What do you mean distinct features such as his gummy smile or cat eyes are gone? Did he change them somehow?

A lot of fans don't want their idol to get surgery or enhancement because that would destroy the illusion that the idols are naturally perfect. I bet a lot of them pick it up subconciously but don't actually want to believe it. Plus PS is still pretty stigmatized especially by international fans

god damn I just found a reddit post from 3 YEARS AGO stating that Yoongi lost his gummy smile by BWL era, jesus I never noticed  . I’ve also tried to look for before and after pictures of his eyes but I can’t really see a big difference, anyone got some good pictures?

I‘m not sure why Doja Cat is mad, I watched the video and Lorry never said anything negative towards her, in fact don‘t remember her ever saying anything negative about the way anyone looks. Lorry also always makes clear that what she‘s saying is just her own opinion. She‘s been famous for years and I‘m sure many people have been talking about her body and judging her for years, I wonder what caused this specific video to hit a nerve? I get it, it‘s not nice when many people are speculating about someones body or face but well man that‘s a downside to being famous…

Holy shit I needed a moment to actually recognize Solar even tho it says her name right there. She's giving me Karina-esque vibes somehow? As far as I can see she pumped up on lip fillers and if I'm not mistaken she got an chin implant. Her chin is very pointy now, especially when she smiled you can see that. It could be fillers tho. In my opinion her face looks so full, some fillers, probably in the cheeks. She doesn't look bad but I really liked her more natural look quite a bit more. I'd hope too that it's just editing, we'll have to see her live.

Unrelated to Solar specifically but man I wish not everyone would go for lip fillers, they don't look amazing on everyone, especially if they're overdone. Thin lips are cute, I wish kpop would recognize that.

Jaw shaves are god awful in my opinion. Like they don't actually make anyone look better they just give the face an egg shape so many idols are desperate to have. I feel so bad for Karina when I look at her sometimes, don't get me wrong she just looks absolutly amazing but the jaw shave made her face look very off balance, her facial thirds are destroyed. 

We have the same situation with Sullyoon (?) from NMIXX, she doesn't have good facial thirds either, made worse by the jaw shave. 

Shouldn't a good surgeon look for the balance in the face as well?

That's crazy, it's horrible that she died. How can such risky procedure even be allowed and, even worse, normalised? I know every PS procedure comes with risks but there's gotta be a limit how much one will risk to ''look better''. I don't see the jaw shave trend stopping anytime soon, especially in kpop, which worries me for all these young idols going through with operations like that, and the consequenes it could have for them, like you said, it could have been any idol instead of Wang Bei.

Oh I hadn’t considered that at all. I’m glad it makes other peoples lifes better but it’s still a very risky procedure. At least it sounds like the Surgeons consider each individuals face the way you describe it, they sounds like good surgeons. Tho I don’t think you can generelise like that, surely there are great Asian surgeons too who do great work with jaw shaves, we might just not have seen those cases yet, I haven’t seen THAT many jaw shaves in kpop yet tbh

That's a whole anime character on the left. I'm very glad she doesn't look like that since I don't actually think I know any idol who looks like that. I hadn't scrolled down right away when I saw the pics and I thought the right one was the photoshopped one. I thought 'the prettier picture is the photoshopped one right?' lol I was wrong. The left one is just is strongly headed into uncanny valley,

I don't think they photoshopped her nose bridge much higher but rather gave her an extreme ski slope nose, her nose tip is just really out there. Though she seems to have a high bridge already in the right pic. 

I'm very sure most fansites edit their pictures, just they do a lot more subtle it most of the time. There was a post a few pages back where someone pointed out that Taehyungs fansite pic was edited, the fan site made his jaw less square.

She looks pretty stiff in the getty one. I wonder why so many idols go for such a tight, unnatural look.

Also thats crazy that you can change how you look so much, I won't ever touch editing apps with a 10 feet pole, that's just future body dysmorphia in a pretty package.

Yeah, that pillowly face isn’t looking too great. Now that you pointed it out I just realized how small her eyes look. 

 It’s so sad tho I never thought that Solar looked her age, in my opinion it was unnecessary to go this overboard with fillers.

I also don’t think she did anything with her nose, but she still has an implant from before right?

Solar debuted quite "old" for a kpop idol (23 years old) and became a trainee "old" as well (20 years old), and that's considered really "old" for a female idol - Rainbow Bridge World is not a great company, but one thing I appreciate is that they've debuted or re-debuted a lot of idols who were considered too old.

But given that I'm not surprised she's felt some pressure to get fillers (and maybe a cat-eye lift idk). And of course everyone and their mother is jumping on the lip filler trend...

This might be the first jaw shave that looks good on an idol, it looks quite natural. I wasn't aware she had her jaw done! it looks that well done. I can imagine why they hid her predebut pictures, theres not a way to hide that jaw work with pictures like that tbh. Pretty sad to see idols give up their cute face shapes tho

I haven't heard many great things about the company either but at least they excell at giving ''too old'' idols a chance (the fact that the 'expiration date' of idols is so young is really insane to me)

I for sure get what you mean but South Korea has a whole other perspective regarding plastic surgery. Kids get double eyelids surgery as a graduation gift (an example). It's not seen as severe as it is in other places in the world, plastic surgery is very normalized there. I don't think most parents get worried if they teenagers start looking uncanny. Also they have to start looking uncanny enough for people who don't actively engange in PS talk to notice, we on this platform often notice subtle changes but others might not notice someone is getting work done until they look like Park Bom. 

I don't believe there is any additional guidance other than the appointment with the doctor who will do the surgery. I don't think they see a reason for that since if the idol is a minor either they need the parents permission to get PS or the parents gave the company the responsibility to decide (which is just an awful desicion). 

I do believe that the high and unattinable beauty standards in kpop highten the insecurities of idols and could pressure them to get more and more done to look better and more 'perfect'. And once this starts with one idol others will follow and this will snowball until everyone has gotten their whole face done, or possibly doens't have any damn kneecaps anymore. So I don't think reassureance by friends or family will help a lot when idols are 24/7 surrounded by pretty people they get constantly compared to.

Also, depending on the company, but generally rookie idols don't have any say in anything yet so I'm not sure if they would be able to say no to surgery (especially if it is mandated in their contract that they have to do the surgeries the company wants). Many idols aren't opposed to it either since they know it will make them look 'better'. I haven't ever heard of a situation where an idol didn't want plastic surgery even tho they company did. I don't think there would be a lawsuit by the company, if this were to happen, since PS is still pretty hush hush in kpop. 

I very much agree with your last statement that there could be disorders at play. I personally believe that the way this industry is build it gives idols a very distorted sense of how they look and are as people. Such could absolutely escalate into mental disorders.

Off topic, but speaking of body shapes, anyone notice how Soyeon is actually skin and bones now? 

I saw this video really got surprised how skinny her legs are. 

A lot of Idols that used to be arguably “normal” skinny suddenly lost all muscles and fat very recently (Somi, Soyeon, Solar, Ryujin etc.)

Also about Yeji: Did she debut natural? it does seem unlikely from a well of big 3 group but if I had to place the pic I’d say it’s after debut sometime. Her eyes could be done maybe but the rest of her face from that time does look natural in my opinion. If she had done anything there, it’s barely visible to me.

jyp likes to do very subtle work so it’s not easy to spot for people who don’t know ps well! but just a rule of thumb, 99% of idol have had ps and most have done their eyes and nose.

Ohhh thank you those! pics are very helpful and make it quite obvious how her face changed  I didn't have any very old pics of her so really I was riding on an assumption the whole time haha 

I never realized how much lip filler she gets, I wasn't aware how small her actual lip size is, very interesting. Her chin looks a bit sus in some of those pictures but I'm guessing it's just quite a bit of weight loss.

They're all very young still but her face looks so tight to me, let's hope it's bad editing/styling etc. instead of them pumping teenagers full  of unnecessary fillers...

what did this person to do that photo in order for it to look like. I seemed highly unlikely to me that the brand would publish him looking like he just got out of eye lid surgery. But for the life of me I can’t tell why would someone edit him looking like this. So I’m still torn on what this means.
