I have a question. I know people speculate that Yunjin had her cheekbones shaved down (I do too!) but wouldn't that cause sagging/excess skin? In selfies and press photos and videos, Her face looks very puffy and tight... shouldnt the opposite be happening?

Yunjin is very young so it's likely that her skin is still super elastic and that it bounced back very quickly. And I'm sure plastic surgeon do offer treatments to help tighten your skin faster after that kind of procedures.

Skin usually adjusts on its own if you give it time (especially at that age).

I hope this is mostly makeup/editing because who is this woman? She's unrecognisable...

It’s so dangerous that cosmetic enhancements  become trends, because when these procedures become trendy they also become normalised and create an enviroment of social pressure go get these things done as well because everyone is doing them. We saw that with lip fillers and we are increasingly seeing that with Buccal fat removal. Only lip fillers seem to have less negative consequences than Buccal fat removal.

This will have the effect you talked about where average middle class people are stuck with gaunt looking faces, that need to be maintained by filler, which expensive especially longterm, to look normal again while the celebs that made it popular have no monitary issues with affording the procedures to mainting their trendy look.

yeah that's the thing that troubles me the most.

Like i think that PS is fine if there's something about your appearence that bothers you or if you're truly committed to achieving a specific look (as long as it's safe) but treating it like a trend is insane.

It's still a type of surgery and it can have complications and in most cases it's irreversible (or at least it's very hard and very expensive to fix) and yet some people are starting to treat it like it's the same thing as impulse buying an expensive bag.

Meanwhile I've spent the past five year considering a lip lift because what if I don't like theway I look after the surgery? And if it goes wrong, then what? Also the surgery is the price of  a month's wage so like is it really worth it?

damn what's with these veteran idols getting new operations after years of basically no changes and not even just the supposed "anti-aging" stuff you'd expect...before I feel like fans mainly had to worry about trainees or rookies coming back with new faces but now it's anyone. You'd think these celebs after all these years of being famous would know for every bad comment there's a thousand people who find their features attractive as is. I don't remember ever seeing a single comment about Tiffany's nose until she changed it. Apart from a small nose job years ago Onew has barely touched his face throughout his entire career and was praised for having a boy next door/babyfaced/actor look and was one of the most popular among korean women until his scandal so clearly his face was never an issue until now... Whatever he did just made him look older and more 'idol-like' both of which are the exact opposite of what made his visuals popular.

It's been said before but in previous gens I feel plastic surgery was mostly to correct obvious features the went against the k-beauty standard monolids = get double eyelids (unless you're a man then maybe you can keep them), flat and wide nose = make it sharper, square jaw = shave it. It was still terrible but made sense now it feels like updates just for the sake of updates...

My guess is that it comes a point in a veteran idol career where they find themselves wondering how they are going to compete with a brand new batch of idols who are half their age and whose visuals match up with what's trendy. And to "upgrade" their looks might be a solution.

as someone who did develop pretty pronounced hips in high school, so i have some understanding of going from hipless to hipfull lol, i dont think it works the way yuna fans are speculating 😭 it was very gradual, something i didnt realize until i compared my freshman to senior years, and i would say the process actually started more when i was in middle school. yuna developed prominent hips pretty drastically in my opinion, and this change occurred at an older age than when it happened to me. plus i had like,,, i guess a base figure for developing prominent hips? like my body is angled in such a way that my body type was clearly going to be more pearish, while she didnt really have those signifying angles? and for me it was really 1/2 my actual hip bones, and 1/2 my fat redistributing. plus i developed stretch marks from the change. and i think usually peoples hips dont change much during second puberty? idk tho, im not actually educated on the matter in a scientific sense, this is just based on my personal experience. and im not really skinny at all, so i dont know how it would go for someone with very little fat.

anyways, i think yuna is very lovely regardless of her body type, and i hope she has a lot of self love. i do think hip pads should be acknowledged, but it made me sad how much people would shame her for her potential hip pad use, and i worry that it made her feel more insecure. i am the same age as her and it just generally makes me feel sad that she has this much of a spotlight put on her, bc i know it would mess me up if i were in her position

I also have very pronounced hips, and in my case the change was so drastic and fast that I had girls in my middle school asked me what was my secret. In a few months I grew a bit taller, I lost like 10kg and the rest of the fat that I was carrying in my stomach went to my hips/thighs and a bit on the breast (although my figure kept developing for years). It was so weird, because I was always a chubby, apple shaped kid and then suddenly by the time I started high school and I was much thinner and had an hourglass figure?

But all of that happened when I was 14 so I agree that Yuna seems too old for such a change to happen naturally.
