I don't see SNSD getting #1 at all. I never did. I think if EXILE sold another 20k this week of this single, which has one of the weirdest trajectories I've ever seen, then I think they'll have #1 for sure. But then again that AKB girl could have some random shit going on so who knows?

flop

Nah, it'll most likely be just as consistent, if not more, than their previous single. About 20k on opening day is a good result in this day. If you don't count EXILE, who just randomly popped up for some reason, they're not that far away from #1 daily. Remember that Acchan is one of the most popular idols in Japan.

EXILE will win it unless Acchan has events, but their song isn't released this week. SNSD will probably get #2 from the singles released this week, but they might even get #1.

Umm, it doesn't matter if it was released this week or not...

I wonder how much SNSD would sell if they promoted. Fucking SM.

Tell me, what is SNSD doing right now instead of being in Japan promoting their single like any normal act would?

EXILE will continue to sell some more so they are gonna finish at #1 this week, not unless Aachan will do multiple events like how AKB are doing.

SNSD would probably end at #3-4 by the end of the week. They have a DVD/Blu-ray released at the same time today so that probably divided the sales.

SNSD doesn't do any type of idol gimmicks though like ticket raffles, hi-5 or any fan events tied-in to the single/album they are promoting. The only time they had a fanmeet was for Oh! and that was only once.

Edit: I don't have an idea why I get negged for saying this lol.

Not to their charting, but EXILE's sales are really weird. It's probably better to compare them to the songs that were actually released this week. It's not like EXILE have been selling 80k singles/day. Those sales could've just as well come last week, or next.

I have no idea why EXILE's single, which is almost half a year old, sold that much.

It is the ultimate proof that the CD-single chart on Oricon is irrelevant.

"EXILE PRIDE" has now sold approximately 30,000 legit copies.

But on Oricon, it's now listed with almost 900,000 copies "sold".

A copy of that single was included for free with every fanclub ticket sold to EXILE's 2013 tour, EXILE PRIDE, which initially was something like 16 Dome concerts. They have kept adding more dates (I don't know exactly, but I'd figure it's about 25 Dome concerts by now) and they have kept including a copy of the CD single with every FC ticket sold.

Oricon keeps counting these as "sold" CDs, so it's almost 900,000 copies "sold" of that single according to Oricon. (lol)

(and no really, this isn't any different to how Oricon keeps counting all the XXX48 CDs that are given away for free when people buy handshake tickets)

I'm not even talking about idol gimmicks. I don't listen to idols and the acts I like still promote. Music shows, interviews, tv specials...

No, I'm going by the chart. Oricon's not going to exclude EXILE's single because it didn't come out this week. Let's not sugarcoat this thing.

Really, you think only 30k people would buy EXILE's single without the tour? This is probably the funniest thing I've read in a while.

And if this chart is so irrelevant, why do you check it so closely?

That's actually hilarious

But why'd such an old band like EXILE do that? If they can have more than 15 dome concerts they should be able to sell singles easily without that kind of promotion.

25 dome performances... insane.

SNSD are Koreans, and a girl group, and in order for them to sell well they have to do idol gimmick like what other kpop (as well as jpop) idols are doing.

They were at the Samantha Thavasa store earlier today to promote the jeans.

I haven't heard anything about performances. They went to some event today for those ugly jeans they're endorsing though.

oh

Well I actually think they're going to be paid much, much more for advertising the jeans than from the single sales anyway.
