am I the only one that thinks dawon doesn't look that bad.

her nose looks fake but I think it looks fine compared to so many nose jobs. Jessica... LE... Serri... Gfriend... so many worse noses out there

 

and Dawon isn't packed with facial fillers either. all of WJSN seems to dabble with them but she's never been as bloated as Hyuna or Seulgi or Chungha

 

not shading any of those idols but I genuinely feel like Dawon's not that bad. I honestly think she gets picked on just because she looks more plastic compared to the other WJSN girls, not because she's actually that extreme

I don't think it's the nose per se, but the whole look she has now compared to the past. T__T She's a '97 but she looks muuuuuch older..

she does look older than she is. I guess I didn't take that into account!

tbh though I feel like that's not entirely due to PS, I think she's got kind of a mature look to begin with (isn't that what she/starship are always trying to "fix"?)

Yeah Dawon always had this mature type of beauty going on for her, and I thought it was interesting to have her in the group because it could have been her thing, but instead her face keeps on being touched in order to... fix it? idk, it's just a bit sad. Like her type of beauty would have fit just right in in a group like Sistar, because girl has THAT body, and her face would have meshed well with all other girls!

OMG you are so right about her fitting into a group like Sistar. that is so a accurate.

 

Here's a video of her covering almost the entirety of Shake It by Sistar. She's a vocal and visual knockout with this concept!

 

 

actually makes me kinda sad that she can't really do these concepts in WJSN.

they do look different, but there's such a difference in makeup style that it's hard to tell if the eye itself has changed. it could be only a difference in makeup, or maybe new makeup to suit a new eye shape

 

twice's makeup artists are too good and I can't distinguish the cause of the difference lol

 

edit: looking again, I noticed you compared more candid/talking shots in the "before" and more shots where she's looking into the camera in the "after"

 

like sana, she widens her eyes to be cute. so that might be the main difference. she's an idol now and is more aware of her facial posture, I think.

how is that look achieved with fillers? just out of curiosity. since fillers almost always have a look of having something added rather than subtracted.

well they didn't have much of a pronounced jaw from the beginning tho. the fillers creates that. the square jaw is the after pic, since western standards consider that more beautiful for women, but i think OP's hinting male kpop idols might utilise it for the same effect and that's definitely a possibility.

 

but fillers emulate fat, not bone. the defined jaw comes from the bone poking out of the skin, basically. I don't understand how adding fillers could cause the bone to show more?

 

it seems way more likely that fat was removed from the jawline instead.

Hyuna's going to age like Jessica. correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think either have continued to get fillers or surgery after leaving their companies.

 

Jessica's case makes me sad... she was perfect. she was like a doll. but at some point her face started eeloooongatinggg. I think it's because of all the surgeries.

 

Hyuna's going to be fine with her face though, I think. she seems to be over it with the conventional beauty standards.

Naw, Jessica's original face was alot longer than her porcelain doll face; ever since 08' it started getting smaller and smaller. It was her chin that she got done, along with some of her jaw since that had to change in the process. IMO she resembled Krystal more when she had her original chin and jaw.

Lia does have a bit of an uncanny plastic look... but like people are saying, it's only obvious when she smiles. You have to admit it's nice work otherwise, it enhances her natural features

I found Soojin really charming and pretty during (G)I-DLE debut but nowadays her whole face really changed and idk if that's styling or surgery but something isn't right.

When I watched Senorita I kept thinking she looked like she had a lot of fillers in her face, but I told myself that I shouldn't make that judgement because I might just be forgetting what Soojin looks like

we'll find out pretty soon. If it's fillers they will settle and she will honestly probably look really good

explaining anything reasonable to stay twitter is impossible. like you said, if he did do anything it was pretty minor, and its not like it looks bad at all, just a subtle change.

 

 

a lot of stays have complexes against plastic surgery, they just wont admit it. its so annoying

Also I like Eunha shes beautiful. But has anyone ever noticed the lines on her eyelid? I find it so interesting and distracting for some reason lol. I know she had eye surgery but I wonder what makes it look like that exactly...

you mean the crease? the extremely defined crease is almost always a result of eyelid surgery. it's because the skin is stitched together in a permanent fold, I believe.

 

personally I find her inner corner cuts to be the most distracting... if I'm being honest, it looks disgusting. not Eunha herself of course. but just the eyelid cuts in particular. it looks like a wound to me :(

 

Umji I have no idea. if she did do something to her nose, it looks great. I suppose she's kind of in the same boat as Jihyo. it's easy to attribute her legendary transformation to weight loss but like someone said a few pages ago- you can't lose weight in your nose. in fact, weight loss usually makes your nose look slightly bigger because the face around it shrinks.

I suppose i'm in the minority because I don't think Mimi's lip fillers look great lol. they don't look BAD but she was prettier to me before them.

I like the way Somyi's look a lot better- it's just that they're jarring to me because I stan her and am so used to seeing her without them.

 

again, she has kind of an uncommon lip/mouth shape and i think people who aren't used to looking at her might be attributing that to the fillers. but the fillers only changed her lip thickness.

but yeah out of everyone mentioned, mimi's looks best. yooa's looked good initially but i think she got too much now. eunchae and somyi's are too much, i dont know why they got that much...anyways it's interesting to see considering large lips have never been considered all that desirable as a korean beauty standard.

 

 
with the advent of widely accessible internet though, traditional beauty standards are getting tossed aside.
 
in the US, blonde hair blue eyes thin girls were the ideal for decades, but now beauty standards echo features that are common in a completely different demographic- bronze skin, and thick lips, very large hips and butts (much more common in latina and black girls) and cat eyes (maybe more common in Asian girls?) because "beauty" in media is much less homogenized now.
 
the same thing is happening in Korea I think, but in a less extreme way maybe. probably because a good deal of the korean population (especially those who work in the entertainment industry) are exposed to the sex appeal and appreciation of thick lips in foreign and are now kind of like "oh shit, that actually looks really good"

edit: it's also allegedly biologically appealing to men because thick lips resemble... vagina lips... moreso than thin lips. lol. that sounds really really ridiculous but it's supposed to be a subconscious mechanism. not that men actually see thick lips are are like "mm vagina!" but more like a primal part of their brain is like "hey this reminds me of sex, which is a thing i want to do, so i like this"

 

that's just a theory of course lol

but that would make it pretty natural for thick lips to be considered desirable anywhere in the world and therefore a unsurprising progression of beauty standards

 

 

 
ORRRRR maybe it's just a passing trend in Korean beauty who knows. but I think the sharing of images across the internet has a big deal to do with it.

i wish there was more information available on them. they seem to be super popular with female idols. I suspect WJSN uses them a lot since they all have really skinny legs- it's their natural body type for some (like luda or dayoung) but on others, they seem disproportionately thin

I don't think Luna's neck was photoshopped. it always looks weird these days. If there's a procedure that sucks the fat out from under your neck/chin then i'm preeeeetty sure she got that done.

anyway today I was watching a video of her and it seems that she looks worst when her mouth is hanging open. it seems like she's having a hard time breathing through her nose. probably as a result of surgery. when her jaw is closed she loses some of that uncanny softness in the lower half of her face.

between the rejected jaw implant and two jaw shaves, it kind of explains why her face looks so shapeless and uncomfortable these days.

 

she got all that done when she was underweight or very close to it. now that she's gained a good bit of weight in her face, it looks like she doesn't have a jaw at all.

(edit: to clarify: since she's lacking bone definition, the fat in her face kind of "hangs" instead of sitting over her jawline like it normally would)

 

Makes you wonder if that fear of weight gain in her face made her want to use a stimulant drug to keep the weight off. I can say from personal experience that it's effective.
