Youtubers make HOW MUCH?!?

Entertaining,

I've already had this debate.

The quality of material on youtube is far, FAR inferior in quality and polish to what is found on broadcast or cable tv. The only strength of youtube channel content is their ability to fill the entertainment needs of niche audiences- the quality or thoughtfulness of the produced videos being unimportant.

Did I ever say it was?

Pewdiepie made 12millon dollars last year.  :rlytearpls:

Are you serious??????

I need to jump onto this youtube stuff because I want to graduate college without thousands of dollars of debt.  :rlytearpls:

Although just  a guess, it seems like a lot of the really popular ones are beauty gurus, comedians, or serious gamers, all of which I am not.

 Reality TV is still a thing. There are some really smart and well-made shows on Youtube.

He dropped college to be a yt star. He sold hotdogs and worked at a harbour( i don'tknow what he did there) to buy his equipment because his parents didn't support him. I'm glad it paid off in the end.

Really? Is he losing fame?

I think so. His view nowadays for each vid goes to around 4m, unless he puts clickbait titles. Some gaming channels are gaining popularity too like Jacksepticeye. But still, none can come close to his 39m subscribers. Pewds also has a more dedicated fanbase which is called Broarmy  that can get him 1m views just hours after upload.

39 is crazy. And even having a fanbase.. gosh.

care to link to some of the better youtube shows? i'm interested in checking the stuff out.

It depends on what you want to watch. I watch a lot of gaming-related content.

Personally, I'm a fan of CinemaSins, League of Supercritics, The Game Theorists/The Film Theorists, PBS Idea Channel (most of the PBS Channels have really good content), VSauce (all of them) WatchMojo, although that's mostly just to get angry and disagree with them more than anything (they're a time-killer).

That's just how it is. Youtube has become a big platform, and these people pull in millions of viewers (But then you learn about companies like Jump Cut Studios and how a lot of these popular vids only got good footing because of artificial views). Things like Ad revenue are becoming the big money makers.
