Hi! May I ask, has anyone done a up to date list of Blackpink and BTS of all the members new upgrades?

 

I went back 100 pages and the only new update is the hairline for Yoongi and Tae? I wanted to make a list of all each groups surgeries on the odds I one day win the lotto and get some of them done lol

I haven't followed BTS in years so this is what I remember from reading through the thread and old discussions about them, and one of my friends being a fan of them and often sends me photos:

RM: nose job (2x). some people say he's done something to his jaw.

Suga: jaw shave (before Fake Love) + chin implant (he used to have a short and blunt jaw), nose job, eyes, lip fillers, hair-line.

Jin: eyes (?). somewhere in the thread someone said he has alarplasty scars (?). lip fillers.

J-Hope: the OG Hybe ski-slope nose job (2x, the second one was just before Blood Sweat and Tears, he has a septum scar), alarplasty, double eyelid surgery (he has the scars). i think he gets fillers in his cheeks and he did something to his forehead.

Jimin: epicanthoplasty, tip-plasty and alarplasty (scars visible), lip fillers. i think the change in his jaw is a chin implant.

V: eyes, nose job + alarplasty (he has a scar on his septum), lip fillers, forehead reduction, hairline, fillers in his chin and mandible area to make them more defined.

Jungkook: nose job (2x...? he had a predebut nose job, and then it changed again. i think he messes with the tip area a lot), eyes (deepened the eyelids - he has the scars - + epicanthoplasty), lip fillers.

Hey guys, a couple days ago somebody said that compiling photos from every year to see how much an idol changed over the years instead of comparing their pre-debut looks to their current looks is much more helpful, and I agree.

 

I’ve been meaning to make a post like this regarding Doyoung for a while a now, and I finally got around to it. Pretty much everything in this post has been said before, but I thought it would be nice to have some kind of master post, since the individual posts are pretty spread out over the years. Pics are in the spoilers because this is going to be media heavy!

 

First off, pre-debut, or rather, pre-SM:

He’s only around 12/13 in the first pic, but I think it shows his natural face shape quite well. I often say it’s square, but it’s really more of a rectangle. He’s always had a bit of a long face.

Can’t date these pics for sure, but they seem to be taken somewhere around middle to high school:

These are more definitely high school, he should’ve been around 16-17 in these pictures:

His jaw connects properly to his ear! The pic is very bright but it’s obvious his mandible angle is still there.

This pic shows really well how he used to have a much more prominent mandible angle. He’s not angling his head weirdly or anything so that it looks more pronounced, it’s just naturally that way. The nose is a bit curved with a downward pointing tip.

 

One thing I’ve noticed is that in some pictures his nose bridge looks pretty straight, but in others it appears crooked, almost like he broke it once? He may have fixed his nose once before becoming a trainee. It’s not unheard of that kids who aim to enter the entertainment industry sometimes get work done very young to improve their chances of getting noticed by talent scouts. I cannot tell for sure though.

Next up, SM Rookies! In November 2013, Doyoung joined SM at age 17. This was either in late 2013 or 2014, most likely pre any jaw work. He looks really good here imo. I’d love to see his side profile though.

In January 2015, Doyoung gets introduced as a new member of SM Rookies, just a couple weeks before his 19th birthday. Here is when we get to see some obvious changes regarding his jaw and eyes:

What's with the long face?

 

 

Absolutely no way this was just weight loss, especially since his pre-SM pics show that he’s always been very slim. His face overall looks extremely elongated. Moreover, his mandible angle is considerably weaker and smoothed out. His eyes also appear bigger, but their shape remains uneven. One eye is slightly larger than the other and the shape differs a bit as well. I think it’s nice that they left it that way. His eyes look laterally longer to me and slightly wider, possibly due to getting his outer corners cut. I am notoriously bad at spotting eye work though, so suggestions and corrections are welcome.

His nose is still slightly curved; it’s not a fully hooked nose imo, I’ve seen someone refer to it as a koala nose before and I think that is surprisingly fitting. Most importantly, his nose tip points downward:

Yes I know he’s smiling here which pulls his nose tip down but there aren’t too many non-blurry pics out there.

In any case, it still retains that shape when his face is relaxed. This pic is from very early 2016, I’d say.

 

2016: Right before debut, his nose straightens out. The tip is now lifted and the bridge completely straight. I personally believe he still had his maybe-original nose when they filmed the MVs for T7S and Without you, you can kinda see it in the behind the scenes. No SS though because those videos are rather low quality. The MVs were filmed in early march and he didn’t have any public appearances until their debut stage a month later. Recovering enough from a nose job to perform on stage in barely a month is possible, but I imagine it isn’t too comfortable to practice while still in recovery. I cannot detect any scars either, which might be an indicator for a closed rhinoplasty, which apparently requires less down time. I’m just speculating here though!

Btw his nose only looks straight in full profile, in semi profile it still looks kinda curved for whatever reason. I also think it’s around this time that his eyes start looking less wide. Whether he got the initial work corrected or just stopped making that deer-in-headlights expression I cannot say.

2018/2019: I’m putting these two years together because I don’t think there are any notable changes other than him getting really skinny towards the end of 2018 and him adopting a slightly more mature image.

In 2020, we actually see some changes again. Throughout the year his face fills out considerably, and starting from November/December he seems to have started dabbling in lip fillers:

He has much more volume in his face now! From the front it almost looks like he didn’t have a jaw shave at all. The profile still gives it away though:

 

 

Regardless, I think it looks much better than before. A bit less like something is obviously missing, despite his jawline still being very soft and connecting almost directly to his ear.

Look at is top lip here, I think that’s when he first got lip fillers (also the illusion of an intact looking jaw lol):

2021: No real changes I think. I cannot tell if he still gets lip fillers, sometimes it looks like it and sometimes not. I think the last time they were obvious was in march.

From a couple days ago:

 

The increased width of his face could very well be natural and due to muscles enlarging (men’s faces often get wider as they get older and the jaw muscles become more prominent), some weight gain or with the help of fillers. It’s impossible for me to tell for sure.

And that’s it! I could post even more pics, or better yet, gifs and videos (some things are more obvious in motion) but I think you get the gist. Please let me know if there’s anything I’ve missed or that you disagree with! I only pointed out the changes I can personally see; I left out fillers and stuff because every idol gets them anyway, and other potential non-surgical procedures. He might have had more done than this, I feel like there are some changes I cannot exactly pinpoint. Some people have mentioned a potential cheekbone reduction before, but I'm not sure if I see it.

Personally, I think he looks really good right now. His initial work (jaw and eyes) was not the best, if I’m being completely honest. I feel like there was very little regard for overall facial harmony so his features appeared almost too big for his tiny face, and his face too tiny compared to his broad shoulders. Whatever touch-ups he’s had though really worked their magic. His face looks much more balanced nowadays, and really only the side profile gives away the weak jaw. I think that whatever he’s been doing lately really works for him and I hope he’s happy with the results!

 

I'm not sure yet if I will do similar posts for other NCT members, this was a lot of work and super time consuming lol.

Thank you for this! Doing a little research, you can reverse eye surgeries through reconstructive surgery for epicanthoplasty and canthoplasty (usually done if the surgery was botched or took too much away) but of course you are unlikely to get exactly the same shape back, especially with epicanthoplasty. With Doyoung though, maybe I'm a bit blind but I can't see a huge difference in the eye shape post-2017? His eyes looked big in some photos in 2016 (especially when his teasers dropped) but not when he was making a more neutral expression:

Another mystery as for the cheekbones, I think his selfies where he looks really egg-shaped are suspect for editing. But sometimes he does look very smooth in the cheek area and sometimes not? I do think he gets a bit of filler in his cheeks to plump his face up a bit more. Even after 5 years, I'm still not a fan of the  jaw shave and I can never not notice how his features look too big for his face (it really disrupted his facial harmony around his mouth area), and I often wonder how it will look in his fifties. Still my favourite voice in NCT (don't ask how much I've replayed his youtube covers).

I've been thinking of doing some of the other NCT members too! But doing Jaehyun took me around an hour lol maybe if there are particular members people are interested in because I also don't want to spam this thread with NCT.

Another idol I'd like to do a deep dive for, that's been talked a lot, is Yeonjun. I was watching old Studio Choom videos and I think he started the post-debut work earlier than Blue Hour promotions (esp the lip fillers, he def slowly increased them and it flew under my radar until he really turned up the volume).

Also @Lolly21 your deep dive on SF9 Youngbin, I can kinda see what you mean. In the beanie pics he had a very defined jawline and chin area (like the skin was tight around the bone there) but now the line of his jaw seems much softer. He looks bloated in the 2018 green hair gifs and then it disappears in the 2019 hat pic and then his jaw looks a bit softer from 2020 onwards? Idk if it's just weight gain or something else.

Yes, exactly.

I tried to pick as many "unedited" or "press-released" pictures as possible, although there are some official ones from their company, FNC.

Something may have been done to his jaw or face. But the ironic things is that when I see pictures that seem to not be as edited, like the last one on my post, his face looks the same...

Like, sometimes his jaw looks rounder and in other times it looks a bit more square-ish.

I know I posted a lot of different angles but it's still confusing, lol.

aight so im an avid asmr viewer and one day this girl's vid came up on my recommended and yall-

i just about yelled thinking karina opened up a youtube channel...

like she literally looks like what sm tried to copy or if this girl went to the clinic with a pic of karina. like i always hear you guys saynig karina looks so uncanney/like an ai/hard to look at but ive never had those thoughts when looking at karina nor her jaw. BUT THIS GIRL. esp in this thumbial and video SHE seemed so unreal to me. this girl made me realize what yall have been feeling when you say karina looks unreal or like cgi. like wow i literally got chills watching her in motion she looks so alien like (in the most respectful way tho, i think she is gorgeous).

 

and according to her channel, she is based in the netherlands o.o that was super interesting to me bc she hasnt spoken in any of her videos so i assumed maybe she was from some east asian country (i assumed south korea if im honest) and didnt speak english well. but yeah, wow, i wonder what the asian demographics are in the netherlands. i know very little about the country

As you said, her jaw does seem sus. It's the perfect egg shape her face has that's throwing me off the most, and her inner corners look a bit too opened up to me.

I feel like when some idols who were known for being cutely young and "chubby" lose an obvious amount of weight, a lot of their transformations gets overlooked. She was quite skinny already, how can she change this much??? Umji is another who comes to my mind. 

i think it changed from single eyelid to more like a hidden fold. you can't see it when she's looking up but other than that time there's a obvious crease(1). so she has done something, but can't immediately say that it's surgery because she naturally has thin eyelids that are easy to change to double eyelids. plus i found pics of her using glue and tape(2). i don't know about other stuff but i can say that her eyes are more open now due to the crease hiding the eyelid skin and gives out a clearer look. so natural and a perfect glow up♡  other ways to make your eyes look bigger are cutting the corners or getting upper or lower blepharoplasty.

Another mystery as for the cheekbones, I think his selfies where he looks really egg-shaped are suspect for editing. But sometimes he does look very smooth in the cheek area and sometimes not? I do think he gets a bit of filler in his cheeks to plump his face up a bit more. Even after 5 years, I'm still not a fan of the  jaw shave and I can never not notice how his features look too big for his face (it really disrupted his facial harmony around his mouth area), and I often wonder how it will look in his fifties. Still my favourite voice in NCT (don't ask how much I've replayed his youtube covers).

His eye shape looks largely the same to me too, but I do think people who commented on his eyes looking less open nowadays do have a point. Genuinely cannot tell if he got them fixed once more or if something else about his face changed which in turn made his eyes look more proportional to the rest of his features. Either way I think his eye shape is gorgeous and super striking.

I think I only saw a potential cheekbone reduction being mentioned like twice in the history of this thread, but I don't really see it either. Then again, cheekbone shaves tend to have rather subtle results and I'm not overly familiar with the procedure so who knows. His selfies are rather misleading in that regard, he knows his angles and almost exclusively takes selfies from an above angle and/ or lowers his chin to make his face appear even smaller and slimmer.

I'd say jaw, eyes, lip fillers for sure. With her nose it's hard to say because she's wearing alot of contour in the video, and of course no before pics. Brow lift and aegyo sal filler are also possibilities.

I'm here for the Arin double eyelid discussion! I don't know if she's had other procedures to widen the eyes, but right off the bat I notice the 'hidden' double eyelid. And I wanted to say: don't underestimate the power of a double eyelid, even a hidden one! They can really help the open the eyes and just give them some extra size and dimension. I saw someone on this thread say that's why double eyelid surgeries are so common — they're subtle, but giving your eyes that eyelid just helps a lot.

I'll highlight this example with some photos of my friend (with her permission):

Right off the bat you can see that the right eye just.. looks bigger and rounder (idk the exact terminology but you get my point) than the eye with the single eyelid. The eyelashes are also more obvious.

It's a subtle difference, but even with the low quality, you can tell which eye has the eyelid.

I just got reminded it was a thing when I saw Haram from Billlie she has such a perfectly round hairline. (shes the one in the middle) Or maybe they shade it in with makeup for events? It reminds me of the True Beauty webtoon

I don't know if what Suzy did was to her hairline or the forehead itself through forehead augmentation, but she had a much narrower forehead way back (there's a better comparison pic somewhere in this thread but I'm too lazy to search for it):

I'm pretty sure in this case it's just makeup. I've seen a lot of tutorials from professional korean makeup artists who do makeup for kpop idols and they quite often shade in the hairline with idk brown eyeshadow or something. I think it looks pretty bad most of the time, especially here it looks so weird and unnatural
