A while back I posted about my fear of death... This quote put everything into perspective...

"We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Sahara. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively exceeds the set of actual people. In the teeth of those stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here. We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state from which the vast majority have never stirred?"

- Sir Richard Dawkins

I don't entirely agree with the sentiments expressed in this quote. However, it has made me appreciate that I have at least existed. Although it has been an unremarkable existence... I still existed.  So therefore, I at least have the privilege of dying.

I don't know.. Just thought I would share it because, in the previous thread I made, so many people were fearful of death.

Death ain't nothing but a heart beat away~Coolio

The inevitable is that we all die. To be afraid of death is normal, but to let that fear consume you is too much. You have to enjoy the life you have now, make the best of it. You should be afraid if when you die, whatever you did in life wasn't worthy of remembering.  :rlytearpls:

It's a great quote, but the thought of dying scares me a lot. Just imagine the moment that our consciousness vanishes and we can never "think" ever again. It's probably the scariest thought ever for me.
