SM really is trying their hardest to make people forget that Jaemin has tan skin. Every single video of him is incredibly filtered. Watching him in the sm rookies video compared to any video now is shocking. If i was a new viewer, i would probably assume he had pale skin.

I think the "completely unrecognizable" thing is definitely subjective. I used to be obsessed with nct during their rookie days (2015-2016) but in the past few years i haven't been keeping up with them. so i was surprised when i saw Jaemin in MAW, he looks so different compared to chewing gum and MFAL (of course, growing up and styling changes could contribute to him looking different). 

It's why I also thought Yuta and Doyoung looks different compared to what I was familiar with.

Thank you for clarifying, I think I know what you mean. For the longest time people were convinced that Dream were all natural or couldn't get work done because of their age, completely disregarding (or maybe just unaware of) the fact some of the older Rookies/127 members actually had quite a bit of stuff done when they were still in their teens. However, since they were exposed to the public at a younger age than the others the surgeries/cosmetic enhacements they did get were rather conservative and could potentially brushed off as "puberty", if you ask me.

MAW styling was not very flattering on him, I'd have to agree. Something about the pasty, washed-out make up and the light contacts paired with the silver hair really made him look unlike himself. He looked much better with the light hair during Boom, the make up was far more natural and let his skin tone shine through, and no colored contacts, thankfully. They rarely ever look good. I really think it was mostly unflattering styling and maybe cosmetic stuff that made him look a bit weird. Comparing those pics during Boom vs. MAW I actually cannot really see any structural changes in his face that would require surgery.

Definitely not a jaw shave, if anything his jaw expanded considerably during his teens. Back when he was 15/16 his smile literally went from ear to ear because his jaw was so slim, it was quite funny.

I think it's because of the lips. Maybe it looks like that because of the editing and angle of the photo, but it looks like he overdid lip fillers?

Editing, clever angling and lens distortion I'd say. I've been keeping up with all their recent content and his lips look the same as always, slightly plush but definitely not this big lol. Promo pics in general are never a good source when trying to spot potential changes as they are heavily edited, especially this set of teasers which has a lot of intentional distortion going on.

Been asking that myself as well. He's always had fairly big eyes actually, but they were quite uneven. He definitely did get his eyelids done, as someone in this thread pointed out before, but I don't think that alone would make his eyes equal in size, right?

He may have only had the corners cut on one eye to even them out. I'm honestly quite terrible at spotting anything related to the eyes though, so take this with a grain of salt. Either way I think his eyes look really pretty, his double eyelids are very well done imo.

 

Also this is unrelated to his eyes, but revisting his predebut pics really shows how beneficial braces were for him omg. I know people like to mourn the loss of his snaggletooth, but his jaw is just so much better aligned now. Really balanced out his face and opened up his smile quite a bit, which used to be rather restrained. I think he only got his braces out very recently after having had them nearly his entire career, but they sure did their work.

I just talked about Renjun a couple of pages ago, but I forgot to mention this one thing. His face shape has been fluctuating quite a bit over the past few months. It was a very abrupt change that started around From Home promotions, I remember seeing him at his radio show looking the way he usually does and then like five days later his face was visibly more oval and smoothed out from the front. Given how abrupt the change was and how it keeps on going back and forth I'd say it's probably botox. I'm not too well versed in cosmetic procedures though, so it might be something else that causes this. I sometimes feel like it changes by the week lol.

These are the best gifs I can find right now. And yeah, it just kinda keeps fluctuating since October. He's also gained some weight, so he looks overall fuller in the face. I personally don't think he looks particularly different in their recent teasers, though. Maybe it's the styling that's throwing you off?

Speaking of uncanny styling/makeup choices, I never really noticed how much makeup they usually wear even outside of performances until watching their recent 7chilling youtube series. They spent pretty much the entire second half of the show barefaced and completely unstyled, hair not done etc. and I thought that was really refreshing but also quite a contrast to the beginning of the show where they are made to look casual and unstyled but are are actually wearing a good amount of makeup. I'd recommend watching it if you want to properly see what they actually look like, all the Dream kids are very naturally handsome and look quite youthful and sweet all barefaced and unstyled lol. I love a good conceptual makeup look and I thought his styling in Ridin' was quite flattering, but seeing them without all that stuff really shows they do not need it at all! SM really picked some good looking kids and I hope any further cosmetic enhacements stay subtle.

I'd say he tweaked both his bridge/nose tip and brought his nostrils in, not sure if in one go or seperately. I highly doubt he touched it more than twice though, like I said above he does wear quite a bit of makeup which kind of makes it seem like his nose fluctuates a lot, but I don't think it really does lol.

Regarding his teeth, he's had braces for a few years. I think he got them out around late 2018/early 2019.

He may be experimenting with fillers, but he's also said in a recent fancall that he's been trying to put on some weight because he wants to build muscle. So it could also be just that.

These are all recent pictures (the first one might be from resonance promos idk actually) and it looks the same as always to me. I've been following  their Hot Sauce promos pretty closely and I really did not notice a difference at all. There's a possibility he's sported fillers during some of his many comebacks before (I'd have to look more closely into that) but this time around I highly doubt it

That's fair lol, they really do photoshop his nose quite a bit in official photos and stuff, even fansites (or maybe especially fansites...) are guilty of this and drives me crazy. It's such a charming nose, that little bump gives it some character and I hope he never gets rid of it!

Not sure if this video has been posted yet, but it's been in my recommendations for a while now and I finally decided to watch it and found it to be very informative:

I especially like the part about the ptosis correction (starting from 4:06). I've heard of it before but I was always unsure about what it actually entails so this was very helpful to me. I feel like ptosis correction is a very common procedure among idols, as it helps make the eye look more open and awake without necessarily creating an obvious double eyelid. We often seem to associate this effect with canthoplasties or bletharoplasties, but some idols (especially male, as the surgeon points out) might have opted for ptosis correction instead.

I know puberty cant suddenly make your nose tip higher, it can only bring it down.

Compared to Doyoung who actually doesn't have a really at all mandible angle, there's a clear difference:

Jaehyun, like the majority of people, has an (almost) right angle that projects beneath his ear. Doyoung's jaw on the other hand just continues straight up to his ear. You can almost be where mandible angle should be and where the bone was removed. They've both had jaw shaves, but Jaehyun's looks so much more natural to me and I think the mandible angle is a big part of that. 

If you're trying to find someone's mandible angle my advice is to find a pick where you can clearly see there jaw bone (sometimes its helpful to find shots where they're looking over their shoulder). Not every jaw shave completely annihilates the mandible angle, especially in a case like Jaehyun's where there was enough jaw to begin with that even after removing enough bone to make his face narrower from the front he still had some mandible angle left over.

I've also noticed that there are some jaw shaves that avoid shaving the mandible angle significantly and instead remove bone mostly from the lower jaw/the sides of the chin like in Karina's case. The result of this is a jaw that's narrower from the front but doesn't look much changed from the side.

Karina's mandible angle was weak to start of with so I wonder if her surgeon decided it would be safer not to mess with it too much.

You know what...after intensively looking at Jaehyun's then and now pics, I've come to the conclusion that he's actually never had much of a strong mandible angle or profile to begin with. His face was really just wide from the front, which I personally think they combatted with some tastefully done chin fillers (this has been mentioned before; he naturally has a blunt chin which also plays a role in making his face appear quite wide) and of course botox, which would overall slim down his face and create a more elongated, v-shaped look. I actually would not be surprised at all if he never had a proper jaw shave to begin with, not even one that only affects the front view. You can find older posts in this thread of people confirming that Jaehyun's look can be achieved without actually reducing the bone, as long as you inject tons of botox into your masseter muscles. The amount of botox must've been crazy though, I found his SMRookies jaw to be such a drastic change in width compared to before. The jaw shave specualtions are certainly not unfounded lol:

 

Meanwhile from the side it appears that his jaw has always been on the slightly weaker side. It's not unplausible at all to me that the width of his face comes from strong masseter muscles rather than a prominent jaw bone. Now of course there's still the problem of the sagging skin he used to have a few years ago - a quick google search told me that while skin sagging after masseter botox due to the lack of support from the msucles can occur, it is quite unlikely for it to happen to such a degree on a young person like Jaehyun. Make of that what you will.

I think the state of his jaw as it is right now suits him. Not as slim as before, but more angular and chiseled, probably because of a mix of letting the jaw muscles build up again, weight loss, and some speculated fat removal procedures. Strong from the front, slightly weaker in profile, though actually not as much as even pre-SM.

These are just my thoughts. Honestly, unless he ever decides to adddress his procedures, his jaw will always remain a mystery to me.

Nothing happened imo, his nose just tends to look like that under harsh stage lights plus heavy stage make up. It looks the same as always in all their recent content.

Pre-debut Doyoung truly had a great bone structure and just an overall very harmonious face imo. I've said this before, but I always felt like his jaw shave threw off his facial balance - his features suddenly appeared to big for his face and his face looked a tad too small in comparison to his torso. Somehow they managed to restore some of that balance but damn, that jaw shave truly was not needed at all.

I've also always wondered if he's had more than one nose job, but I can only with confidence pinpoint one and that was right before his debut with NCT U. His nose bridge has changed quite a bit over the years though...

I do not think there is any foolproof way to spot well done lip fillers, honestly. Especially when the person in question had full lips to begin with, the results will ironically look more natural than for people with naturally thinner lips. I do not think your lips would look filled, most people in fact have slightly protruding lips, even when they are thin. I personally find it easier to spot lip fillers in motion compared to stills (since I was just talking about Doyoung, his lip fillers are the most obvious to me when he does IG or Vlives because his lips look noticeably more pouty when he speaks).

Poorly done lip fillers are a different story of course. I think most people would be able to recognize those.

I heard someone say once that Doyoung looks like he has too many teeth, and I think that it's because cutting away his jaw made his teeth look larger. He also sometime gets some sagging fat under the chin although it's not as bad as Jaehyun's used to be. 

Not just his teeth, his whole mouth looks quite large because of how narrow his face is in comparison. It sometimes looks like it can barely frame his smile, though I'd say this was more of a problem in the past. But when you compare it to his predebut photos, his mouth/smile looked more proportional to the rest of his face imo

Ten lying about his age is definitely not true, he was never listed as a different age. Since he was already known in Thailand before entering SM we've known his age the longest out of all the NCT members. The only one who was rumored to be a different age was Renjun, since we had a hard time uncovering any info at all about him we pretty much had to rely completely on weibo rumors lol. He was most notably rumored to be born in '97, which is quite funny in hindsight cosidering how small he was at debut.

Off the top of my head: nose fillers for his bridge (it's naturally more hooked), possibly alarplasty, his eyes seem more open but I don't think it's double eyelids necessarily, more likely a different procedure to open up the gaze. Not entirely sold on the jaw, but something about his chin definitely changed. I'd say a chin shave but there's also the possibility that he's had an underbite corrected - so I feel like there might both be something medical and cosmetic going on. I don't have pictures right now so I might have missed something.

Former Blady member Tina says that companies get discounts at certain places for the trainees surgery. And that idols normally get touch ups before comebacks. 

 

That part near the end where the guy said "they're constantly evolving" really made me laugh. I mean we KNOW, but to just have it laid out like this...let's just say I chuckled. I doubt idols get full on surgeries every single time they come back, but I'm pretty sure almost everyone goes in for little tweakments (fillers, botox etc.), like they said. Which is why sometimes we only realize how much idols have changed over the years when we go back and watch older videos and stuff. They get things done little by little over the years so it's not immediately noticeable (or when you do notice it's sometimes hard to say what exactly they did), but when you compare pictures and the sum of all their procedures becomes visible it can be quite a revelation.

I've looked up how the procedure is performed before and it seems quite gruesome tbh (worse than jaw shaves in my opinion), however the results are surprisingly subtle and beautiful, especially compared to jaw shaves. Cheekbone shaves might be much more common than I initially realized.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the results on Taeyeon either. It doesn't look bad by any means but it also didn't really do her any favors, in my opinion. I think it actually had the opposite effect and made her look older instead of younger. Some of the results look incredible though, especially Suzy's. The youthful look really compliments her image as well. I think Hani's results look fine as well, but combined with the narrower jaw and pointy chin she likes to sport her face shape comes across as a bit artificial looking.

Now I wonder if there's any male celebrities who've had their cheekbones shaved. It seems to be predominantly female idols and actresses doing it. Might have to do some digging.

I made a post about cheekbone shaving recently and yes, I'm pretty sure Key had this procedure done as well! Some people have actually asked about his cheekbones before but it's been a few years since then so I completely forgot about it, so thank you for bringing it up again lol. If I remember correctly, somebody speculated he got his cheekbones reduced around the same time he got his nose done, but I don't follow him closely enough to tell. 

I agree with what other users have said about him looking fresh and young, I think his work was done really well and he still looks 100% like himself even after some procedures.

Eh I watched the performance and I honestly think the first screenshot/thumbnail is really misleading? His chin looks questionable in the still but in motion he looks more or less the same. Only difference is that his face looks fuller, which I'm positive was only weight before and might still only be weight (ofc he could've gotten stuff like fillers or fat grafts but his body as a whole looks fuller as well.) I also for the life of mine cannot spot lip fillers on this kid lol.

I do think a slimmer face is a more flattering look on him but if it happens to be only weight then good for him, most idols are way too skinny anyways.

Blepharoplasties are actually quite common among western celebrities, especially white women. I currently don't have any pictures at hand but I'd suggest looking for celebrity plastic surgery accounts on Instagram (there are quite a few, not all are reputable but it's best to judge for yourself anyway), or watch some videos by Lori Hill on youtube, she covers quite a few western celebrities and there are definitely a few she suspects of having a blepharoplasty done. She's always respectful in her videos as well and iirc (I haven't watched her videos in quite a while so I might be wrong) might have had the same procedure done herself, so definitely do check her out if you want more info on how the surgery is performed and the recovery.

I know we always joke about the eyes+nose combo being the kpop starter pack, but that combination is actually incredibly common among celebrities everywhere.

I really want to share this video I stumbled upon regarding the side effects of masseter botox injections:

She talks about how she got injections around three times over the span of a year, and while the dosis was rather conservative the frequency of it caused her muscles to completely atrophy at some point, making her face look completely hollowed out (the pics were quite shocking to me ngl). And worse, because her jaw muscles were basically nonexistent after being atrophied for so long her skin started sagging (she talks about it around the 8 minute mark) to the point she had to get skin tightening treatments and had to allow her jaw muscles to build up again over a span of three years.

Watching this video, I feel like her dermatologist did not have the experience needed to inject botox into their client's masseter muscles, considering these types of side effects are extremely rare according to most licensed and experienced doctors. Inexperience can lead to other unwanted side effects as well, such as an uneven smile.

And yes, my mind immediately went to Jaehyun when she got to the skin sagging part. I feel like something similar might have happened to him. Interestingly enough, he's also looked extremely gaunt at times, which I did not know was a side effect of masseter botox.

There have been a few users who have pointed out in the past that Jaehyun's look can be achieved with botox, and I also talked about it here not too long ago. There's this post which I believe was a reference to the post I previously made and the user goes really into depth how him getting jaw implants is rather unlikely, providing pictures and all. It's worth a read and really solidified my opinion that Jaehyun did not get jaw implants but instead allowed his muscles to build back up again.

We as fans of course can only speculate, we are not his doctors and are not entitled to know anything about his procedures. But I personally think masseter muscle botox is far more likely in his case than a jaw shave+implants to reverse the process, given how his jaw evolved over the years.

Stumbled upon this thread and I really wanted to share it here because it highlights some of the dangers that can arise when getting fillers:

Warning: Some graphic photos, nothing too bad (no blood or anything) but if you're bad with these things you might not wanna click on this thread!

Anyway this person went to get a nose filler, but the injector accidentally injected the filler into an artery which blocked the bloodflow, causing the tissue to (almost!) die off. Thankfully she quickly turned to a specialist who managed to save her nose tip from falling off - literally.

Even though fillers are deemed safer than surgeries, every procedure even if "minimally" invasive comes with a risk.

Like in general or recently? Because Doyoung is easily the most discussed member here next to Jaehyun and Yuta. General opinion is that he's had his jaw shaved (in his case I'm positive it's not just botox but an actual reduction), at least one nose job, eyes (outer corners?), and he's sported some lip fillers at the end of last last year/beginning of this year (can't tell if he still gets them). More recently I've also noticed that his face has been looking more filled in, sometimes outright puffy even. This pic is not new, it's about a year old, from resonance era and he looks very obviously filled in around the cheek area:

This was the first time I saw him looking like this. It gives more volume to his face which kind of counteracts the long face his jaw shave gave him, but sometimes like in this pic it looks very obviously "off" imo.

Is it me who thinks Doyoung started to model himself after Jaejoong? He was okay till last year, then Resonance happened and he suddenly started to put overt attention in his looks.

can't say if he's trying to model his looks after anyone lol but yes there was a noticeable shift around the time resonance promos started and he opened his IG account. Previously he had more of a nerdy, cute image but nowadays he's going for a more sexy, mature look? Like he was showing off those lip fillers in damn near every IG update and live lol. He really seems to feel himself lately though, so good for him.
