I have no idea what she did to her face but she at least had botox since she barely can move her face now, and lip fillers

However her Jaw was really suspicious in the 2019 video, she has some signs of a jaw surgery as the skin sagging around that area.

This is a Korean company that creates "padding clothes". Really good examples here of what hip pads look like!

Granted, some of these paddings are kinda huge lol and obvious (just because of the dramatic shape) but it goes to show just how huge, or how natural hip pads can look.

I think it's worth seeing the products because they show really clearly what the "desired" hip shape is. It helps you know what silhouette to look for if you're trying to spot padding on female idols.

It's always so tricky.

On principle we really can't be sure due to confounding factors like weight, water retention, age, and MOST IMPORTANTLY lens length (which I feel like everyone forgets about)

In fact imma post the lens length comparison here again just because I'm bringing it up lol

But on the OTHER hand... some surgeries so totally clear as day that- I think most of us would agree on this- we can pretty much accept as fact even when considering confounding factors

Like Wendy's jaw shave, Yooa's lip fillers, Lisa's nosejob, etc... regardless of whether or not the idols themselves deny it

I think it's best to speak with the degree of certainty you have about something. Like, I think it is better to say "I am 100% certain [idol] had a nosejob" instead of "[idol] definitely had a nosejob"

Although I'm guilty of claiming things as fact sometimes too lol. But ... I think I've mostly done that just for the idols I mentioned above lol

Also last thing I wanna say..... is that some idols/youtubers/celebrities are lowkey filthy liars

Like this is a great example. It's been a few years but I believe Kylie initially claimed that her lips changed due to like some herbal shit or whatever?* When she's THE poster child for lip injections lol

So frankly I do have big suspicions for anyone who says their face changed due to weight change, spicy ramen(?), or facial massages.

 

*I can't find an article of her talking about this, when I search for it there's like 600 articles about her "taking out" her lip fillers in 2018 or whatever. Either way she confirmed in 2015 and 2018 that it was, in fact, a whole bunch of injections

edit: Another thing that adds to my suspicions, is that the person's whose face is at the most difficult angle for editing (Lisa), is the one person here who resembles herself. The other girls are facing the camera directly so editing their faces is a snap.

But it looks like they weren't able to photoshop Lisa so they just desaturated the pic to make her look grey instead.

That's the other thing, these pics are so fucking grey, that's exactly the color editing you'd do to make them look unflattering.

Like this just reeks of malicious editing. Though I won't declare it as fact until I see the original pic (which I can't find)

I think they see it like putting on heavy makeup or something. Or maybe a corset. Idk. Just differences in culture. I don't think it's necessarily common in every day life, I just know they're popular with instagrammers. And kpop idols too, of course.

They also market them for the practical purpose of exercising, like doing side planks so you don't have to put weight on your pelvic bone. Which... I mean... that does sound practical but obviously doesn't seem to be the main purpose lol. But I'm sure it works.

And yeah these little things definitely did a number on my self esteem before I realized that they weren't idols' true bodies. Like Rose? Oh my god. Not to be mopey but damn did I hate myself looking at her pics sometimes lol

So all I can really do it spread information about it so that other fans don't have to feel the way I did

People use things like this in drag and theatre all the time to change their bodies and become someone else, and in that context, it's a pretty natural thing for idols to use as well (since they are also performers) but yeah the issue is that in kpop it's hard to separate the persona from the person, it's hard to separate their idol appearance from the human underneath. So stupid people like me will compare themselves to that dolled-up, dressed-up idol on stage lol but performance arts is always full of smoke and mirrors

She's still a teenager in that first pic, and the second one is from when she was struggling with the worst of her eating disorder- quite underweight. So there's a huge difference in facial fat here, moreso than a normal 8 year comparison. Not to mention the makeup difference is huge.

I guess the issue someone took with them earlier was that fancams are unreliable because they have "too much makeup on to see anything" which I think is ridiculous. Music shows have very consistent lighting and presentation. I'm inclined to think it's mostly an ethnic difference. I don't have any sources to cite there or anything but I feel like it's a difference in how pronounced the brow bone is

I certainly feel like it would be easier to draw eyebrows higher up on a less pronounced brow bone. So if you wanted your brows higher you could just commit to drawing them that way. Like Hyoyeon's eyebrows I think are done that way?

 I think it might also have to do with the way it balances face shapes. Like higher eyebrows work better on longer faces than shorter faces, maybe.

These are both promo shots and there's an age and makeup difference so this isn't really a PS comparison. But even still, the lip fillers really jump out at me. And assuming her jaw wasn't edited down in the first picture, her facial fillers are very apparent too. Like apparent enough that makeup and post-processing doesn't seem to have minimized the difference, if that makes sense

edit: it's probably worth pointing out that she has gotten some tweaks done since she left WJSN (technically "on hiatus" or whatever lol) so what I'm talking about is whatever's recently made her look unrecognizable from Rocket Girls' Xuanyi. Like there's a huge difference in her appearance since her WJSN debut, but only part of it is making her not look like Xuanyi, if that makes sense, and it's more recent.
