of Danity Kane appear to be prepping one immaculately fierce show for Saturday!

Omg!! I'm so excited!! Maybe it'll be the MV release tomorrow too!

I'm hoping for a decent fan cam at least. Typically in America the single gets released before the MV, and typically has a lyric vid before.

I don't even know what company they are under now, so not sure now things will be done.

With a more live and rock sound I wonder what it's gonna sound like. I just am happy to have them back as long as it doesn't sound like show stopper.

Two very short clips of them at the iHeartMusic Festival today. They did a small acapella of Damaged.

Glad they still sound good. Wonder who will sing D. Wood's parts now.

On another note, I remember I would play Elder Scrolls Oblivion all the time back when I was listening to their stuff, so I associate DK with the whole TES series. Haha it's kind of weird, but i like it.

Danity Kane were amazing.

Welcome To The Dollhouse is still an amazing album. I love every song. Aundrea is my fave! Then Aubrey and Dawn.

Good taste lol

So they didn't perform their new song?

Nope. Seems like all they did was come on stage, sing that acapella for like 30 seconds, introduce the Wanted, then left.
