Why 2014 didn't suck k-music wise

Mostly non-promoted tracks or just singles.

1. Paloalto - Cold
Cheers EP is worthy of a whole listen

2. Just music - Gossip
Home to vasco, genius nochang (producer, the name speaks truth btw), black nut, Girl boy, Cjamm and Swings .... yea. So do give Ripple effect the album a listen.

3.Loco - Growing up

4. Crush - Fancy you
He's been performing fancy you and had a shorter version of it on soundcloud before he got signed and debuted. .. it still is one of his best jams. Also, the album it was added in was the best rnb album, sorry taeyang and/or jay park i guess.

5. f(x) - Paper heart and Butterfly
Both marking the most listenable and coherent tracks on the album. Paper heart's instrumental and the little bridge adlib are the attractive points. Whilst, Butterfly strikes me as the opening song to a Japanese crime/detective series.

6. Ha:felt - Peter pan and Nothing lasts forever.
Peter pan is nice guitar ridden listen and Nothing last forever asserts that the bullshit about a song being stripped down and "raw" actually holds some truth as it is actually the demo version itself that made it into the album. It is also fair to say that I did feel like the album was more of a mixtape than an EP; because I feel like there was an abuse of sampling going on here or it appears in that way atleast since most of the melodies sounded familiar.

7. Eddy Kim - Manual and 2 years apart
Simple lyrics over simple melodies should not be underestimated. Pleasant listen.

8. Jung Joon Young - Sailboat
Him and Nell represent the only kind of rock I like. His voice is undeniably amazing. I recommend Missed call from the album before. He is underrated music wise tbh.

9. JYJ - Let me see
Might strike basic at first but then they decide to harmonize ... it made the list. The whole album is good though (minus any English on any JYJ track ... ANY)

10. Roy Kim - Far away and Hold on
This is a good album to listen to on a rainy day. Lots of Acoustic treats on "Home". Thank you, the track was also nice.

11. 2AM - Loveskin
Pleasant surprise from a blah group and a blah album. The most appropriate use of a higher pitch I have ever seen. Please learn from this RAIN sir.

12. Epik high - We fight ourselves and Amor Fati
The first sounds nice and I am unconsciously attracted to anything Nell. The album, well, is notoriously good.

13. EXO - Moonlight and Love x3
If you havn't heard exo's albums cause your a childish prick then please do. To be quiet honest they actually manage to do rnb (with a little pop) way better than the self proclaimed master's within the YG kingdom. Whilst, I understand the hesitation with Love x3 (I blame chanyeols rap) ... have you heard the instrumental on that shit.

14. SNSD - Goodbye and Wait a minute
I generally don't like SNSD's songs -I have enough guilty pleasure worthy with f(x)- but I ended up liking these two when I was running through their EP as it came out and while I was cooking something. It was a fun moment ... and they seem to have stuck with me since then. They are fun tracks to play while cooking though ... really.

15. Toy - Always Being Strangers
I like it, I feel like I'm in a romance noir film when I listen to this. Also Yoo hee-yeol needs to release a piano album asap.

16. MC among - Whatever, what could I do, let's run away and (bonus) 0904
The very controversial Mong's album actually had some good tracks HOWEVER, and no one seems to feel this way and hence never mentioned it but the featuring saved this album. It is absolutely why I believe this album fared well. I would have called it a Basic release without those features and to a tiny extent the clever arrangement.

17. Verbal jint (ft. Eddie Kim) - Autumn Smell

18. Beenzino- Jackson Pollack dick
I know some didn't like the up all night EP but it was a project EP that delivered. The most ratchet release of Beenzino ... by his standards.

19. Nell - Perfect  (2013!)
I actually didn't like this album and only ended up taking a liking to this song the most. Please do check out the flawless slip away album and the re-arranged album, let's take a walk.

20. 2ne1 - If I were you
Reminded me -in a good way- of It hurts and In the club. I liked Gotta be you (as an upbeat track) and the acoustic ver, of CBH but that's about it. Give Minzy a solo. Bye.

21. Taeyang - Love you to death
I liked only this song on the album as a whole. ENY was over for me after 2 listens (applies to the rest of the better tracks) and I wanted to love stay with me buuut GD botched that. Can YG release Taeyang from his damn musical chains. Im curious as to what will happen.

22. Jaejoong - Makeup
This was in his re-package of WWW. The most striking feature is the way he sings in this, it sounds like he is highly influenced by Trot or Pansori techniques, I don't know if that carries some truth but it definitely is the only way I could explain it. Paradise is another one on the album I liked.

23. Esna - I, I love you
Amazing vocals -layed on a piano melody- from the girl behind Some (yea), and mamamoo's first two singles (yea) and mad clown's without you. Ailee done right, if i had to go there.

24. Lee hyori - Don't cry
I don't generally like K-OST's because they are the epitome of generic but this is the OST of the year for me. Didn't even watch the drama so I don't know about that shit.

25. Vibe family - Lonely Christmas
The only Christmas release I liked that year. Like overall across genres and languages. Yea.

26. Zion.T - Yanghwa BRDG

The song that re-emerged in 2015 at the top of the melon charts. It talks about Zion.T's father from his POV as a child. It's Zion.T ... I mean it's a no brainer

Last but not least, an honorable mention to Kim Dong Ryul - Today. And before you begin to run from the name or start itching from the idea of a Korean ballad, this may actually be the most beautiful song I have heard. The song is stunning, it gives you the feels basically.

I'm usually not a fan of the music from jyp idols but Ha:felt's album was really good. Amor fati was the best song in an already great album and If I were you is at the top of my favorite 2ne1's songs.

Nell's Escaping Gravity was in 2013, wasn't it? Newton's Apple was release in 2014

Your right It is, Ill amend it.

Honestly, Newton Apple is absolutely my least favorite album by them that I choose to skip right out of their discography. Specially because I literally can listen to the rest of their albums from track A to Z.

I agree with most of the top 10 but where's Zion. T's Yanghwa Bridge? It saved k-music for me in 2014

Uhh yes! Ill add it.

I missed AKMU's Melted on that list, but I agree with most of it.

"Love you to death" is indeed the best track from Rise, as is "Amor fati" in Shoebox. But Creation and Dear J stood out for me more in Just Us.

Red Light, Just Us, Shoebox.. All great albums.
